RESUMEN

Temporary or provisional restorations for crown and bridge work may stay in the patient's mouth for extended period of time. It has been reported that the strength of autopolymerizing resin depends on the curing techniques used during processing. In this study, 35 specimens were prepared according to the ADA specification No. 12 for transverse strength using an autopolymerizing acrylic resin. The specimens were divided into seven groups according to the curing techniques. The use of microwave energy to cure the specimens showed significant improvement of transverse strength and lower deflection values. Autopolymerizing provisional restorations may be cured immediately in the microwave oven at the dough stage for time saving and additional strength
