RESUMEN

We present a patients with the IVC anomaly found during an abdominal CT performed to rule out visceral trauma in a patient of road traffic accident. This patient had left sided infra renal segment of IVC with retro aortic right renal vein. Although there have been many case reports of left sided IVC, the CT appearance of this along with the right sided retro aortic vein, with the associated renal pelvis lying anterior to the vien has not yet been reported. We have briefly reviewed the embryology of this malformation. The knowledge of variation in the venous system in retro-peritoneum is essential in cross sectional imaging on order not to misinterpret them for pathological process like retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy. An advance warning to surgeons about their existence can help avoid potentially dangerous complications during surgeries

RESUMEN

Unilateral pulmonary oedema of the contralateral side following rapid thoracocentesis of pleural fluid in a patient associated with LVF has not been repoted. We belive that it is important to increase the awareness of the re-expansion pulmonary oedema and its possible serious complications. The guidelines for prevention and management are discussed
