RESUMEN

Objective:To analyze the clinical effect of navigation-assisted cosmetic incision for reduction and internal fixation in treating unilateral B-type zygomatic fracture. Methods:A retrospective cohort study was performed on clinical data of 35 patients with unilateral type B zygomatic fracture treated from January 2018 to December 2019 in First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University. There were 20 males and 15 females at age range of 5-62 years [(38.7±11.3)years]. Navigation-assisted cosmetic incision for reduction and internal fixation was performed for 17 patients (navigation group), and empirical incision to reduction and internal fixation was performed for 18 patients (convention group). The length of bony zygomatic process (zygomatic process) and width of zygomatic temporal point (frontal width) of the bilateral zygomatic bone were measured on the horizontal axis of CT at 1 week after operation. The absolute values of the difference of bony zygomatic process degree and frontal bony width between affected side and the healthy side were compared between the two groups. The patients′ satisfaction and occurrence of complications such as lower eyelid ectropion, incision infection and facial nerve injury were compared between the two groups at half a year after operation. Results:All patients were followed up for 6-24 months [(9.3±1.2)months]. The absolute difference of bony zygomatic process was 0.60(0.25, 0.85) mm in navigation group, and was 0.75 (0.20, 1.98)mm in convention group ( P>0.05). The absolute difference of frontal bony width was (0.37±0.11)mm in navigation group, and was (2.47±0.63)mm in convention group ( P<0.01). Satisfaction rates by both objective evaluation and subjective evaluation in navigation group were better than that in convention group at half a year after operation (both P<0.05). Navigation group showed lower eyelid ectropion in 1 patient and incision infection in 1 patient. Convention group showed facial nerve injury in 1 patient and incision infection in 2 patients. There was no significant difference in the incidence of complications between navigation group [12%(2/17)] and conventional group [17%(3/18)] ( P>0.05). Conclusion:For unilateral type B zygomatic fracture, navigation-assisted cosmetic incision for reduction and internal fixation can more accurately restore the frontal width, and improve satisfaction rate as compared with empirical reduction and internal fixation.

RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate the effects of SIRT7 on acute liver injury induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or D-galactosamine (D-GalN)/LPS and its mechanisms. Methods:Thirteen-week-old C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into normal saline group (n=5), LPS group (n=7), and D-GalN/LPS group (n=8), which were respectively intraperitoneally injected with normal saline, LPS or D-GalN/LPS. The serum and livers of normal saline group and LPS group mice were collected 24 hours after the injection, and the samples of D-GalN/LPS group were collected 8 hours after the injection. Liver pathological changes were compared by using H-E staining, and serological indicators of the mice from three groups were also compared. Liver apoptosis and inflammatory cells infiltration were determined by TUNEL staining and F4/80 staining. Meanwhile, the mRNA levels of SIRT7 and inflammatory factors, including interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) in livers were detected by realtime-PCR. Western blotting was used to detect the protein levels of SIRT7, cleaved-caspase3 and the 78 kDa glucose regulated protein (GRP78) in mouse liver tissues. AML-12 cell line overexpressing SIRT7 was stimulated with LPS, and Western blotting was used to study the roles of SIRT7 in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress induced by LPS in vitro. Results:LPS or D-GalN/LPS induced inflammatory cells infiltration, hyperemia and hepatocytes apoptosis in livers. Meanwhile, serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (GPT) and glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase (GOT) in the mice treated by LPS or D-GalN/LPS were significantly increased. Moreover, both liver SIRT7 mRNA and protein levels were down-regulated, while GRP78 protein in ER stress pathway was up-regulated. In AML-12 cells, SIRT7 overexpression inhibited LPS-induced up-regulation of GRP78. Conclusion:SIRT7 protects against LPS or D-GalN/LPS-induced hepatocytes apoptosis by attenuating ER stress via inactivating GRP78.

RESUMEN

Aim To investigate the protective effect of immunomodulating peptide(PGPIPN) on the acute al-coholic liver injury in mice. Methods Kunming mice were randomly divided into control group, model group, glutataione(GSH) group, PGPIPN low dose group, PGPIPN moderate and high dose groups. The mice were treated with different doses of PGPIPN or GSH for two weeks except control group and model group. The acute alcoholic liver injury model was in-duced by gavage with 56° alcohol for three days. The indices including the activities of AST,ALT in serum, and the contents of TNF-α, MDA, SOD and GSH-Px in liver were examined. Liver histopathological changes were examined by HE staining. Results Compared with control group, the levels of serum ALT,AST and the contents of TNF-α, MDA significantly increased, while the contents of SOD and GSH-Px significantly de-creased in model group. There was hepatocyte apopto-sis and inflammatory cell infiltration in liver tissues. Compared with model group, the activities of serum ALT, AST and the contents of TNF-α, MDA were re-markably reduced in PGPIPN high dose group. The contents of SOD and GSH-Px significantly increased in PGPIPN high dose group. PGPIPN could alleviate the injury of liver. Conclusion PGPIPN has certain pro-tective effect on acute alcoholic liver injury of mice, providing a theoretical guidance.

RESUMEN

Objective·To establish a reliable alcoholic liver disease mouse model (ALDNM) that mimics the drinking pattern of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) patients. Methods·Using the self-designed feeding tubes and liquid diet,ALDNM model was developed through chronic feeding combined with acute gavage of ethanol based on Lieber-DeCarli model and Gao-Binge model.C57BL/6 mice were administered with control liquid diet for adaptation for first 5 d,and then divided into pair-fed group and ethanol-fed group (10 mice each group).Ethanol-fed mice were fed with the liquid diet in which ethanol accounts for 30% of total energy, while the pair-fed mice were fed with the control diet for 10 d.At the 16th day,ethanol-fed mice and pair-fed mice were respectively gavaged a single dose of 31.5% ethanol or isocaloric maltose dextrin, and euthanized 9 h later.Sera and livers were collected. The general physiological condition, hepatic tissue pathological changes and serum indexes between Lieber-DeCarli models and ALDNM models were compared. The liver lipids of ALDNM mice were determined by Oil red O (ORO) staining and hepatic triacylglyceride (TAG) test.Meanwhile, the mRNA levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6),tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α),fatty acid synthase (Fas),long chain fatty acid elongase 6 (Elovl6) and stearyl-CoA desaturase (Scdl) were detected by real-time PCR in ALDNM models.Western blotting was used to detect the changes of phosphorylated signal transduction and transcriptional activator (p-STAT3) in the livers.Results·Lieber-DeCarli model mice were generally in poor condition, and there was no significant change in serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (GPT) and glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT) compared to pair-fed group. However,in ALDNM models,H-E staining showed that the hepatocytes of ethanol-fed mice were extremely swollen with round volume, increased cytoplasm and filled with large amounts of fat vacuoles.ORO staining analyses showed obvious microsteatosis in the liver cells from all ethanol-fed mice. The hepatosomatic index, liver TAG content, serum GPT and GOT of ALDNM models were significantly higher than those in the pair-fed group, while the serum HDL significantly decreased compared to the pair-fed group. Moreover, the expression levels of both lipid synthesis pathways and inflammatory signaling pathways related genes in livers significantly increased in the ethanol-fed mice of ALDNM model. Conclusion·ALDNM model was successfully constructed. This model is cost-and time-efficient.Moreover,ALDNM model mimics the drinking pattern and pathogenesis of ALD patients with the advantages of stable food intake, good repeatability, and obvious liver damage.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE:To observe the efficacy and safety of valsartan combined with prednisone in the treatment of idiopath-ic pulmonary fibrosis. METHODS:50 patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis were randomly divided into control group and ob-servation group. Control group was orally given 0.5 mg/(kg·d)Prednisone acetate tablet in 1-4 weeks, then maintained with 0.125 mg/(kg·d)in 5-12 neeks,2-3 times a day;observation group was additionally given 80 mg Valsartan capsule, orally, once a day. The treatment course for both groups was 6 months. Pulmonary function indicators [forced vital capacity(FVC),peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR),and forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1)],serum inflammatory factor indicators [interleukin-13(IL-13), IL-18,transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)] level, matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9),MMP-2 contents and the incidence of adverse reactions in 2 groups were observed. RESULTS:The total effective rate in observation group was significantly higher than control group, the difference was statistically significant(P0.05);af-ter treatment, pulmonary function indicators in 2 groups were significantly higher than before, and observation group was higher than control group,MMP-9 and MMP-2 contents were significantly lower than before, and observation group was lower than con-trol group(P0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Valsartan combined with prednisone can significantly improve the pulmonary function of patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and reduce the contents of serum inflammatory cytokines and matrix metalloproteinases, with good safety.

RESUMEN

The present article is a study of the therapeutic effect of argon laser photocoagulatiou on branch re- tinal vein occlusion(BRVO)in the early stage of the disease.Fifty-five cases(58 eyes)with BRVO of short duration were divided into an early photoco- agulation group and a late control group, and were followed up for a period of 6 months to 2 years. The results showed that early photocoagulation accelerated absorption of hemorrhages, thus shortening the cour- se of the disease(P0.05),a fact awaiting explanation. The authors hold that photoco- agulation should be done as early as possible in cas- es of BRVO with profuse hemorrhage, large areas of ischemia and anoxemia,or both these conditions,pr- ovided that the refractive media are clear enough, in order that a better prognosis can be expected.
