RESUMEN
O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência da altura do terço inferior na estética facial, em ambos os gêneros, por meio de fotografias faciais. A partir da fotografia inicial, foram feitas alterações de modo a acrescentar, em cada indivíduo, 1 mm na altura do terço inferior da face, até completar 7 mm de aumento e, posteriormente, da mesma forma, a partir da fotografia inicial,foram realizados decréscimos de 1 mm, até completar 7 mm de subtração, totalizando 30 fotografias. Avaliou-se, do ponto de vista estético, quais fotografias correspondiam a configurações faciais agradáveis, classificadas como muito boas e, destas, quais correspondiam a melhor configuração facial, classificadas como excelente, para cada gênero. As fotografias consideradas excelentes apresentaram as AFIs 4% e 7,3% aumentadas em relação is AFSs, para os gêneros feminino e masculino, respectivamente. Dentre as fotografias tidas como muito boas, a maior discrepância apresentada foi de 14,6% no gênero masculino, seguida pelo valor de 12%, no gênero feminino. Pôde-se observar que as fotografias selecionadas para o gênero feminino tiveram variação entre O mm e 3 mm de aumento, enquanto as fotografias do gênero masculino variaram entre 1 mm e 4 mm de aumento. Assim, verifica-se que os indivíduos são julgados mais estéticos quando possuem o terço inferior ligeiramente aumentado, sendo esta preferência mais marcante no gênero masculino.
The aim of this research was to evaluate the influence of the lower third vertical dimension on the facial aesthetic, in both sexes, by means of facial photographs. From the initial photograph of each patient, alterations had been made in order to add, to each photograph, 1 mn7 in the height of lower facial third, till 7 mm of total increase and, later; by the same way, from the initial photograph, decreases of I mm had been carried out!, till 7 mm of subtraction, totalizing 30 photographs. It was evaluated, considering the facial aesthetic, which photographs corresponded to a pleasant facial configuration, classified as very good and which corresponded to the best, face configuration, classified as excellent, for each sex. Photographs classified as excellent, presented AFI 4% and 7,3% bigger than AFS, to female and male respectively Among photographs classified as very good, the greater discrepancy presented was 14,6%,followed by the value of 12%. in the female. It could be observed that the photographs selected for the female had a variation between O mm and 3 mm of increase, while the photographs, forthe male varied between I mm and 4 mm of increase. So, it was verified that individuals of both sexes are more aesthetic when they possess lower facial third slightly increased, been this preference more evident in males.
