RESUMEN

Objective To study the non-fastidous antibiotic-resistance bacteria pollution in tap water from a neighborhood in Tianjin. Methods Tap water samples were collected and bacteria were isolated by R2A agar, and 16S rRNA gene sequence for the identification of bacteria isolates was used.Antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed using the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. Results Among the 39 non-fastidous bacteria isolates, the resistance rate of antibioticresistance bacteria was 79.49%,including Enterococcus,Staphylococcus,Acinetobacter and Pseudomonas. Some bacteria (28.21%) showed resistance against only one antibiotic. The others (51.28%) were multiple resistant bacteria.Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole resistance was most prevalent (53.85%),and sulfamethoxazole resistance was also widely distributed (28.21%).Conclusion Tap water from this neighborhood is heavily polluted by non-fastidous antibioticresistantance bacteria, which deserves more attention.

RESUMEN

Objective To develop an autopsy table for the cervical surgery of the small animal to enhance the efficiency by regulating the angles during the operation to expose cervical vertebra adequately. Methods The autopsy table was composed of a table body,a head rack and a foot rack. The head rack was connected with the body by a loose-leaf shaft, which had a screw under a semi-cylindrical cushion put into a sliding slot of the cushion to regulate and fix its position. The table body had four straps at its comers to imobilize the extremities of the experimental animal, and some screws were used to adjust and position the straps to four oblique sliding slots. Results The autopsy table adapted itself to sizes of small animals, which gained advantages in exposure of operating field, short operating time, decreased intraoperative blood loss, head imobilization as well as reduced workload. Conclusion The autopsy table enhances surgery efficiency and safety and has easy operation and low cost, and thus is worthy promoting in the cervical experiment of small animals.

RESUMEN

Four extracts [EtOH, CHCl[3], EtOAc, and BuOH] and five phenolics [dihydrokaempferol [1], resveratrol [2], kaempferol-7-O-beta-D-glucoside [3], dihydrokaempferol-3-O-alpha-L-rhamnoside [4], oxyresveratrol [5]] from Smilax china L. was evaluated for anti-HIV-1 activities and cytotoxicity activities in vitro. All these extracts and phenolics showed lower or no cytotoxicity at a concentration ranged from 0.8 microg/mL to 100 microg/mL, but some showed potential anti-HIV-1 activities, that is, BuOH extract and compound 2 showed higher anti-HIV-1 activities than other extracts and compounds in the tested concentrations. EtOAc extract and compound 1 and 3 showed moderate anti-HIV-1 activities at a concentration higher than 4 microg/mL. In the end, the structure-activity relationship of four extracts and five phenolics was discussed.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of two different ring liner thickness on the deformation of resulted castings.

METHODSGC No.2 casting rings (50 mm in height and 39.5 mm in diameter) were lined with two dry ceramic fiber liners with thickness of 0.70 mm and 0.45 mm. Plate-like wax patterns with pre-marked points were invested with a gypsum-bonded investment and the rings were cast with a silver-based dental alloy. The difference between the castings and the wax patterns at corresponding points was calculated to represent the dimensional change of the investment in the rings at different directions.

RESULTSThe expansion of the investment in the ring was non-isotropic, with larger radial direction expansion than the axial direction expansion (P < 0.01). In the scope of this study, the effect of two different ring liner thickness on the casting precision was statistically non-significant (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe liners with two different thickness failed to eliminate non-isotropic deformation of the castings under the testing conditions of this study.
