RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the effect and mechanism of panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) on atrial fibrillation in rat model. Methods The rats were randomly divided into control group, atrial fibrillation group and intervention group, with 16 rats in each group.Except the control group, atrial fibrillation rat model was established in the other two groups by continuous tail vein injection of acetylcholine 66 μg/ml and calcium chloride 10 mg/ml mixture. From the first day of modeling,PNS 100 μtg/g was intraperitoneally injected in the intervention group, while the control group and atrial fibrillation group were intraperitoneally injected with saline of equal volume once a day for 7 days. After 7 days, electrocardiogram was recorded, effective refractory period was detected, and myocardial tissue was stained with Masson staining. The expression of phosphatidyl inositol 3-kinase (PI3K) and protein kinase B (AKT) in myocardial tissue was detected by Western blots. Results After 7 days, atrial fibrillation was observed in atrial fibrillation group, while the duration of atrial fibrillation in intervention group was significantly decreased (24.3 ± 2.6 s vs.43.2 ± 4.6 s,P<0.05).The ERP time in intervention group was significantly prolonged (95.0 ± 10.0 s vs.75.5 ± 7.6 s,P<0.05),but it was still lower than that in the control group (P<0.05).Western blots showed that the levels of PI3K and AKT in atrial fibrillation group decreased significantly, while those in intervention group increased significantly (P<0.05).Conclusions PNS could activate PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, reduce the degree of atrial fibrosis, improve ERP and reduce the duration of atrial fibrillation in rats with atrial fibrillation.

RESUMEN

Objective]To summarize the clinical experience of Zhang Yu-zhu to treat Bi-Syndrome. [Methods] Summarized the academic view and clinical experience of Zhang yu-zhu to treat Bi-syndrome,including etiology and pathogenesis, therapeutic principle and the formulas of Zhang Yu-zhu. Summarize the compatibility and modified formulas, and proven cases attached. [Result] The cause of Bi-syndrome was divided into two types: one was external pathogen, which was caused by wind, cold and wet. The other was internal pathogen, including spleen and kidney deficiency, the unbalance of Ying qi and Wei qi and insecurity of the interstices. When diagnosing and treating Bi-syndrome ,he emphasized combining Chinese and western medicine and syndrome differentiation. [Conclusion]Zhang Yu-zhu's treatment of Bi-syndrome has evident effect.

RESUMEN

A pot experiment was conducted to study effect of drought stress on leaf physiological characteristics and growth of one year old Stellaria dichotoma seedlings. The result showed that plant height and shoot dry weight significantly decreased with decrease in soil water content; however, root length and root dry weight increased at light drought stress and decreased at severe drought stress. The result also showed that with the decrease of soil water content, proline content in S. dichotoma leaves decreased then increase, while solube protein content decreased. Activities of SOD and POD in S. dichotoma leaves significantly decreased as soil water content decreased, while activity of CAT significantly decreased at severe drought stress. Membrane permeability in S. dichotoma leaves increased, while MDA content decreased then increased as soil water decreased. These results suggest that S. dichotoma had osmotic stress resistance ability and reactive oxygen scavenging capacity at light drought stress, which caused S. dichotoma growth was no inhibited at a certain extent drought stress.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo study the clinicopathologic features and immunophenotype of renal cell carcinomas, and to discuss their diagnostic value.

METHODSThe clinicopathologic features of 114 cases of renal cell carcinoma were reviewed and categorized on the basis of 2004 WHO classification. Immunohistochemical study for a panel of antibodies (including CK, CD10, vimentin, CD117, AMACR, CK7 and TFE3) was carried out. The follow-up data, if available, were also analyzed.

RESULTSThe cases were reclassified into 5 subtypes, including 77 cases (67.5%) of clear cell carcinoma (CCRCC), 11 cases (9.6%) of papillary renal cell carcinoma (PRCC), 14 cases (12.3%) of chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (chrRCC), 10 cases (8.8%) of renal carcinoma associated with Xp11.2 translocations/TFE3 gene fusions (Xp11.2RCC) and 2 cases (1.8%) of unclassified renal cell carcinoma (unRCC). Immunohistochemical study showed that the expression rates of CK, CD10 and vimentin in CCRCC were 93.5% (72/77), 93.5% (72/77) and 75.3% (58/77), respectively. On the other hand, all the 11 cases of PRCC studied were positive for AMACR. The expression rate of CD117 in chrRCC was 78.5% (11/14). In the 10 cases of Xp11.2 RCC studied, the expression rates of TFE3, AMACR, CD10 and CK were 100% (10/10), 100% (10/10), 90% (9/10) and 70% (7/10), respectively.

CONCLUSIONSThe various subtypes of renal cell carcinomas are heterogeneous in histologic appearance and demonstrate distinctive immunophenotype. The expressions of CD10, vimentin, CD117, AMACR, CK7 and TFE3 are helpful in the differential diagnosis.
