RESUMEN

Antisense long chain noncoding RNA (lncRNA) is a new class of RNA molecules. In recent years, antisense lncRNA has been found to play an important role in many life activities including tumorigenesis and development. It has become a hot topic in biological research in recent years. Because of the special structure, many antisense lncRNAs have specific expression in tumor tissues and are closely related to the clinical data of the patients. Thus, antisense lncRNA is a potential tumor molecular marker. Further functional studies have shown that lncRNA can participate in gene regulation by means of miRNA sponge and RBP binding to play an important role in tumor cell cycle, apoptosis, angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis. More studies on the mechanisms of antisense lncRNA in cancer are of great theoretical significance in understanding the etiology and pathogenesis of malignant tumors and RNA language. At the same time, antisense lncRNA is a molecular marker or a potential target for the early diagnosis of malignant tumors. The antisense lncRNA may have a broad clinical application prospect in the evaluation of therapeutic effect, prognosis and even gene therapy.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the relationship between the degree of nasal septum deviation and inferior turbinate hypertrophy with the CT. METHODS The paranasal sinus CTs of 98 cases with septum deviation were evaluated. Inferior turbinate on the deviated side of the nasal septum was considered as the control group and the inferior turbinate on the other side was taken as the study group in the same patient. The septal deviation angle, thickness of the bone, medial mucosa and lateral mucosa of the inferior turbinate were measured. RESULTS The thickness of the bone, medial mucosa and lateral mucosa of the inferior turbinate were statistically different between the study group and the control group(P0.05), but the value of correlation coefficents revealed the inferior turbinate bone correlated with the deviation angle most, followed by medial and lateral mucosal thickness. CONCLUSION The hypertrophy of inferior turbinate in patients with nasal septum deviation is not only caused by mucosal hypertrophy, but also by hypertrophy of the inferior turbinate bone. The preoperative CT before septoplasty can be helpful to choose the surgical methods during the operation.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE To study the roles of iron and zinc in the pathogenesis of recurrent tonsillitis and tonsillar hypertrophy.METHODS In total,40 patients who underwent a tonsillectomy to treat chronic tonsillitis or tonsillar hypertrophy were included in the study.Patients were divided into 2 groups, chronic tonsillitis or tonsillar hypertrophy group. The levels of iron and zinc elements were measured for each tonsillar tissue sample.RESULTS There was a significant difference in the iron and zinc level (P<0.001) between the tonsillar hypertrophy and chronic tonsillitis groups. The levels of iron and zinc were significantly lower in the chronic tonsillitis group.CONCLUSION The results suggest that low tissue concentration of iron and zinc may lead to chronic tonsillitis.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND:Previous study has found that hsa-miR-182 is probably related to the apoptosis-related genes such as cytochrome C (Cycs C) and calcineurin subunit CnB (PPP3R1) in nucleus pulposus cells. OBJECTIVE:To determine whether miR-182 plays a regulatory role in nucleus pulposus cel apoptosis by detecting the relative gene expression levels after transfecting miR-182 with Cycs C and PPP3R1 into nucleus pulposus cel s via plasmid delivery. METHODS:After a bioinformatics prediction about miR-182, miR-182 and target genes were transfected into the nucleus pulposus cel s, and at the same time, blank control group was established. Then the expression levels of the target genes were detected through cel lysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:miR-182 significantly inhibited the expression of Cycs C in nucleus pulposus cel s compared with the blank control group (P<0.05). Compared with the blank control group, miR-182 made no inhibitory effect on the expression of PPP3R1. These findings suggest that miR-182 may play a regulatory part in nucleus pulposus cel apoptosis by inhibiting the expression of Cycs C.
