RESUMEN

40 cases suffered from idiopathic cardiac diseases [28 with cardiomyopathy, 8 with myocarditis and 4 with valvular lesions] and 40 cases suffered from idiopathic rheumatic diseases [30 with musculoskeletal complaints and 10 with myositis]. Sera were investigated by enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay [ELISA] and indirect fluorescent antibody technique [IFAT] using Sarcocystis fusiformis antigen in order to detect the role of Sarcocystis in initiation of these diseases. 20 positive toxoplasmic sera and sera from 20 normal individuals were considered as control group. The sera of the investigated cases were tested against Toxoplasma gondii antigen to exclude it as one of the causative agents of these idiopathic lesions. No statistical difference was found between IFAT and ELISA in the diagnosis of sarcocystosis. Also, there was no cross reaction between sarcocystis and toxoplasma. This study showed that sarcocystis can be considered as one of the possible cause of some idiopathic diseases

RESUMEN

Serum total, direct and indirect bilirubin, serum asparate aminotransferase [SGOT], serum alanine aminotransferase [SGPT], total protein, albumin, globulin, blood urea and creatinine were estimated in twenty five Entamoeba histolytica cyst passers, five trophozoite passers and five healthy control persons. It was found that in trophozoite passers there was an increase in total bilirubin than normal and no changes in indirect bilirubin. However, direct bilirubin, serum alanine aminotransferase [SGPT], serum aspartate aminotransferase [SGOT], total protein, albumin, globulin, urea and creatinine were decreased. While in cysts passers all above parameters were increased except blood urea was decreased. There was direct relationship between the intensity of infection and tested parameters in both cyst and trophozoite passers

RESUMEN

Cryptosporidium oocysts, were collected, 18 out of 200 [9%] children [6-12 years old] from two schools children in Sharkia province, represented Urban and Rural zones. The infection was higher in Rural zone to be 11 out of 100 [11%] than urban zone to reach 7 out of 100 [7%]. It was also higher among children at 6 years old, to be 6 out of 40 [15%] and 4 out of 40 [10%] in Rural and Urban zones respectively. Experimental cross transmission of humor cryptosporidium oocysts to albino mice and rats were succeeded to produce infection. Diarrhoea may or not be found as the signs of the patients infected with cryptosporidiosis
