RESUMEN

Objective To explore the clinical application value of dual-energy imaging with dual-source CT in dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF).Methods Six patients diagnosed as having DAVF by dual-energy angiography with dual-source CT (DECTA),conformed by DSA in our hospital from January 2009 to January 2013,were chosen in our study; their imaging data were retrospectively analyzed. Results The enlarged feeding arteries, dilated draining veins and dural venous sinus of the DAVF in all patients were clearly demonstrated on DECTA.The draining veins of all six patients routed into the intracranial vein with forming venous collaterals. The imaging results were concordant exactly with their results of DSA (100%).The other changes of DAVF by cranial CT were subarachnoid hemorrhage in 3 cases and brain hemorrhage in 2 cases. Conclusion DECTA can demonstrate distinctly the secondary changes, feeding arteries, draining veins, dural venous sinus, and the skull three dimensional structure of DAVF; the imaging results were concordant exactly with their results of DSA,and can replace it in a way,as a new non-traumatic screening choice for suspected DAVF patients before embolization therapy and surgical resection.

RESUMEN

Objective To explore the clinical application value of dual-energy CT angiography (DECTA) for head and cervical vessel diseases. Methods The imaging data and diagnosis results of 146 patients suspected as having head and cervical vascular diseases and underwent DECTA in our hospital from February 2009 to August 2009 were analyzed, retrospectively and compared. Sixteen of them with positive results were also performed whole cerebral vessels DSA. Results Seventy-seven patients (52.74%) were found to have head and cervical vessel diseases under DECTA; 17 patients were diagnosed as having intracranial aneurysm, 13 with carotid artherosclerosis and stenosis, 13 with intracranial and vertebral artery stenosis, 9 with intracranial arteriovenous malformation (AVM), 7 with internal carotid artery (ICA) or vertebral artery occlusion, 4 with neck-face AVM, 3 with Moyamoya disease, 3 with intracranial tumors, 2 with cerebral infarction, 2 with intracranial phlebothrombosis, 1 without imaging in bilateral ICA, 1 with Sturg-Webber syndrome and 1 with primitive trigeminal artery.DSA results were concordant with the DECTA results by finding 15 of 16 patients (93.75%) with head and cervical vessel diseases; 8 patients were detected as having intracranial aneurysm, 4 with ICA or vertebral artery occlusion, 1 with carotid artherosclerosis and stegnosis, 1 with intracranial AVM and 1 with neck-face AVM. The one that DSA did not find any tumors was noted as having 2 microaneurysms by CTA. Conclusion The head and cervical vascular diseases and the feeding artery of tumor can be demonstrated distinctly with DECTA with high diagnosis accuracy and sensitivity.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo investigate the value of dual-source computed tomography (DSCT) angiography in the examination of congenital coronary artery anomalies.

METHODSWe retrospectively examined 2530 patients by DSCT angiography between January 2008 and September 2010. Congenital coronary artery anomalies were shown by maximum intensity projection, curved planar reconstruction, and volume rendering.

RESULTSA total of 284 segments with congenital coronary artery anomalies in 225 patients were displayed. The anomalies included those originated from the main branch of coronary artery (n=121, including 35 segments of right coronary artery with high take-off origin and 24 segments of left coronary artery, 17 segments of right coronary artery dated from left aortic sinus, 4 segments of left coronary artery dated from right aortic sinus, 2 segments of left coronary artery dated from posterior aortic sinus, 2 segments of single coronary artery, and 37 segments of para-coronary artery) , coronary artery dysplasia (n=18) , coronary artery fistula (n=9, including 4 segments of right coronary artery-right ventricle fistula, 2 segments of right coronary artery-pulmonary artery fistula, 2 segments of left coronary artery-left ventricle fistula, and 1 segments of left coronary artery-pulmonary artery fistula) , and myocardial bridge (n=136) . In addition, 818 segments of left sinuatrial nodal artery original anomalies in 1720 patients whose sinuatrial nodal artery were well shown.

CONCLUSIONDSCT can be helpful in detecting the anomalies of coronary artery.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo explore the diagnostic value of the dual-energy technique with dual-source computed tomography (DSCT) for anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

METHODSThe clinical data of 8 patients with arthroscopic results were retrospectively reviewed. All patients underwent two- and three-dimensional imaging by multiplanar reconstruction, volume rendering, and tendon mode on DSCT. Dual-energy characteristics were compared with arthroscopic results.

RESULTSSix patients who were arthroscopically diagnosed as anterior cruciate ligament injuries, all of them were also correctly diagnosed by DSCT. Two patients who were arthroscopically diagnosed as normal, one was also diagnosed as normal by DSCT and the other was misdiagnosed. The overall agreement rate was 87.5% (7/8) . Under the dual energy tendon mode, the dual energy staining of the injured anterior cruciate ligament was lower than that of the contralateral normal cruciate ligament of the patient.

CONCLUSIONThe staining diminution in DSCT imaging may be a new feature that can be used to effectively diagnose anterior cruciate ligament injury.
