Three granulomata of greater omentum caused by fasciola gigantica in a Thai woman :A case report.

A casde of ectopic fascioliasis in a Thai woman aged 39 years from Sakon Nakhon Province, northeastern Thailand was reported. It was the third case to occur in Thailand with three granulomata at the greater omentum near the transverse colon. These were than resected out without any complication. An adult Fasciola gigantica was found within one mass; the other two masses were not examined. In this report the life cycle of Fasciola is summarized, previous reports of fascioliasis in Thailand are briefly reviewed, and some interesting differences between Thai and foreign cases of fascioliasis are discussed.
