RESUMEN

As one of the standard electrophysiological signals in the human body, the photoplethysmography contains detailed information about the blood microcirculation and has been commonly used in various medical scenarios, where the accurate detection of the pulse waveform and quantification of its morphological characteristics are essential steps. In this paper, a modular pulse wave preprocessing and analysis system is developed based on the principles of design patterns. The system designs each part of the preprocessing and analysis process as independent functional modules to be compatible and reusable. In addition, the detection process of the pulse waveform is improved, and a new waveform detection algorithm composed of screening-checking-deciding is proposed. It is verified that the algorithm has a practical design for each module, high accuracy of waveform recognition and high anti-interference capability. The modular pulse wave preprocessing and analysis software system developed in this paper can meet the individual preprocessing requirements for various pulse wave application studies under different platforms. The proposed novel algorithm with high accuracy also provides a new idea for the pulse wave analysis process.

RESUMEN

Objective To establish a mouse model of H.pylori infection, and to evaluate the chronic pathological changes in the gastric mucosa associated with H.pylori infection. Methods 34 male 5~6-week old SPF C57BL/6 mice were used in this study. The mice were intragastrically administrated with a suspension of H.pylori SS1 strain. Two weeks after infection, rapid urease test and PCR were performed to confirm the H.pylori infection.Successfully infected mice were randomly divided into 3 groups including the control group, 6-week and 12-week infected groups.Samples of gastric mucosa were taken for pathological analysis using HE and borax methylene blue staining. The contents of myeloperoxidase (MPO), superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) and catalase (CAT) in the gastric tissues were detected by biochemistry, and the expression levels of COX-2, iNOS, TNF-α and IL-1β were examined by RT-qPCR.Results Compared with the control group, H.pylori colonization was observed in the gastric mucosa of the 6-week and 12-week infected mice, with chronic inflammatory cell infiltration, glandular atrophy and intestinal metaplasia to varying extents. The contents of CAT and SOD were significantly decreased, while the levels of MPO and malonaldehyde MDA, and the expression levels of COX-2,iNOS,TNF-α and IL-1β were significantly increased (P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusions Intragastric administration with H.pylori in C57BL/6 mice can be successfully used to generate the bacterial colonization, leading to chronic inflammatory cell infiltration, enhanced oxidative stress, and up-regulated expression of proinflammatory genes in the gastric glandular tissues at 6 and 12 weeks after inoculation. However, the inflammatory changes are more extensive in the mice at 12 weeks after infection, with glandular atrophy and intestinal metaplasia.

RESUMEN

AIM To speculate the hypoglycemic mechanism for rats with type 2 diabetes by exploring the therapeutic effects of leaf aqueous extract from Cyclocarya paliurus on liver insulin receptor (InsR) and insulin receptor substrate 2 (IRS-2).METHODS The diabetic rat model was established through intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin and fed with high-fat diet. The moleled rats were equally assigned into the control group and leaf aqueous extract from Cyclocarya paliurus group (extract group). After the test extract was orally administrated for four weeks, body weight, urine output, food intake, water intake and fasting blood-glucose (FBG) were measured, and the levels of serum insulin,InsR and IRS-2 mRNA in liver tissue were investigated in rats.RESULTS Compared with the control group, the extract group showed a reduction in urine output, food intake, water intake,FBG and insulin levels.Meanwhile, the rats' body weights in extract group were presented a trend to increase. The gene expressions of InsR and IRS-2 in liver tissue were up-regulated.Moreover,the insulin sensitivity was improved.CONCLUSION The leaf aqueous extract from Cyclocarya paliurus can reduce FBS,improve insulin sensitivity, which may be associated with the increase of InsR and IRS-2 gene expression in liver tissue.

RESUMEN

The procedure of occlusal treatment involves improving the morphology and the stomatognathic function.Several practical methods and morphological endpoints have been described in occlusal rehabilitation. We made a selection of these (mandibular position,oc-clusal plane, occlusal guidance, occlusal contact,face-bow transfer, use of an adjustable articulator and occlusal support)and performed a literature review to verify the existence of compelling scientific evidence for each of these.A literature search was conducted using Medline /PubMed in March 2011.Over 400 abstracts were reviewed, and more than 50 manuscripts selected. An additional hand search was also con-ducted.Of the many studies investigating stomatognathic function in relation to specific occlusal schemes, most studies were poorly designed and of low quality, thus yielding ambiguous results.Overall, there is no scientific evidence that supports any specific occlusal scheme being superior to others in terms of improving stomatognathic function, nor that sophisticated methods are superior to simpler ones in terms of clini-cal outcomes. However,it is obvious that the art of occlusal rehabilitation requires accurate, reproducible, easy and quick procedures to re-duce unnecessary technical failures and /or the requirement for compensatory adjustments. Therefore, despite the lack of scientific evidence for specific treatments, the acquisition of these general skills by dentists and attaining profound knowledge and skills in postgraduate training will be necessary for specialists in charge of complicated cases.

RESUMEN

Objective To establish a rapid and accurate method, and to determine the density of mice and rats sperm with enzyme-labeled instrument. Methods ①The optimal wavelengths and the regression equation set up: After six Kunming mice and six Sprague-Dawley rats were sacrificed, the left epididymis was separated and fully cut up in phosphate buffer saline. With water bath, the sperm were fully dissociated.Using the enzyme-labeled instrument to detect the wavelength absorbance respectively under different wavelength and fitting absorbance curve. The best wavelength will be the most close to 1 of the correlation coefficient ( R2 ) and the standard deviation of minimum. After ten Kunming mice and ten Sprague-Dawley rats were sacrificed, the sperm suspension of different concentration gradient were got.The regression equation of the sperm density and absorbance was established by using enzyme-labeled instrument and haemocytometer.②The test of sperm absorbance stability: Mice and rats, six respectively, were used to make the sperm suspension.Samples were put in room temperature (25℃) or 37℃water bath continued, and after water bath about 0,20,30,40,50, 60 min,the change of absorbance was recorded.③The regression equation verification:The mice were administrated orally with 20% ethanol solution for 30 days to make oligospermia. In order to verify the new method, two different method were used to get the sample sperm. Results The optimal absorbancy-sperm density curve could be established at 380 nm.The means of KM mice sperm count ( x1 ) and absorbance ( y1 ) are showed to be the linear function, and the linear regression equation is y1 =2 ×10 -9 x1 +0.0648, R2 =0.9743.The means of SD rat sperm count ( x2 ) and absorbance (y2) are showed to be the linear function, and the linear regression equation is y2 =5 ×10 -9x2 +0.0621,R2 =0.9940.SD rat sperm suspension liquid after 60 min in water bath, absorbance value at 0 min significantly decreased(P<0.05), but at room temperature after 40 min significantly increased ( P<0.05); KM mice sperm suspension in the water bath and under the condition of normal temperature after 50 min, compared with the 0 min, absorbance value increased significantly(P<0.05).Compared with control group, sperm density of ethanol oligozoospermia group by enzyme standard detector and standard curve calculation were significantly decreased ( P <0.05 );compared with absorbancy-sperm density equation, determination of ethanol oligozoospermia group of sperm density by cell counting plate method had not significant difference. The results suggested absorbancy-sperm density equation could effectively detect the reduction of the mice sperm in oligospermia. Conclusion Using enzyme-labeled instrument to set up the curve of absorbancy-sperm density equation can estimate the sperm density of mice and rats rapidly and exactly.

RESUMEN

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the clinical effects of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) in patients with chronic heart failure, and compare the clinical characteristics and outcome between responders and non-responders to define factors related to the efficacy of CRT.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>We retrospectively analyzed the data of patients underwent CRT-P/D implantation from January 2006 to December 2012 in our Hospital. All patients received long-term follow-up including NYHA classification, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and left ventricular internal dimension at end diastole (LVIDd).</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>A total of 204 patients were included (130 males, mean age (64.8 ± 11.9) years). The total response rate of CRT was 61.3%. Women, QRS duration ≥ 150 ms, and left bundle branch block (LBBB) were related with better response after CRT (all P < 0.05). Multivariate regression analysis showed that QRS duration was an independent determinant for CRT response. All-cause mortality rate was significantly lower in responder group than in non-responder group (P < 0.001).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>In patients with chronic heart failure, women, QRS duration ≥ 150 ms, and LBBB are related with better CRT response rate post CRT. QRS duration ≥ 150 ms is an independent predictor of CRT response, and positive response is associated with lower all-cause mortality in this patient cohort.</p>

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE@#To make 3-D reconstruction of frontal recess by high speed spiral CT, which can be helpful to nasal endoscopic frontal sinus operation.@*METHOD@#Fifty-one cases (102 laterals) of frontal recess 3-D reconstruction by 16 line high speed spiral CT were enrolled in the research, which included 58 laterals with chronic frontal sinusitis and 44 laterals of normal nasal sinus. The structure of frontal recess, the agger nasi and the adhere style of uncinate process were recognized. The parameter of frontal recess was measured. Finally the data of two groups were compared and analyzed.@*RESULT@#CT 3-D reconstruction of frontal recess could display the frontal sinus, frontal endosome and frontal recess. The shape of frontal recess varied greatly in different cases, which depended on the near structure especially agger nasi and uncinate process. The difference of average Y axes inner diameter between agger nasi and frontal endosome was significant. The difference of average Y axes inner diameter between frontal endosome and anterior nasal spine, between the line of frontal endosome to anterior nasal spine and the line of Aeby's plane and between bhullar cell and anterior nasal spine were not significant in two groups.@*CONCLUSION@#The drainage flow of frontal recess depends on the near structures especially on the agger nasi and uncinate process. The prevalence of agger nasi is high, and the position of it is constancy, as far agger nasi can be an anatomic landmark of frontal sinus operation. The position of frontal endosome is constancy. The scalloped area from anterior nasal spine 50-60 degrees to the line of Aeby's plane and within 100 mm radius is safety section to nasal endoscopic frontal sinus operation. CT 3-D reconstruction of this area is helpful to avoid insult.
