RESUMEN

Background@#The gut microbial dysbiosis and gender differences in the pathogenesis of acne vulgaris have long been postulated respectively. However, there was no data about a genderrelated discrepancy in gut microbiota and microbial metabolism in acne. @*Objective@#This study aimed at identifying the underlying gender-related difference in gut microbiota and metabolism in acne vulgaris. @*Methods@#Fecal samples were collected from 43 acne patients and 43 age and gender-matched controls. Gut microbiota was analyzed by sequencing the V3-V4 region of 16SrDNA gene and microbial metabolites were quantitatively detected using gas chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry. @*Results@#Compared with healthy controls, the men had a lower abundance of 18 microbes such as Butyricicoccus, Clostridium sensu stricto, Faecalibaculum, Bacillus, Lactococcus, Blautia, Clostridiales, Lachnospiracea incertae sedis, Ruminococcus at genus level. However, the female patients only showed increased Clostridium sensu stricto and declined Oscillibacter and Odoribacterin. Additionally, the disordered metabolism of fatty acids was identified in male patients, while the dysbiosis of amino acids metabolism in female ones. @*Conclusion@#The disorder of gut microbiota and metabolism in acne vulgaris was genderspecific, which supported the potential role of gender difference in the pathogenesis of this disease.

RESUMEN

Precise drug delivery to tumors with low system toxicity is one of the most important and challenging tasks for pharmaceutical researchers. Despite progress in the field of nanotherapeutics, the use of artificially synthesized nanocarriers still faces several challenges, including rapid clearance from blood circulation and limited capability of overcoming multiple physiological barriers, which hamper the clinical application of nanoparticle-based therapies. Since leukocytes (including monocytes/macrophages, neutrophils, dendritic cells and lymphocytes) target tumors and can migrate across physiological barriers, leukocytes are increasing utilized as carriers to transfer nanoparticles to tumors. In this review we specifically focus on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of leukocytes that can be exploited as a vehicle to deliver nanoparticles to tumors and summarize the latest research on how leukocytes can be harnessed to improve therapeutic end-points. We also discuss the challenges and opportunities of this leukocyte-derived nanoparticle drug delivery system.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the effect of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) on kidney injury in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Methods SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: Sham operation (S) group,SAP group, and LMWH treatment (LT) group. In LT group LMWH was administrated 4 hours after SAP model establishment. The levels of serum amylase, creatinine (Cr) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-?), renal morphological change, and the expression of p65 mRNA and protein in renal specimens were determined 24 hours after model establishment or LMWH treatment. Results The levels of serum amylase,Cr,TNF-? in SAP group were significantly higher than those in S group and LT group (all P0.05). The expression of p65 protein and mRNA of renal tissues in SAP group was significantly higher than that in S group and LT group (all P

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the protective efficiency of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) on lung injury in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP).Methods SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:(1) Sham operation (S) group,(2) SAP group,(3) LMWH treatment (LT) group:LMWH was administrated 4 hours after SAP model was constructed. The levels of serum amylase,endothelin1(ET-1),tumor necrosis factor ? (TNF-?),lung wet/dry weight ratios, pulmonary morphology, the expressions of P65mRNA and P65 protein in pulmonary specimens were detected at 1d after the models were set up,and the 3 days survival rate in each group was also observed. Results (1) The levels of serum amylase,TNF-?,ET-1 in SAP group were significantly increased than those in S group and LT group (all P

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the role of detection of circulation alpha-fetoprotein(AFP) mRNA and telomerase activity in peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC) of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods In patients with HCC,benign liver tumors, chronic liver diseases, and healthy volunteers, expression of circulation AFPmRNA and telomerase activity in PBMC were detected using nest reverse transcriptase-PCR(Nest RT-PCR) or PCR-ELISA respectively.Results(1) All the patients with benign liver tumors(n=10),chronic liver diseases(n=30),and healthy volunteers(n=30) had negative expression of circulation AFPmRNA,and the positive rate of circulation AFPmRNA in patients with HCC(73.3%,22/30)(all P

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate low molecular weight heparin(LMWH) therapy for pancreatic encephalopathy in severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).Methods SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:(1) Sham operation(S) group,(2) SAP group and(3) LMWH treatment(LT) group:LMWH was administrated at 4 hours after construction of SAP model. The levels of serum amylase, myelin basic protein(MBP),tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-?),interleukin 6(IL-6),brain water contents and pathological changes of pancreas and brain were measured at 24 h after models were set up in SAP and in S group, and 24 h after LMWH was administrated in LT group.Results(1) The levels of serum amylase,TNF-?,IL-6 in SAP group were significantly higher than those in S group and LT group(all P 0.05).(2) The brain water content in SAP group was significantly higher than that in S group and LT group(P

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the expression of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes in hepatitis B virus (HBV) related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods mRNA was extracted from cancerous and paracancerous tissues of 22 patients with HBV related HCC and synthesized into cDNA. The cDNA labeled with 33p dATP was hybridized for cDNA microarray each consisting of 3170 genes or expressed sequence tags (EST). The differential expression genes were searched in gene data base and verified using RT PCR. Results The differential expression of 1369 genes or EST was identified including 121 genes or EST altered 2 times or more in cancerous tissues compared with paracancerous tissues. Compared with paracancerous tissues, 88 showed overexpression and 33 genes were down regulated. The positive expression of transmembrane 4 superfamily member 1 (TM4SF1) in cancerous tissues was 86.4 % and could not be detected in paracancerous tissues (P
