RESUMEN

ObjectiveTo analyze the epidemiological features and influencing factors of rabies in Shanxi Province, and to provide evidence to further promote the elimination of rabies in Shanxi Province. MethodsThe incidence data of rabies in Shanxi from 2011 to 2022 were collected and subjected to descriptive analysis. ResultsFrom 2011 to 2022, a total of 348 rabies cases were reported in Shanxi Province, with an average annual incidence of 0.080 3/105. The incidence of rabies showed a downward trend overall. The highest incidence was in August. The cases were mainly farmers, mostly males, and most cases were reported between 50 and 69 years old. The data of cases showed that dogs were the main animals attacking human (93.96%). The incubation period of most cases was 1‒3 months (37.37%).The main exposure site was hand(51.33%). Only 2.66% cases with grade Ⅲ exposure were injected with passive immune agents. ConclusionThe incidence of rabies in Shanxi Province continues to decrease, but there are still loopholes in prevention and control measures. It is necessary to strengthen the management and immunization of dogs, health education, and standardized procedures after exposure to maintain the achievements in the prevention and control of rabies.

RESUMEN

Central nervous system (CNS) is a sophisticated system subject to complex regulation, which dominates the high-level neural activities of the human body. Due to its complex physiological structure and refined regulatory mechanism covering a variety of diseases, CNS is the place where many chronic, refractory and rare diseases occur. Nerve cell is the basic unit of CNS, and its dysfunction and death is the root cause of CNS diseases. Ferroptosis is a new form of programmed cell death proposed in recent years, and has been proved to be closely related to the production and development of multiple CNS diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), including Chinese herbs, acupuncture and moxibustion, and massage, has shown unique advantages in the treatment of CNS diseases for a long time. A large number of studies have demonstrated that TCM participates in the regulation of CNS diseases via regulating ferroptosis and shows a good research prospect. This paper summarized the characteristics of ferroptosis and discussed the association between ferroptosis and CNS diseases in pathological mechanism. We also reviewed the regulation of various CNS diseases by different TCM interventions through ferroptosis, providing references for TCM to participate in the treatment of CNS diseases properly in the future.

RESUMEN

Objective To explore the effects of both folic acid,p16 protein expression and their interaction on progression of cervical cancerization. Methods Participants were pathologically diagnosed new cases, including 80 women with normal cervical (NC),55 patients with low-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN Ⅰ),55 patients with high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN Ⅱ/Ⅲ) and 64 patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).Serum folate levels were detected by microbiological assay method while p16 protein expression levels were measured by Western-blot.In vitro, cervical cancer cell lines C33A (HPV negative) and Caski (HPV16 positive) were treated with different concentrations of folate.Proliferation and apoptosis of cells and the levels of p16 protein expression were measured in groups with different folic acid concentrations. Results Results showed that the levels of serum folate were (5.96± 3.93) ng/ml,(5.08±3.43) ng/ml,(3.92 ± 2.59) ng/ml and (3.18 ± 2.71) ng/ml,and the levels ofpl6 protein were 0.80 ± 0.32,1.33 ± 0.52,1.91 ± 0.77,and 2.09 ± 0.72 in the group of NC,CIN Ⅰ,CIN Ⅱ/Ⅲ and SCC,respectively. However, the levels of serum folate decreased (trend X2 =32.71,P< 0.001) and p 16 protein expression increased (trend x2=56.06,P<0.001) gradually along with the severity of cervix lesions. An additive interaction was seen between serum folate deficiency and high expression of p l 6 protein in the CIN Ⅰ,CIN n/Ⅲ and SCC group. Results in vitro showed that, with the increase of folate concentration, the inhibition rate of cell proliferation (C33A:r=0.928,P=0.003;Caski:r=0.962,P=0.001) and the rate on cell apoptosis (C33A:r=0.984,P<0.001;Caski:r=0.986,P<0.001) all increased but the levels of p16 protein expression (C33A:r=-0.817,P=0.025;Caski:r=-0.871,P=0.011) reduced. The proliferation inhibition rate (C33A:r=-0.935,P=0.002;Caski:r=-0.963,P=0.001) and apoptosis rate of cells (C33A:r=-0.844,P=0.017;Caski:r=-0.898,P=0.006) were negatively correlated with the levels of p16 protein expression. Conclusions Our findings indicated that both serum folate deficiency and high expression of p16 protein could increase the risk of cervical cancer and cervix precancerous lesion, and there was an additive interaction between them. Our findings suggested that folic acid supplementation could reverse the abnormal expression of p16 protein, and effectively promote apoptosis and inhibit proliferation in cervical carcinoma cells.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND:Artificial femoral head replacement provides a new idea for the repair of unstable intertrochanteric fracture. Artificial prosthesis replacement may affect original femoral biomechanical stability and lead to a variety of adverse consequences. OBJECTIVE:To analyze the stress distribution of femoral head replacement in the treatment of unstable femoral intertrochanteric fractures with three-dimensional finite element analysis. METHODS:One male old volunteer was randomly selected from population who underwent health examination. The left femur was scanned with spiral CT, and the three-dimensional finite element models of the human femur and prosthesis were established. The three-dimensional finite element model was used to simulate the actual working conditions of human climbing stairs, and the stress distribution of the bone channels around the surface of the femur and the prosthesis was analyzed with three-dimensional finite element analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Under normal condition, the stress of the human femur was in a consistent state. Stress changed gradualy from the proximal end to the distal end. The stress of the prosthesis was concentrated in the middle section. The prosthesis of inner stress distribution was analyzed to obtain stress distribution of prosthesis and femur cancelous bone interface. The analysis found that stress change trend was consistent. The results suggest that artificial femoral head replacement does not have a significant effect on the overal stress distribution of the human femur, and the overal stress distribution does not change, and the maximum stress region is located in the middle of the whole femur. After the reconstruction, the stress concentration of the femur is not observed.

RESUMEN

Objective To explore the effects of aberrant expression of DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) in cervical cancerization tissue and cervical cancer cells. Methods Cervical tissues were collected from 80 cases with a diagnosis of invasive cervix squamous cell carcinoma (SCC),53 cases with high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN Ⅱ/Ⅲ),52 cases with low-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN Ⅰ)and 53 cases with normal cervix (NC).Meanwhile,Caski (HPV16-positive) and C33A (HPV-negative) cells selected from cervical cancer cell lines were cultured routinely in vitro. The expression of DNMT1 protein and mRNA were examined by Western blot analysis and real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) in the tissues and cells, respectively. Results The levels of DNMT1 protein were 1.33,1.84 and 2.28,and the Ct-ratios (DNMT1/β-actin) of DNMT1 mRNA were 1.27,1.27 and 1.26 in CIN Ⅰ,CIN Ⅱ/Ⅲand SCC group, respectively.Comparing with NC group, the expression of DNMT1 protein or mRNA was elevated in deficient cervical groups, with statistical significance (F =110.57,P < 0.001,F =2.68,P =0.048).The expression levels of DNMT1 protein were increased steadily according to severity of the cervix lesions (x2tend =50.80,P < 0.001),however,the expression of DNMT1 mRNA was not observed the same tendency (x2tend =3.63,P > 0.05).The results from experiment in vitro showed that the levels of DNMT1 protein or mRNA were both higher in Caski cell than in C33A cell, especially for DNMT1 mRNA with significantly difference (t =7.134,P =0.002).Conclusion Aberrant expression of DNMT1 protein or mRNA could link with the risk of cervical cancerization by both transcriptional and posttranscriptional mechanisms. There would be a synergistic effect between overexpression of DNMT1 and HPV16 infection in the progression of cervix carcinogenesis.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE@#This study was to explore the expression and clinicopathologic features of Tyrosine kinase receptors B (TrkB) and its ligand brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).@*METHOD@#Immunohistochemistry was adopted to detect the expression level of TrkB and BDNF in NPC patients.@*RESULT@#Both TrkB and BDNF were expressed in NPC as well as in chronic inflammation. The active expression rate of TrkB in NPC was 82.5% (47/57) and BDNF was 52.6% (30/57), both of which were higher than those in chronic inflammation (P 0.05). There were no statistical significance for degrees of BDNF expression in T stage, clinical stage and lymph node metastasis in NPC (P > 0.05). The expression of TrkB was unrelated to the expression of BDNF (r = 0.049, P > 0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#The high expression rate of TrkB and BDNF maybe plays an important role in development of NPC. It is suggested that TrkB and its ligand BDNF may act as an important index for forecasting the development and metastasis of NPC.
