RESUMEN

The human eye has various axes and angles, of which the angle Kappa is an important indicator of the centrality of the human eye and is widely used in ophthalmic surgery. Proper preoperative evaluation and application of the angle Kappa facilitated the achievement of optimal postoperative visual quality. Chord mu is a new term that has emerged recently to better express the angle Kappa. The two concepts are not well understood clinically, limiting their usefulness. Therefore, to better understand the angle Kappa and chord mu, the definitions and connections between them are presented separately in this paper. Meanwhile, the application of angle Kappa in strabismus surgery was summarized, the method for compensating large angle Kappa in corneal refractive surgery and the clinical significance of angle Kappa in predicting postoperative centrality of multifocal intraocular lens(MIOL)in phacoemulsification combined with MIOL implantation were discussed, with a view to providing references for clinical work.

RESUMEN

On May 13, 2020, a 56-year-old man with extensive burns caused by flames and heavy metal-containing hydrothermal fluids was admitted to the General Hospital of Western Theater Command. After being admitted to the hospital, most of the burn wounds healed after treatments such as debridement, expansion, skin grafting, anti-shock, anti-infection, fluid replacement, and wound dressing change, etc. However, in the middle and late stages of treatment, the patient's burn wounds gradually showed repeated skin ulceration and inflammation. After excluding the cause of physical, bacterial infection and others, IgG4-related skin diseases was finally diagnosed by histopathological examination of tissue biopsy and concentration measurement of IgG4 in interstitial fluid, and the condition was improved after hormone treatment. This suggests that extensive burns may lead to the occurrence of autoimmune skin diseases. For the diagnosis of such diseases, it is necessary to combine clinical manifestations, serological examinations, and histopathological biopsy, etc. to avoid diagnostic pitfalls and draw correct conclusions.

RESUMEN

Objective: To understand the characteristics and trend of the premature death rate of 4 major chronic diseases in Ji'nan from 2015 to 2020. Methods: The death cause surveillance data and population data during 2015-2020 in Ji'nan were collected, and abbreviated life table, Joinpoint regression analysis and other methods were used to analyze the characteristics and change trends of the premature death rates of 4 major chronic diseases. Results: The crude mortality rate and age standardized mortality rate changes for the 4 major chronic diseases from 2015 to 2020 range from 568.65/100 000 to 604.06/100 000 and 366.77/100 000 to 432.48/100 000, respectively. The annual premature death rate of 4 major chronic diseases declined by 3.33% averagely from 2015 to 2020 (95%CI: -6.25%--0.32%), which might be explained by the declines of the premature death rates of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases [average annual percentage change (AAPC)=-3.23%, 95%CI: -6.32%--0.05%] and cancer (AAPC=-3.58%,95%CI:-6.83%--0.21%). The average decline rate in women (AAPC=-4.19%,95%CI:-7.56%- -0.70%) was higher than that in men (AAPC=-2.92%,95%CI: -5.65%--0.11%). Conclusions: The premature death rate of 4 major chronic diseases showed a downward trend in Ji'nan from 2015 to 2020. Men should be considered as a key population in the prevention and control of 4 major chronic diseases, and attention should also be paid to the non-significant declines in the premature death rates of chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes.

Alzheimer's disease(AD) patients in China have been surging, and the resultant medical burden and care demand have a huge impact on the development of individuals, families, and the society. The active component compound of Epimedii Folium, Astragali Radix, and Puerariae Lobatae Radix(YHG) can regulate the expression of iron metabolism-related proteins to inhibit brain iron overload and relieve hypofunction of central nervous system in AD patients. Hepcidin is an important target regulating iron metabolism. This study investigated the effect of YHG on the expression of a disintegrin and metalloprotease-17(ADAM17), a key enzyme in the hydrolysis of β amyloid precursor protein(APP) in HT22 cells, by mediating hepcidin. To be specific, HT22 cells were cultured in vitro, followed by liposome-mediated siRNA transfection to silence the expression of hepcidin. Real-time PCR and Western blot were performed to examine the silencing result and the effect of YHG on hepcidin in AD cell model. HT22 cells were randomized into 7 groups: control group, Aβ25-35 induction(Aβ) group, hepcidin-siRNA(siRNA) group, Aβ25-35 + hepcidin-siRNA(Aβ + siRNA) group, Aβ25-35+YHG(Aβ+YHG) group, hepcidin-siRNA+YHG(siRNA+YHG) group, Aβ25-35+hepcidin-siRNA+YHG(Aβ+siRNA+YHG) group. The expression of ADAM17 mRNA in cells was detected by real-time PCR, and the expression of ADAM17 protein by immunofluorescence and Western blot. Immunofluorescence showed that the ADAM17 protein expression was lower in the Aβ group, siRNA group, and Aβ+siRNA group than in the control group(P<0.05) and the expression was lower in the Aβ+siRNA group(P<0.05) and higher in the Aβ+YHG group(P<0.05) than in the Aβ group. Moreover, the ADAM17 protein expression was lower in the Aβ+siRNA group(P<0.05) and higher in the siRNA+YHG group(P< 0.05) than in the siRNA group. The expression was higher in the Aβ+siRNA+YHG group than in the Aβ+siRNA group(P<0.05). The results of Western blot and real-time PCR were consistent with those of immunofluorescence. The experiment showed that YHG induced hepcidin to up-regulate the expression of ADAM17 in AD cell model and promote the activation of non-starch metabolic pathways, which might be the internal mechanism of YHG in preventing and treating AD.

Objective To investigate the effect of calycosin on cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury and its mechanism. Methods Forty SPF male SD rats were randomly divided into sham group, model group, calycosin group (20 mg/kg), nimodipine group (0.7 mg/kg, positive control group). The occlusion model of middle cerebral artery in rats was established by modified thread occlusion method, and the environment of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury was simulated in vivo. Zea longa score was used to detect the neurological deficit of rats after ischemia-reperfusion injury, 2, 3, 5-triphenyltetranitrogen (TTC) was used to detect the volume of cerebral infarction, HE staining was used to detect the pathomorphological changes of nerve cells, Nissl staining was used to observe the changes of nissl bodies, TUNEL staining was used to detect the apoptosis of nerve cells, Western blotting was used to detect the expression of cytochrome C (Cyt C), apoptotic protease activating factor-1 (Apaf-1), Caspase-9 and Caspase-3. Results Compared with the sham group, the neurological deficit symptoms in the model group were significant (P<0.05), the volume of cerebral infarction increased significantly (P<0.05). Under the microscope, it was found that the nerve cells showed contraction of cell body, hyperchromatic and pyknosis of nucleus and poor growth state, the expression of nissl body reduced significantly (P < 0.05), the apoptotic nerve increased significantly (P< 0.05), the expression of Cyt C, Apaf-1, Caspase-9 and Caspase-3 increased significantly (P<0.05). Compared with the model group, the neurological deficit symptoms of calycosin group and nimodipine group reduced significantly (P<0.05), the volume of cerebral infarction reduced significantly (P<0.05). Under the microscope, the damage of nerve cells reduced significantly, the expression of nissl body increased significantly (P<0.05), the apoptotic nerve reduced significantly (P<0.05), the expression of Cyt C, Apaf-1, Caspase-9 and Caspase-3 decreased significantly (P<0.05). Conclusion Calycosin can significantly inhibit the apoptosis of nerve cells and reduce the cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Its mechanism of action is related to the effective regulation of Cyt C/Apaf-1 apoptosis signaling pathway by calycosin.

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate the effects of sacral neuromodulation (SNM) on detrusor underactivity (DUA).@*METHODS@#From December 2019 to April 2020, 6 patients with DUA who had been treated with SNM were assessed retrospectively. The average age was 58 years (46-65 years), with 3 males and 3 females. All the patients were diagnosed with DUA by urodynamics examination. Obstruction of bladder outlet was excluded through the cystoscopy. No patient had the history of neurological disease. All the patients were placed with the bladder colostomy tube before SNM. One female patient accepted the trans-urethral resection of bladder neck. Two male patients accepted the trans-urethral resection of prostate. All the 3 patients had no improvement of void symptom after the urethral operation. Before SNM, the average 24 h times of voiding was 23.8 (18-33), average volume of every voiding was 34.2 mL (10-50 mL), average residual volume was 421.7 mL (350-520 mL). The preoperative and postoperative 24 h urine frequency, average voided volume, and average residual urine volume were compared respectively.@*RESULTS@#Totally 6 patients underwent SNM with stage Ⅰ procedure. The operation time for stage Ⅰ procedure was 62-135 min (average 90 min). After an average follow-up of two weeks, stage Ⅱ procedure was performed on responders. Four patients accepted stage Ⅱ procedure (conversion rate 66.7%), the other two patients refused the stage Ⅱ procedure because the urine frequency did not reach the satisfied level. But all the patients had the improvement of residual urine volume. For the 4 patients at the follow-up of 10-15 months, the improvement of void was still obvious. For the all patients after stage Ⅰ procedure, the average 24 h urine frequency reduced to 13.5 times (9-18 times, P < 0.001), the average voided volume increased to 192.5 mL (150-255 mL, P < 0.001), and the average residual urine volume reduced to 97.5 mL (60-145 mL, P < 0.001). No adverse events, such as wound infection or electrode translocation were detected during an average follow-up of 11.3 months. Only one of the 4 patients who received the stage Ⅱ procedure did the intermittent catheterization for one time each day.@*CONCLUSION@#SNM provides a minimal invasive approach for the management of DUA.

Objective:To explore the possible mechanism of Huangqintang in treating ulcerative colitis (UC). Method:The animal model of UC was induced by dextran sodium sulfate (DSS).The experimental animals were divided into control group, model group,Huangqintang low dose (4.55 g·kg<sup>-1</sup>), medium dose (9.1 g·kg<sup>-1</sup>), and high dose(18.2 g·kg<sup>-1</sup>) groups. Intragastric administration was also given in the modeling process for 7 consecutive days. At the end of the 8th day, colon tissues were collected to measure colon length and mass, and calculate the colon mass index. Pathological changes were observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. Serum iron content, superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH), catalase (CAT) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) were determined by biochemical assay. Western blot was used to detect the protein expression of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GSH-Px4), long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase 4 (ACSL4) and ferritin heavy chain 1(FTH1). The mRNA expression levels of tumor trotein 53 (P53) and solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11) in colon tissues were detected by Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR). Result:The experimental studies showed that compared with normal group, serum MPO and iron content, ACSL4 protein level and relative P53 mRNA expression in the model group significantly increased (<italic>P</italic><0.05), while serum SOD, CAT, GSH content, GSH-Px4, FTH1 relative protein expression level and relative SLC7A11 mRNA expression in the model group significantly decreased (<italic>P</italic><0.01). Compared with model group, serum MPO and iron content, ACSL4 protein level and relative P53 mRNA expression significantly decreased (<italic>P</italic><0.05), while serum SOD, CAT, GSH content, GSH-Px4, FTH1 relative protein expression level and relative SLC7A11 mRNA expression significantly increased (<italic>P</italic><0.05) after the intervention of Huangqintang, and the effect was most significant in the high-dose group (<italic>P</italic><0.05). The results of general condition, colon length, colon mass index and HE staining showed that Huangqintang could relieve clinical symptoms and histopathological changes in UC mice. Conclusion:These results indicated that Huangqintang had therapeutic effect on ulcerative colitis mice, and its mechanism might be related to inhibiting the oxidative stress and ferroptosis.

Objective To investigate public network attention to air pollution and their desire to prevent haze. Methods Daily Air Quality Index(AQI) and PM2.5 concentration data and daily Baidu Index data were obtained in 31 provinces of China from January 1st, 2015 to December 31st, 2017.The Baidu indexes of air pollution and its protection were used to compose public′s network attention index for analysis on its spatial distribution in the 31 provinces and for linear regression research on air pollution, its protection and its network attention impact factors. Results With Baidu search index, it was noted that the network attention to air pollution was significantly higher than to air pollution protection.And a significant difference was found in the public network attention to air pollution between different provinces.It was found that education and consumption level of residents significantly affected public network attention to air pollution, while AQI and consumption level of residents significantly affected public network attention to air pollution hazards protection behaviors. Conclusions Even though the public has already paid high attention to air pollution, the awareness of air pollution hazards protection behaviors is still weak.Well-designed education campaigns are needed to enhance public awareness of air pollution and motivate the public to take actions to reduce pollution air exposure, especially in those provinces with a high AQI and PM2.5concentration.

OBJECTIVE@#To develop the visual uroflow scale (VUS), analyze the relationship of VUS score and index of free uroflowmetry, assess urination function preliminarily and improve the work efficiency in the clinic.@*METHODS@#Male lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) patients, who attended the Department of Urology in Peking University People's Hospital from March 2016 to March 2017, were assessed for their urination function according to the Visual Uroflow Scale without help from clinicians before undertaking a free uroflowmetry test. And afterwards, a free uroflowmetry was undertaken, and variables including maximal flow rate (Qmax), the average flow rate (Qave) and voiding volume (VV) was obtained. During the study, 124 cases were collected and 53 cases met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were included in the study cohort. The Spearman correlation analysis was used for analyzing the correlation of VUS scores with free uroflowmetry variables and age. The validity of VUS was evaluated.@*RESULTS@#Most of the patients could choose the very figure matched with self-condition by first instinct without any help from the clinician. The data were analyzed by Spearman correlation analysis. In the present study, voiding time was positively correlated with the VUS score (correlation coefficient, 0.62, P < 0.05). In the present cohort, the patients chose the third and fourth figures to take longer time to urinate, implying worse LUTS situation. Flow time and VUS scores were positively correlated (correlation coefficient, 0.61, P < 0.05). The patients with higher VUS scores would spend more time on urinate, no matter how long urinary hesitation was. Both Qmax and Qave were negatively correlated with the VUS score (correlation coefficient -0.54, -0.62, P < 0.05). The study illustrated that the VUS score suggested that the Qmax basically and further reflected the urination function. And its relationship to age revealed the decreased urination function of aging male, which had reached a consensus.@*CONCLUSION@#Development of VUS has helped the clinician assess the urination function preliminarily at the first time. Patients are assessed for a VUS score before getting surgery or receiving the drug for treatment, and can be re-assessed after. The VUS score can provide an objective quantitative basis to evaluate the treatment efficacy. In addition, considering that it is convenient, timesaving and easy to understand, the VUS is available for follow-up.

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in the treatment of patients with solitary kidney stones.@*METHODS@#The clinical data of 22 patients with solitary kidney stones treated with PCNL in Peking University People's Hospital from September 2008 to June 2014, with the follow-up data of more than 5 years were analyzed retrospectively. Perioperative indicators, postoperative stone free rate (SFR) and incidence of complications were recorded. Ultrasonography was used to evaluate the long-term stones recurrence rate. Serum creatinine and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) were used to assess the long-term renal function.@*RESULTS@#In this group of 22 patients, the average age was (50.3±11.8) years, with 10 cases of anatomic solitary kidneys, 12 functional solitary kidneys, and the median stone diameter was 1.65 (1.1-3.9) cm. All the patients had multiple stones, including 7 cases of staghorn stones. The median pre-operative serum creatinine was 104.5 (60.0-460.0) μmol/L, and the mean eGFR was (60.3±29.4) mL/min, showing no statistically significant difference compared with that before surgery. The mean operative time was (88.2±42.0) min, and there were 11 cases of single-channel and double-channel PCNL. The median serum creatinine on the first day after surgery was 102.0 (63.0-364.0) μmol/L, and the mean eGFR was (58.0±25.1) mL/min. The mean postoperative hospital stay was (8.7±5.2) days. In this group, 5 patients (22.7%) presented short-term complications, among which 4 patients presented postoperative infection and massive hemorrhage at the same time, which improved after conservative treatment, and 1 patient presented pleural injury and improved after closed thoracic drainage. Two patients (9.1%) developed long-term complications, and ureteral stricture occurred 3 months after operation, which improved after balloon dilatation. The median follow-up time was 6.2 (4.7-11.1) years. The median serum creatinine at the last follow-up was 104.0 (72.4-377.0) μmol/L, and the mean eGFR was (60.1±23.7) mL/min, showing no statistically significant difference compared with that before surgery. Renal function decreased in 6 patients (27.3%). Initial and final SFR were 72.7% and 100%, respectively. During the 6.2-year follow-up, 9 patients (40.9%) experienced recurrence of kidney stone. After stone recurrence, 13 lithotomy surgeries were performed, and the SFR by the latest follow-up was 63.6%.@*CONCLUSION@#This study had the longest follow-up time for patients with solitary kidney stones after PCNL reported at home and abroad. Ultrasound-guided standard PCNL was safe and effective in the treatment of solitary kidney stones. Long-term follow-up results showed that the recurrence rate of kidney stones was still high, but the long-term renal function was stable after operation, and some patients showed mild renal function decline.

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the effect of mmu-circRNA_016901 on the regulation of radiation injury of bone marrow stem cells and its mechanism.@*METHODS@#Bone marrow stem cells were exposed to different dose of X-ray, then the expression level of mmu-circRNA_016901 in bone marrow cells treated with different doses of X-ray was detected. The luciferase reporter gene assay was used to confirm that miRNA1249-5p is the target of mmu-circRNA_016901, and RNA Binding Protein Immunoprecipitation was used to confirm that TGF-β3 is the targeted on miRNA1249-5p,the expression of TGF-β3 and cell proliferation were detected after the expression of mmu-circRNA_01690 was regulated.@*RESULTS@#When the irradiation dose<6 Gy, there were significant difference in the expression of mmn-circRNA-016901 after the bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were treated by different doses of irradiation, which showed a statistically significant (P<0.05). The luciferase reporter gene detection and co-immunoprecipitation experiments confirmed that Mmu-circRNA_016901 could binds to miRNA1249-5p specifically, and overexpression of mmu-circRNA_016901 could regulate miRNA1249-5p negatively, which resulted in a significant increase in TGF-β3 expression and promoting of cell proliferation.@*CONCLUSION@#mmu-circRNA_016901 affects the expression of TGF-β3 through miRNA1249-5p, and thus participates in the regulation of the radiation damage mechanism of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.

Objective To explore the relationship between fasting blood glucose and branchial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) levels among hypertensive population in rural areas of Eastern China. Methods A cross-sectional analysis were conducted among hypertensive population in Lianyungang and Anqing city from July to September 2013. Multivariable linear regression models were used to analyze the association of serum glucose and baPWV. Results A total of 3 894 hypertensive participants were included in the present study. The prevalence of normal fasting glucose (NFG), impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and diagnosed diabetes (DM) were 44.5%, 43.0%, and 12.5%, respectively. Each 1-mmol/L increase in fasting blood glucose levels was significantly associated with a 26.2 cm/s increase in baPWV levels (95% CI: 19.6-32.8, P<0.001). Consistently, significantly higher baPWV levels were observed in participants with IFG (β=50.4 cm/s, 95% CI: 28.4-72.3, P<0.001) and DM (β=113.4 cm/s, 95% CI: 80.2-146.5, P<0.001) when compared to those with NFG. Furthermore, a stronger positive association between fasting blood glucose and baPWV was observed in participants with systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥140 mmHg (β=34.3 cm/s, 95% CI: 24.5-44.2, P<0.001; vs.<140 mmHg; β=18.1 cm/s, 95% CI: 9.1-27.2, P<0.001; Pinteraction=0.027). Conclusion There was a positive association between fasting blood glucose and baPWV levels among hypertensive population in rural areas of Eastern China.

Objective To investigate the association between serum uric acid and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) levels and to examine any possible effect modifiers among hypertensive patients in rural areas of Eastern China. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted in Lianyungang and Anqing Cities from July to September 2013. Hypertensive patients with serum uric acid and baPWV measurements were included in this study. Multivariate linear regression was used to assess the relationship between serum uric acid levels and baPWV. Results Finally, a total of 4 278 participants were included in this study. The mean age was 65.2 (standard deviation(SD):7.4) years and the mean value of baPWV levels were 1835.1 (SD: 383.4) cm/s. Regression analysis showed that there is a positive correlation between serum uric acid and baPWV levels (per SD increment, β=20.5 cm/s, 95% CI: 8.5-32.5, P=0.001. When uric acid was categorized in tertiles, a significantly higher baPWV level was found in participants in tertile 3 (≥349μmol/L)(β=51.2 cm/s, 95% CI: 23.8-78.6, P=0.001), compared with those in tertile 1(<277 μmol/L). Furthermore, the serum uric acid-baPWV association was significantly stronger in those systolic blood pressure (SBP)≥140 mm Hg (vs.<140 mm Hg; p-interaction=0.001). Conclusion There is a positive relationship between uric acid levels and baPWV among hypertensive patients, especially in those with higher SBP levels.

BACKGROUND@#Little is known about the risk factors for sudden cardiac death (SCD) in the overall hospitalized cardiac department population. This study was conducted to investigate the risk factors and develop a predictive model for SCD in a hospitalized cardiac department population.@*METHODS@#We conducted a retrospective study of patients admitted to the cardiac department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from June 2015 to February 2017. We collected the clinical data from medical records. Multiple stepwise logistic regression analysis was carried out to confirm the risk factors for SCD and develop a predictive risk model. The risk score was assessed by the area under receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) curve and the Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test.@*RESULTS@#A total of 262 patients with SCD and 4485 controls were enrolled in our study. Logistic regression modeling identified eight significant risk factors for in-hospital SCD: age, main admitting diagnosis, diabetes, corrected QT interval, QRS duration, ventricular premature beat burden, left ventricular ejection fraction, and estimated glomerular filtration rate. A predictive risk score including these variables showed an AUROC curve of 0.774 (95% confidence interval: 0.744-0.805). The Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test showed the chi-square value was 2.527 (P = 0.640). The incidence of in-hospital SCD was 1.3%, 4.1%, and 18.6% for scores of 0 to 2, 3 to 5 and ≥6, respectively (P < 0.001).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Age, main admitting diagnosis, diabetes, QTc interval, QRS duration, ventricular premature beat burden, left ventricular ejection fraction, and estimated glomerular filtration rate are factors related to in-hospital SCD in a hospitalized cardiac department population. We developed a predictive risk score including these factors that could identify patients who are predisposed to in-hospital SCD.

OBJECTIVE@#To introduce a urodynamic classification of male patients with symptoms of overactive bladder (OAB) and discuss its clinical significance in practice.@*METHODS@#From January 2015 to January 2017, there were 181 male patients from Peking University People's Hospital who were diagnosed clinically with OAB and underwent preoperative urodynamic test. Finally 126 male patients were enrolled in the research. Male OAB patients could be stratified into four groups based on the chief complaints (whether or not presenting urgency) and the results of urodynamic test (whether or not presenting detrusor overactivity and the ability to stop the involuntary contraction). The contents of this follow-up study included the basic information, the preoperative and postoperative scores of the OAB symptom score (OABSS), the preoperative and postoperative scores of the international prostate symptom score (IPSS), and the amount of the concomitant diseases.@*RESULTS@#According to the classification, the amounts of the four types of OAB patients were 32 (25.40%) for type I, 27 (21.43%) for type II, 59 (46.83%) for type III, and 8 (6.35%) for type IV, respectively. The data of their heights showed no statistical significance (P>0.05). The ages, weights and the amount of the concomitant diseases of type IV were obviously higher than those of the other three types (P<0.05). And the ages, weights and the amount of the concomitant diseases of the other three types had shown no statistical significance (P>0.05). The improvement of the OABSS and IPSS scores of the type IV were obviously inferior to the other three types (P<0.05). The improvements of the OABSS and IPSS scores of type III were obviously higher than those of the other three (P<0.05). The discrepancy of the OABSS and IPSS scores of type I and type II had shown no statistical significance (P>0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Type IV has the worst outcome and type III has the best among the four types of OAB. And this classification system will certainly have a profound significance in guiding and directing our clinical diagnosis and treatments, and evaluating the prognosis of the patients with OAB.

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate the long-term efficacy of tension-free vaginal tape (TVT)and trans-obturator tape (TOT)for different types of female stress urinary incontinence (FSUI).@*METHODS@#The clinical data of all female patients with stress urinary incontinence (SUI) who underwent mid-urethral slings (MUS) in Peking University People's Hospital from January 2008 to June 2016 were retrospectively analyzed, and all the patients were followed up. Based on the level of abdominal leak point pressure (ALPP), the patients with ALPP lower than or equal to 60 cmH2O (1 cmH2O=0.74 mmHg) were regarded as intrinsic sphincter deficiency (ISD) type, and the patients with ALPP higher than 60 cmH2O were regarded as non-ISD type. According to the degree of remission of leakage of urine by using the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Short Form (ICI-Q-SF), the surgical outcomes were divided into three categories: cured, improved or failed. The efficacy of TVT and TOT for different types of FSUI was evaluated by comparing the cure rate of TVT with the cure rate of TOT in ISD type and non-ISD type separately.@*RESULTS@#A total of 170 patients were included in this study. The patients were among 30-78 years, and the follow-up period were among 12-110 months. In the study, 117 patients belonged to non-ISD type. Of whom 30 underwent TVT with a cure rate of 86.7% (26/30), and the other 87 underwent TOT with a cure rate of 69.0% (60/87). The cure rate of TVT was higher than that of TOT in non-ISD type, however, Chi-square test showed that there was no significant difference (χ2=3.589, P>0.05). In addition, 53 patients belonged to ISD type, of whom 16 underwent TVT with a cure rate of 87.5% (14/16), and the other 37 underwent TOT with a cure rate of 51.4% (19/37). The cure rate of TVT was higher than that of TOT in ISD type, and Chi-square test showed that the difference was statistically significant (χ2=6.212, P<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#For the treatment of FSUI, MUS can achieve satisfactory long-term efficacy. For non-ISD type, the cure rates of TVT and TOT are similar, while for ISD type, the cure rate of TVT is higher than that of TOT.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the improvement effects of external application of water extract from Picrasma quassioides on allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) model mice, and to provide reference for its further development and utilization. METHODS: A total of 48 mice were randomly divided into blank control group (normal saline), model group (normal saline), hydrocortisone group (positive control, about 0.15 g/ear) and water extract from P. quassioides low-dose, medium-dose and high-dose groups (0.15, 0.3, 0.6 g/ear, calculated by extract), with 8 mice in each group. The mice were given medicine on ear at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for 7 d continuously. Except for blank control group, other groups were given acetone-olive oil solution containing 0.5% 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB) on the abdomen of mice to induce ACD model. After 7 d medication, modeling group was given acetone-olive oil of 0.25% DNFB on left ear to induce dermatitis. 24 h later, the pathological changes of left ear tissue were observed by naked eye and skin lesion was scored. The thickness difference and weight difference of left and right ears in mice were measured. The serum contents of IL-6 and IgE were determined. The pathomorphology changes of ear tissue were observed by microscope after HE staining. RESULTS: Compared with blank control group, the skin lesion score of left ear was increased significantly in model group (P<0.01); the thickness difference and weight difference of left and right ears, serum contents of IgE and IL-6 were increased significantly (P<0.01). Pathological changes were observed in left tissue of mice by microscope, such as lymphocytic infiltration, intercellular edema, erythrocyte exudation. Compared with model group, skin lesion score of left ear in mice was decreased significantly in hydrocortisone group and water extract from P. quassioides high-dose group (P<0.05 or P<0.01); the thickness difference and weight difference of left and right ears in mice were decreased significantly in all administration groups (P<0.01). The serum contents of IgE and IL-6 in mice were decreased significantly in hydrocortisone group, water extract from P. quassioides medium-dose and high-dose groups (P<0.01); the inflammatory lesions of left ear in mice were alleviated to varying degrees in different administration groups. CONCLUSIONS: External application of water extract from P. quassioides has a good improvement effect on ACD model mice.

Aim To explore the influences of scutellarin on ATP-induced NLRP3 inflammasome activation and pyroptosis,using LPS-primed murine macrophages J774A.1 as an inflammatory cell model,and to explore the underlying mechanism.Methods The effects of scutellarin on ATP-induced pyroptosis in murine J774A.1 macrophages were analyzed by propidium iodide (PI) staining assay.The levels of IL-1β,caspase-1 and HMGB1 in cell lysates and culture supernatants were analysed using Western blot.The levels of IL-1β in cell culture supernatants were measured by cytometric beads array (CBA).Results ATP significantly induced caspase-1 activation and mature IL-1β and HMGB1 release into the culture supernatants in LPS-primed murine J774A.1 macrophages,and induced pyroptosis.Scutellarin treatment dose-dependently inhibited ATP-induced caspase-1 activation,mature IL-1β and HMGB1 release,and pyroptosis.Notably,scutellarin's inhibitory effects on ATP-induced pyroptosis were markedly reversed by the adenylate cyclase inhibitor MDL12330A and selective protein kinase A (PKA) inhibitor H89.Conclusion Scutellarin inhibits NLRP3 inflammasome activation and pyroptosis by modulating the PKA activity in macrophages,thereby exhibiting anti-inflammatory activities.

AIM:To investigate the effects of curcumin on the viability ,the lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)re-lease,the apoptosis,and the activity and the expression levels of caspase-3,caspase-8 and caspase-9 of rat adrenal pheo-chromocytoma PC12 cells induced by β-amyloid protein 25-35(Aβ25-35 ).METHODS:The PC12 cells were treated with Aβ25-35.The viability and LDH release rates were measured by MTT assay and LDH kit ,respectively.The cells were ran-domly divided into blank control group ,model group,curcumin 10μmol/L group and curcumin 20μmol/L group.The ap-optotic rates were evaluated by flow cytometry with Annexin V-FITC/PI staining.The activities and expression levels of caspase-3,caspase-8 and caspase-9 were detected by colorimetric method and Western blot analysis.RESULTS:Com-pared with model group ,curcumin significantly increased the viability ,and decreased the LDH release rates and the apop-totic rates of the PC12 cells treated with Aβ25-35(P<0.01).Compared with model group,curcumin significantly decreased the activity and expression levels of caspase-3,caspase-8 and caspase-9(P<0.05 or P<0.01).CONCLUSION:Cur-cumin inhibits Aβ25-35-induced apoptosis of PC12 cells by inhibiting the expression of caspase-3,caspase-8 and caspase-9.

BACKGROUND: With the improvement of medical imaging technology, the visualization of human anatomy has been further developed; the role of three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction in medical treatment is also becoming increasingly prominent. Mimics is the most widely used medical image reconstruction software. Arigin 3D Pro is a recently developed 3D reconstructed medical software system based on 3D printing. OBJECTIVE: To study the accuracy of 3D reconstruction models obtained by using Arigin 3D Pro and Mimics with medical images. METHODS: The image data of liver, spine, knee joint and heart were selected, and the deviations of two software reconstruction models were analyzed based on the 3D model reconstructed by Mimics. Totally 10 cases of skull and 1 case of femoral comminuted fracture image data were selected and reconstructed. Each reconstruction model was measured with 10 groups of feature sizes to evaluate the differences between the two software programs. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Arigin 3D Pro and Mimics were used to reconstruct the liver, spine, knee and heart data. The mean ± standard deviation of model deviations were (0.93 ± 1.05), (0.36 ± 0.74), (0.45 ± 0.74), (0.18 ± 0.41) mm. It took 3 minutes and 35 minutes for Arigin 3D Pro and Mimics to reconstruct the liver model respectively, and both software reconstructed other models for less than 1 minute. There was no statistically significant difference between the feature sizes of the two software for the 3D reconstruction models of skull and femoral comminuted fracture data (P > 0.05). The 3D reconstruction model of Arigin 3D Pro is comparable to that of Mimics. For the liver model, the reconstructed time of Arigin 3D Pro is significantly shorter than that of Mimics.
