RESUMEN

Echocardiography, computed tomography( CT)and magnetic resonance imaging( MRI),as the non-invasive cardiovascular imaging techniques, play an increasingly important role in the preoperative diagnosis,intrao-perative monitoring and follow-up of congenital heart disease(CHD). At present, these techniques are widely used in the clinical diagnosis and assessment of CHD,providing comprehensive and reliable information about the cardiovascular structure and function for clinical decision - making. However, these techniques have their own advantages and limitations. The research progress of echocardiography,CT and MRI used in the diagnosis of CHD were reviewed in this paper.

RESUMEN

Objective To evaluate aorta's compliance after repair of coarctation of the aorta (CoA)using the pulse wave velocity (PWV)of MRI.Methods A retrospective analysis of cardiac MR images in 22 patients after repair of CoA was performed.PWV was measured and calculated with phase contrast MRI,and echocardiography was performed to measure both ventricular function and myocardial thickness during the same period.Age and sex-matched 22 normal subjects were served as a control group and their aortic PWVs were measured. Results The averaged PWV in study group was significantly higher than that in control group [(4 .42 ± 3 .02 )m/s vs (2 .73 ± 0 .76 )m/s,P =0.02].In study group, the PWV value of children with moderate anastomotic stenosis was the highest. ROC curve analysis showed the highest sensitivity and specificity could be achieved to distinguish the mild or moderate anastomotic stenosis when the threshold for PWV was 3.37 m/s.No significant correlations were found between left ventricular end-diastolic volume, left ventricular end-systolic volume, ejection fraction, left ventricular thickness and PWV.Conclusion PWV is increased in children after repair of CoA.Significant aortic remodelling can be observed in patients with moderate anastomotic stenosis.

RESUMEN

AIM:To explore the expression of anoctamin 1 (ANO1), one of calcium-activated chloride chan-nels ( CaCCs) , in mouse cardiomyocytes and its functional properties.METHODS:The cardiomyocytes from the myocar-dial tissues of C57BL/6 mice were isolated with enzyme and purified by the differential adherent method. The cells were stained with monoclonal anti-sarcomeric actin and Cy3 to evaluate the purity of the myocardial cells.RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression of ANO1 in the mouse cardiomyocytes. The protein expression of ANO1 in the mouse cardio-myocytes was determined by Western blotting analysis. The fluorescence quenching kinetics experiment was used to identify the ion transport properties of ANO1 in the mouse cardiomyocytes.RESULTS: The results of RT-PCR confirmed that ANO1 was expressed in freshly isolated myocardial cells. The results of Western blotting clearly demonstrated the protein expression of ANO1 in primarily cultured myocardial cells.Fluorescence quenching kinetics experiment on freshly isolated single myocardial cell revealed a pronounced outward rectifying property of the ANO1.The functional properties were simi-lar to the classic CaCCs.CONCLUSION:ANO1 expression was identified in the mouse myocardial cells. The function of CaCCs was generated by ANO1, suggesting that ANO1 is the molecular basis of CaCCs.

RESUMEN

Kawasaki disease can affect the coronary arteries, including coronary artery dilation, aneurysm, stenosis and thrombus.Conventional coronary angiography is the gold standard for coronary artery evaluation, but there are risks associated with its invasive nature and with the exposure to contrast agents and radiation. With the rapid development, computed tomography angiography and magnetic resonance angiography become the noninvasive imaging modalities to evaluate the coronary artery.

RESUMEN

Objective To explore the expression of COX-2,PD-ECGF and VEGF in gastric carcinoma tissue, and analyze and identify the relationship between the expression and tumor angiogenesis together with biological behaviour in gastric carcinoma. Methods ElivisionTM immunohistochemical method was performed to detect the expression of COX-2,PD-ECGF,VEGF and CD34,and evaluate the value of MVD in surgically resected gastric carcinoma specimens and biopsy tissues under gastroscope, including normal gastric mucosa tissues, metaplasia tissues and gastric mucosal atypical hyperplasia tissues. Clinicopathologic data of patients were analyzed retrospectively. Results The positive expression of COX-2, PD-ECGF,VEGF and MVD in gastric carcinoma were significantly higher than those in normal gastric mucosa, metaplasia or gastric mucosal atypical hyperplasia, and also their expression and MVD were closely related to lymph node metastasis and depth of invasion. The MVD in the groups of COX-2,PD-ECGF,VEGF positive-expression were significantly higher than those in negative-expression groups respectively. There were positive correlations among the expression of COX-2,PD-ECGF and VEGF in gastric carcinoma. MVD increased significantly when COX-2, PD-ECGF and VEGF coexpressed. Conclusion The expression of COX-2,PD-ECGF,VEGF and tumor angiogenesis participated in the genesis, invasion and metastasis of human gastric carcinoma.COX-2,PD-ECGF and VEGF participated in the tumor angiogenesis of gastric carcinoma. In the process of tumor angiogenesis and expression in gastric carcinoma, COX-2, PD-ECGF and VEGF could strengthen the effectiveness each other. They could strengthen the effective ness of tumor angiogenesis when they coexpressed. They could be selected as targets for tumor anti-angiogenesis treatment.

RESUMEN

Objective To establish a stable and feasible animal model of acute cerebral infarction, and to evaluate it with functional magnetic resonance imaging and pathology. Methods Twenty-five S-D rats were randomly divided into five groups, and there were 5 rats in each group.Rats in group A were sham-operated for control study.Unilateral middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) was performed with improved thread in group B,C,D,E and were enrolled for MRI and MRS study at 3,6,12,24 hours after MCAO.All rats were examined by 1-hydrogen magnetic resonance spectroscopy(~1H MRS).Two or three rats in each group were sacrificed for 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride(TTC) staining of the brain and two rats for pathological examination after MRS.Results Rats in group A showed no change in brain on ~1 H MRS or pathological study.~1H MRS of the rat brains after right MCAO showed a decrease of N-acetyl-aspartate(NAA),an increase of Lactate(Lac) in all groups. There was no significant change of Choline(Cho) and Creatine(Cr) peaks onrats in group B,C,D.The peaks of Cho and Cr were slightly dropped in group E.Conclusion The acute regional cerebral ischemic model in rats made by our approach is stable and reproducible, and it is suitable for evaluation and study with functional magnetic resonancespectroscopy accurately and sensitively.
