Combined approach in management of ptosis

Thirteen patients with congenital ptosis underwent combined transconjunctival isolation and transcutaneous resection of levator palpebrae superioris muscle. Of these, 10 [77%] had good [within 1mm of normal] and 3 [23%] had fair [within 2mm of normal] postoperative lid level with a minimum three months follow-up; there was no lid malposition and all had good lid crease and fold formation. Lagophthalmos was frequently encountered hut eventually resolved causing no long term exposure problems. Levator function had variable relation to the needed resection.
