RESUMEN

With the rapid development and widespread implementation of all types of ophthalmic surgery, more attention is being paid to the quality of post-operative vision. Dry eye is a common complication after ophthalmic surgery, often causing eye discomfort, blurred vision and other dry eye symptoms. Ophthalmic surgery-related dry eye is a common type of dry eye and is usually caused by a combination of surgical injury to the conjunctival tissue and nerves, destabilisation of the tear film, postoperative inflammatory reaction and perioperative topical medication. This article reviews the risk factors for ophthalmic surgery-related dry eye, the pathogenesis of dry eye due to different ophthalmic surgeries and the prevention of this type of dry eye, with the aim of reducing the occurrence and development of ophthalmic surgery-related dry eye and improving the quality of vision and life after ophthalmic surgery in the clinical setting.

RESUMEN

AIM: To investigate the changes of morphology and function of meibomian glands in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and its influence on the tear film. METHODS: A total of 52 patients(104 eyes)with type 2 diabetes mellitus who came to our hospital from January 2018 to January 2020 were selected. Then they were divided into non-diabetic retinopathy group(NDR group, 31 cases with 62 eyes)and diabetic retinopathy group(DR group, 21 cases with 42 eyes)according to the fundus changes. While 38 cases(76 eyes)of diabetic-free cataract patients who treated at the same time were selected as the control group. The differences of three groups were compared with the morphology and the scores of the function of lid edge and meibomian glands, the scores of fluorescence staining of cornea, break-up time(BUT)of tear film, lipid layer thickness(LLT), blink times(BT)and partial blink rate(PBR).RESULTS: The morphology and the scores of function of lid edge and meibomian glands, the scores of fluorescence staining of cornea were significantly higher than the control group, and the DR group was significantly higher than the NDR group(all P<0.05). The BUT in the DR group and NDR group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the DR group was significantly lower than that in the NDR group(all P<0.05). There were differences in LLT, BT and PBR among the three groups(P<0.05). The LLT and BT in the DR group and NDR group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and PBR was significantly higher than that in control group(all P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between the DR group and the NDR group(all P>0.05). Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with morphology abnormalities of meibomian gland have a higher incidence of abnormal tear film function.CONCLUSION: Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus are prone to shortening and loss of meibomian glands, which is easy to cause the dysfunction of the meibomian gland and decrease the stability of the tear film. While the patients with DR, the morphology abnormalities and dysfunction of the meibomian glands are more pronounced, and the stability of the tear film is worse.

RESUMEN

AIM:To investigate the influence of K-115 on the proliferation and migration of human Tenon's fibroblasts(HTFs)and to access the possible mechanism. Furthermore, to provide new ideas for anti-scar treatment after glaucoma surgery.METHODS: The Tenon capsule tissues were collected from patients who underwent glaucoma surgery in Hebei General Hospital from September 2018 to September 2019. Primary culture of HTFs was performed by tissue block method. The transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)was used to induce HTFs activation that can mimic glaucoma filtration surgery. The cells were treated with K-115 and divided into 4 groups: the control group was treated with dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO); TGF-β1 group was treated with 10μg/L TGF-β1 for 24h; TGF-β1 +5 K-115 group was pretreated with 5μmol/L K-115 for 2h and then treated with 10μg/L TGF-β1 for 24h; TGF-β1+10 K-115 group was pretreated with 10μmol/L K-115 for 2h and then 10μg/L TGF-β1 was added for 24h. Cell proliferation was observed by cell proliferation experiment. The migration ability of cells was detected by scratch test. The formation of autophagosomes was observed by transmission electron microscopy. Apoptosis was visualized by Hoechst 33342/PI staining.RESULTS: Cell proliferation experiment revealed that K-115 could inhibit the proliferation of HTFs induced by TGF-β1. Scratch test suggested that K-115 could inhibit the migration of HTFs induced by TGF-β1. Transmission electron microscope results showed that K-115 could enhance autophagy of HTFs induced by TGF-β1. Hoechst 33342/PI staining suggested that K-115 did not induce apoptosis.CONCLUSIONS: K-115 may regulate the proliferation and migration of HTFs induced by TGF-β1 by increasing autophagy rather than inducing apoptosis.

RESUMEN

Objective@#To analyze the relationship between screen time and gross motor development and to provide scientific basis for health promotion among preschool children.@*Methods@#In March 2021, gross motor of 373 children from 5 kindergartens in Baotou was tested by Test of Gross Motor Development (TGMD). Screen time (ST) was collected by parental questionnaire. Paired t-test was used to compare the screen time between working days and weekends, and independent sample t-test was used to compare the differences of children s motor development between different sexes.@*Results@#ST of children was (52.10±31.67) min/d during the week and (65.79±10.36) min/d during the weekend. There were significant differences in the total scores of gross motor and mobile motor of children in different sexes( t=2.35, 2.65, P <0.05). The correlation between total screen time and gross motor, mobile motor and operant motor was statistically significant ( r =-0.22--0.20, P <0.01). Multiple linear regression showed that the time spent watching TV and the time spent using mobile phones during the week were the main factors affecting the gross motor development.@*Conclusion@#There is a significant negative correlation between children s screen time and gross motor development. It is important to reduce the time spent on TV and mobile phone to improve childhood gross motor development.

RESUMEN

In recent years, the overexpression dopamine (DA) due to the use of addictive drugs has caused concern and urgently needs to be addressed. The method used in our study is known as biomimetic sol-gel synthesis. We undertook the experiment to develop molecularly imprinted xerogel polymers (MIXPs) through template molecules dopamine polymerized with polyethyleneimine (PEI), then self-assembled and crosslinked with tetramethoxysilane (TMOS) in the form of non-covalent hydrogen bonds by using biomimetic sol-gel process, and then eluted template DA will leave a blotting site. Monoamine oxidase immobilized MIXPs (MAO-MIXPs) was obtained by coating monoamine oxidase onto MIXPs. The synthesis optimization of MAO-MIXPs was finally set as the ratio of DA template, PEI and MAO coating (DA 40 mg, PEI 0.6 mL, MAO 2.5 mg·g-1) to achieve highly selective adsorption toward DA in artificial cerebrospinal fluid based on the adsorption performance and degradation performance. The micromorphologies and physical-chemical properties of MAO-MIXPs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimeter and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and then amount of adsorption was calculated with adsorption equation. Simultaneously, the Brunner-Emmet-Teller (BET) and Langmuir model were simulated. It was found that the adsorption behavior tended to be monolayer adsorption. This new molecularly imprinted polymer demonstrated potential dopamine expression regulation for highly selective recognition, adsorption and degradation of dopamine.

RESUMEN

The discovery of penicillin has effectively controlled the infection caused by Gram-positive bacteria. Afterwards, the research and development of antibacterial drugs has entered the golden age, and made a great contribution to human health. However, in recent years, with the increasing use of antibiotics around the world, pathogenic bacteria drive gene mutation to obtain drug resistance to ensure its survival advantage, and promote the transfer of drug-resistant genes, resulting in a sharp increase of drug-resistant bacteria. In addition, the current development speed of new antibiotics is far slower than the growth and spread speed of drug-resistant bacteria, which makes the drug-resistant crisis more serious and becomes one of the biggest threats to the global community. Compared with the same type of bacterial infection, drug-resistant bacterial infection has the characteristics of complexity and refractoriness, which causes worse clinical outcome and higher risk of death in patients, and brings severe challenges to clinical work. If the trend of bacterial drug resistance is not controlled, the crisis of no drug available will come. Therefore, it is urgent to explore effective alternative means to fight against bacterial drug resistance and reduce the harm of drug-resistant bacterial infection. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has unique advantages in the treatment of infectious diseases. Compared with modern antibacterial drugs, it has the characteristics of wide sources, rich active ingredients, and is not easy to produce drug resistance. It may be an important source for screening and developing new anti-infective drugs. Therefore, it is promising to develop and utilize TCM to solve the problem of drug-resistant bacteria infection. This paper will review relevant studies in recent years in terms of interfering with the biochemical metabolism of drug-resistant bacteria to directly inhibit or kill drug-resistant bacteria, improving bacterial drug resistance to indirectly inhibit bacteria and kill bacteria, and maintaining the balance of the body and regulating the treatment of drug-resistant bacteria infection as a whole, so as to provide references for guiding clinical medication and research and development of new traditional Chinese medicines.

RESUMEN

Diabetes mellitus complicated with cerebral infarction is the commonest and most serious vascular complication of diabetes mellitus. With a high disability and mortality rate, it seriously threatens human health. Because the pathogenesis is still unclear, more and more scholars have focused on the research of diabetic cerebral infarction at home and abroad. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) compounds have a remarkable curative effect in the treatment of diabetic cerebral infarction. Its mechanisms of action mainly include anti-hypertension, reduction of blood sugar and lipid, promotion of vascular regeneration and vascular endothelial function, anticoagulation, anti-thrombosis, improvement of nerve function defect, reduction of infarct volume, improvement of hemorheological, inhibition of inflammation and platelet aggregation, and promotion of collateral circulation. Through literature search, this paper summarizes the research progress of the mechanisms of TCM compounds in treating diabetic cerebral infarction in recent five years at home and abroad, in order to provide reference for clinical treatment.

RESUMEN

This study aimed to investigate the role of hypoxia-inducible factor-2α (HIF-2α) in the expression of tight junction proteins and permeability alterations in rat glomerular endothelial cells (rGENCs) under hypoxia conditions. The expression level of HIF-2α and tight junction proteins (occludin and ZO-1) in rGENCs were examined following 5% oxygen density exposure at different treatment times. HIF-2α lentivirus transfection was used to knockdown HIF-2α expression. Cells were divided into four groups: 1) control group (rGENCs were cultured under normal oxygen conditions), 2) hypoxia group (rGENCs were cultured under hypoxic conditions), 3) negative control group (rGENCs were infected with HIF-2α lentivirus negative control vectors and cultured under hypoxic conditions), and 4) Len group (rGENCs were transfected with HIF-2α lentivirus and cultured under hypoxic conditions). The hypoxia, negative control, and Len groups were kept in a hypoxic chamber (5% O2, 5% CO2, and 90% N2) for 24 h and the total content of occludin and ZO-1, and the permeability of rGENCs were assessed. With increasing hypoxia time, the expression of HIF-2α gradually increased, while the expression of occludin decreased, with a significant difference between groups. ZO-1 expression gradually decreased under hypoxia conditions, but the difference between the 24 and 48 h groups was not significant. The permeability of cells increased following 24-h exposure to hypoxia compared to the control group (P<0.01). The knockdown of HIF-2α expression significantly increased occludin and ZO-1 content compared with hypoxia and negative control groups (P<0.01), while permeability was reduced (P<0.01). Hypoxia increased HIF-2α content, inducing permeability of rGENCs through the reduced expression of occludin and ZO-1.

RESUMEN

To compare static and dynamic metabolomics data analysis of CUMS (chronic unpredictable mild stress)-induced depression, GC-MS spectrometry was conducted on the plasma metabolome. S-Plot and ANOVA (analysis of variance)-simultaneous component analysis (ASCA) were respectively applied to static and dynamic analysis of metabolomics data. Static metabolomics data analysis revealed three typical plasma metabolites including propionic acid, D-allose, and 9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid, while dynamic me-tabolomics data analysis found seven typical metabolites including propionic acid, D-allose, My-inositol, me-thylamine, etc. The abundances of typical metabolites observed by dynamic metabolomics data analysis were consistent with the variation trends of body weight and sugar water preference rate of CUMS rats. In conclusion, dynamic metabolomics analysis revealed more typical plasma metabolites, which have the potential to explain variations of body weight and behavior parameter of CUMS-induced depression rats. Combination of static and dynamic metabolomics data analysis may provide a strong support to the pathological study of complex diseases.

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To explore the clinical efficacy of moxibustion on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in the patients and the impacts on the inflammatory indices.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Forty RA patients were randomized into an observation group and a control group, 20 cases in each one. In the control group, diclofenac sodium sustained release tablets were used, 0.3 g each time, twice a day; methotrexate tablets were used, 10 mg each time, once a week; folic acid was used, 5 mg each time, once a week. In the observation group, on the basis of the treatment as the control group, moxibustion was added specially on the swelling and painful joints, once a day, 15-20 min each time till: the local skin turned slightly red. The treatment was given once a day, at the interval of 1 day after every 6 treatments. In the two groups, the efficacy was observed after 30-day treatment. Before and after treatment, the rheumatoid factor (RF), high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), disease activity score-28 (DAS-28) and the score of joint symptom and physical signs were observed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Compared with those before treatment, the levels of RF, hs-CRP, ESR, DAS-28 and the symptom scale score were all reduced in the RA patients of the two groups after treatment (all P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the levels of RF, hs-CRP, ESR, DAS-28 and the symptom scale score in the observation group were improved much apparently (all P < 0.05). The total effective rate was 85.0% (17/20) in the observation group and was 80.0% (16/20) in the control group. The total effective rate in the observation group was apparently better than that in the control group (P < 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Moxibustion as supplement relieves the joint symptoms, reduces the inflammatory reactive indices and improves the clinical efficacy in the RA patients.</p>

RESUMEN

· AlM: To observe the characteristic of choroidal circulation in diabetics and investigate its changes as well as the relationship between it and the development and progression of diabetic retinopathy ( DR) . ·METHODS:All 45 diabetics were divided into 3 groups:no diabetic retinopathy ( NDR), nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy ( NPDR ) , proliferative diabetic retinopathy ( PDR);and 20 health people were selected to be control group. All subjects were examined by FFA and indocyaine green angiography ( lCGA ) ( Heidelberg retina tomography, Germany ) at the same time. The characteristics of angiograph results were comparatively observed and the feature of diabetic choroidapathy were analyzed. · RESULTS: ( 1 ) There were no significant differences between DR groups and control group in the central retinal artery ( CRA ) filling time. There were significant decreases of the choroidal artery filling time in DR groups, compared to the control group (P ·CONCLUSlON:lCGA may be a useful adjunct to FFA in the evaluation of choroidal vascular changes in DR.The research provides that the diabetic choroidal circulation was abnormal before the occurrence of DR, which fully proved the presence of diabetic choroidopathy.
