RESUMEN

Nucleophilic rate constants for the reaction of pyridine, piperidine, 2,4,6 - trimethylpyridine, 2-,3-,4-, piclones with ethyl iodide in different protic and aprotic solvents were determined. The effect of Taft, Kamlet and Abboud alpha, beta and pi [*] for solvents on the reaction rate constants were investigated comparatively

RESUMEN

The reaction rate constant comparison method is used to analyze solvent effects on the bimolecular nucleophilic reaction of primary and secondary amines with ethyl iodide in variable protic and aprotic solvents. It is shown that reaction rates depends on solvent dipolarity / polarisability [pi[*]], solvent hydrogen bond acceptor basicity [beta] and other correlation with the three solvent parameter [delta Gs]. Hydroxylic solvents reduce the reaction rate constant and nonhydroxylic solvents increase the rate
