Utilização no cotidiano de tecnologias da informação e comunicação por idosos participantes da Universidade Aberta da Terceira Idade da Universidade de São Paulo / The use of Information and Communication Technologies in everyday living by elderly participants of the Open University of the Third Age at University of São Paulo

Este artigo buscou conhecer de que modo os idosos utilizam as Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TICs) em seu cotidiano, as motivações que os levam a adotá-las e as dificuldades para seu manuseio. Realizaram-se entrevistas semiestruturadas com idosos participantes da Universidade Aberta à Terceira Idade. Os idosos apresentaram heterogeneidade quanto ao grau de independência e autonomia no uso das TICs, e relataram distintos fatores que contribuem para a dificuldade em manuseá-las.

This paper is intended to know how the elderly use Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in their everyday living, the motivations why they adopt them and the difficulties in handling. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with elderly participants of the Open University of the Third Age. There were heterogeneity related to the level of independence and autonomy in using the ICTs among the elderly. They mentioned different aspects that contribute to the difficulties to handle the ICTs.
