RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate the incidence of intestinal microflora imbalance and its treatment in elderly patients with depression. Methods:A total of 255 patients with depression aged over 60 years who were admitted to the psychiatry department of our hospital but had not achieved symptom remission from July 2017 to July 2018 were included as the experimental group.During the same period, healthy people taking health examination at our hospital were enrolled as the control group.Fresh fecal samples were collected and changes in mental state was recorded. The intestinal flora was quantitatively identified. The logarithmic ratio of bifidobacterium to enterobacter(B/E ratio)was analyzed and used as a criterion for determining intestinal flora imbalance. Methods:The proportion of patients with moderate to severe depression and concurrent intestinal flora imbalance was higher than that of patients with moderate to severe depression alone (13.72% vs.3.92%, 13.33% vs.2.74%, P<0.01). The numbers of Bifidobacteria and Enterobacter and the B/E ratio in fresh stool specimens were lower in the experimental group than in the control group[(7.34±0.67)log10CFU/gwet stool vs.(11.33±0.23)log10CFU/g wet stool, (11.38±1.92)log10CFU/gwet vs.(7.93±1.69)log10CFU/g wet stool, (0.64±0.52) vs.(1.42±0.25), P<0.01]. The numbers of Enterococci were higher in the experimental group than in the control group( P<0.01). There were significant differences in Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)scores in elderly patients with depression and concurrent intestinal microflora imbalance before and after specific treatment(84.36±7.93 vs.59.30±2.94, 83.81±4.92 vs.58.53±10.39, P<0.001)and depression symptoms were significantly improved in patients with intestinal microflora imbalance. Conclusions:Elderly patients with depression are clearly prone to intestinal flora imbalance, which is characterized by decreased beneficial bacteria, increased aerobic bacteria and weak intestinal colonization resistance.

RESUMEN

Objective To observe the effect of eyebrow plasty combined with hair grafting technique. Methods From January 2011 to April 2015,19 patients with eyebrow defect by eyebrow tattooing, operation or trauma received eyebrow plasty. The removed eyebrow tissue was separated into hair follicle units, and the eyebrow shape was redesigned. The hair grafting method was used for repairing eyebrow defect.Scalp was used as a supplement to get enough hair follicle units. Results All but one patients with eyebrow defect obtained good results, and the grafted hairs were growing well with satisfied direction and shape. One patient sustained folliculitis and was cured after inunctions with 75 % alcohol. Conclusions Eyebrow plasty combined with hair grafting technique is a safe and effective method for repairing eyebrow defect, with reducing the number of operations and shortening the treatment time.

RESUMEN

Objective To explore the effect of the transplantation of intact follicle by punching with syringe needle on defect eyebrow reconstruction. Methods Fifty-two patients with eyebrow defects due to burn, trauma, resection and inappropriate eyebrow trimming were recruited,35 with bilateral defects and 17 with unilateral defect. The scalps strips from the safe donor area or temporal region were taken and made into 1 to 2 cm long hair with intact follicle under 3 fold magnifier. The recipient area was punched with 21G or 22G syringe needle. Then the hair shaft was clamped with mi croforceps and the follicles were transplanted to the defective area. Results Folliculitis were found in two burn patients after the transplantation and cured by alcohol inunction.Hairs of the rest patients transplanted grew well. The direction and appearance were satisfied. The survival rate of hair was more than 90 %.Conclusions It is feasible to restore the partial eyebrow defect by intact follicular transplantation by punching with syringe needle and clamping the hair shaft with microforceps.

RESUMEN

Objective To explore the effect of autotransplantation of hair with intact follicle on pubic hair reconstruction in patients with congenital loss of pubic hair. Methods The scalps strips of 12 female patients were harvested from the back of the head, close to the hairline. Under the microscope, the strip was then divided into a series of follicular-unit micrografts. The hair was transplanted to defective pubic area with the needle of syringe (0.9 mm × 38. 0 mm). Four hundred to 700 follicle units (U) were transplanted for small areas with the shape of inverted triangle or diamond. The density of transplanted hair was 20 U/cm2 in the area of mons pubis. The further from the area of mons pubis the distance was, the lower the density was. But it was not less than 10 U/cm2. Results The patients were followed-up for nine months to two years. The hairs transplanted grew well. The appearance was close to the normal distribution of pubic hair. All of the patients were treated by this one-session operation, and satisfied with the results. The incision scar of donor area on the back of the head was inconspicuous. Conclusions The above-mentioned technique is a simple, safe and effective method for pubic hair reconstruction. It might be an ideal method for pubic hair reconstruction with the appearance much closer to a normal pubic hair.

RESUMEN

Objective: To assess the effect of taurine supplementation on behavior of young rats exposed to low-level lead. Methods: Wistar dam rats were randomly divided into three lead+Tau(0.5%, 1.0% ,1.5%)groups, lead group and control group.Dams of three lead+Tau groups were fed with food containing 0.5%,1.0%,1.5% taurine respectively from d 9 of gestation. Lead+Tau groups and lead group dams were given water containing 0.14% PbAc 2 ad lib. from d 16 of gestation to weaning of the off spring on d 25 post partum. The pups continued taking same food and water. The neurobehavioral function of pups was tested. Results: (1) Taurine supplementation could significantly decrease accumulation of lead in the brain of young rats. (2)Taurine supplementation was able to prevent Pb-induced retardation on behavioral development, and also learning and memory damage in young rats.(3) In all selected six brain regions, the content of NA and DA was decreased in lead group compared with control group. The content of NA in all six brain regions and DA in pituitarium, cerebellum and cortex in 1.0% taurine supplementation group could be restored to normal. The content of ACh in hippocampus and cortex was decreased in Lead compared to Cont group, and which could be corrected by Tau supplementation. Conclusion: The results suggest that taurine has protective function against Pb-induced toxicity and can protect the nervous system against Pb-induced damage in the development of young rats.
