RESUMEN

In 1908 Leiner described the peculiar skin condition among infants to which he applied the name erythroderma desquamativa. The four cardinal features of Leiners disease are generalized seborrheic dermatitis, intractable severe diarrhea, recurrent local and systemic infections usually of gram negative etiology, and marked wasting and cyst rophy. A 2-month-old female presented to our clinic with generalized seborrheic erythrodermic eruption and intractable diarrhea. She had sufferd from these symptoms since birth. Her body weight was 3.4kg (below 3rd percentile). Her scalp was covered with thick yellowish crsts. There was generalized erythroderma covered vith scales and crusts. Laboratory result; revealed gram negative sepsis and DIC. Chest X-ray showed the findings of minimal aspir ition pneumonia in the right upper lobe. She expired on the following day.

RESUMEN

Erythema induratum and erythema nodosum are both inflammatory disorders of the panniculus. However they are often difficult to distinguish because of clinical variations and similarity of histopathologic features. We investigated the clinical and histopathologic features of 30 cases of erythema induratum and 38 cases of erythema nodosum in order to define discrimination of clinical and histopathologic features. The results show that presence of ulceration is clinically important in differentiating erythema induratum from erythema nodosum. Histopathologic findings which suggest erythema induratum include lobular panniculitis or lobuloseptal panniculitis, necrosis and necrotizing vasculitis while erythema nodosum is characterized by predominantly septal panniculitis without necrosis and necrotizing vasculitis.

RESUMEN

We report a case of a tumor of the follicular infundibulum in a 54-year-old woman who had a papule on the medial side of the right upper eyelid for four months. Histopathologic findings were characterized by proliferation of follicular infundibular epithelium in the form of a thin subepidermal plate and small hair follicles in the tumor plate.
