RESUMEN
BACKGROUND@#Cutaneous wound healing represents a common fundamental phenomenon requiring the participation of cells of distinct types and a major concern for the public. Evidence has confirmed that photobiomodulation (PBM) using near-infrared (NIR) can promote wound healing, but the cells involved and the precise molecular mechanisms remain elusive. @*METHODS@#Full-thickness skin defects with a diameter of 1.0 cm were made on the back of rats and randomly divided into the control group, 10 J, 15 J, and 30 J groups. The wound healing rate at days 4, 8, and 12 postoperatively was measured. HE and Masson staining was conducted to reveal the histological characteristics. Immunofluorescence staining was performed to label the epidermal stem cells (ESCs) and hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs). Western blot was performed to detect the expressions of proteins associated with ESCs and HFSCs. Cutaneous wound tissues were collected for RNA sequencing. Gene ontology and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analysis was performed, and the hub genes were identified using CytoHubba and validated by qRT-PCR. @*RESULTS@#PBM can promote reepithelialization, extracellular matrix deposition, and wound healing, increase the number of KRT14+/PCNA+ ESCs and KRT15+/PCNA+ HFSCs, and upregulate the protein expression of P63, Krt14, and PCNA. Three hundred and sixty-six differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 7 hub genes including Sox9, Krt5, Epcam, Cdh1, Cdh3, Dsp, and Pkp3 were identified. These DEGs are enriched in skin development, cell junction, and cadherin binding involved in cell–cell adhesion etc., while these hub genes are related to skin derived stem cells and cell adhesion. @*CONCLUSION@#PBM accelerates wound healing by enhancing reepithelialization through promoting ESCs and HFSCs proliferation and elevating the expression of genes associated with stem cells and cell adhesion. This may provide a valuable alternative strategy to promote wound healing and reepithelialization by modulating the proliferation of skin derived stem cells and regulating genes related to cell adhesion.

RESUMEN
Abstract Objective: To investigate the relationship between the changes of C-reactive protein to Albumin Ratio (CAR) levels and Interval Debulking Surgery (IDS) outcome after Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy (NAC) in ovarian cancer patients. Methods: A nested case-control study for 209 patients with ovarian cancer who received NAC-IDS therapy from the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College between 2015‒2021 was conducted. Demographic data, laboratory indicators, and imaging examinations were collected. The outcome was regarded as optimal IDS in this study. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to assess the relationship of CAR before NAC, CAR after NAC and ΔCAR with optimal IDS. The authors also performed the subgroup analysis based on menopausal state. Results: The end time of follow-up was January 24, 2022. A total of 156 patients had been treated with optimal IDS, and 53 with suboptimal IDS. After adjusting age, body mass index, menopausal state, NAC drug, peritoneal perfusion and CAR before NAC, the result showed that CAR after NAC (Odds Ratio [OR = 3.48], 95% Confidence Interval [95% CI 1.28‒9.48], p = 0.015) and ΔCAR (OR = 0.29, 95% CI 0.11‒0.78, p = 0.015) were associated with optimal IDS, respectively. Additionally, the authors found a significant correlation between CAR after NAC and optimal IDS (OR = 3.16, 95% CI 1.07‒9.35, p = 0.038), and ΔCAR and optimal IDS (OR = 0.32, 95% CI 0.11‒0.94, p = 0.038) among ovarian cancer patients with menopause. Conclusion: CAR after NAC and ΔCAR were independent prognostic markers of optimal interval debulking surgery for ovarian cancer patients.
RESUMEN
Objective @#To explore the prognostic value of chemoradiotherapy based on the depth of invasion (DOI) in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma.@* Methods @#Patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma who received surgical treatment in a hospital from 2008 to 2016 were enrolled. The chi-square test was used to compare the effects of DOI on postoperative cervical lymph node metastasis and local recurrence. The effects of chemoradiotherapy on postoperative cervical lymph node metastasis, local recurrence, and survival were analyzed based on the DOI.@*Results@# A total of 111 patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma were included in this study. The postoperative local recurrence rate (P<0.05) and cervical lymph node metastasis rate (P<0.05) of patients with 5 mm < DOI ≤ 10 mm and DOI > 10 mm were significantly higher than those with DOI ≤ 5 mm. The time of postoperative recurrence was concentrated within two years after the operation. The greater the DOI was, the shorter the time to postoperative recurrence (P<0.05). The addition of postoperative chemoradiotherapy did not significantly improve the postoperative local recurrence rate, cervical lymph node metastasis or survival rate of patients with different DOIs (P > 0.05). @*Conclusion@#DOI has important predictive value for postoperative recurrence, cervical lymph node metastasis and survival rate. However, DOI cannot be used as an independent index to guide whether chemoradiotherapy is needed after oral cancer surgery.

@#Abstract: Chigger mites belong to the phylum Arthropoda, class Arachnida, sub-class Acari, order Parasitiformes, family Trombiculidae and Leeuwenhoekiidae, with a wide range of species. There are more than 3 700 known species of mites globally, of which 531 species in 46 genera from three sub-families have been recorded in China, and 320 species of chigger mites recorded from 3 subfamilies and 32 genera in Yunnan Province. At this stage, chigger mites are the only vectors of scrub typhus, with about 60 species worldwide being potential vectors. Six vectorial mite species have been confirmed in China, including Leptotrombidium deliense, L.scutellare, L.rubellum, L.sialkotense, L.kaohuense, L.insulare. Yunnan Province has reported five vectorial mite species, including the previously-mentioned five species except for L.sialkotense. The zoogeographic study divided Yunnan Province into 5 zoogeographic areas, namely, Central Hengduan Mountains subregion, Southern Hengduan Mountains subregion, Eastern Yunnan Plateau subregion, Western Yunnan Plateau subregion, Southern Yunnan Mountainous subregion. The Southern Hengduan Mountains subregion has the highest number of known genera and species of scrub typhus and the highest number of scrub typhus cases, with 216 species in 22 genera from 3 subfamilies, and all 5 species of vector scrub typhus were distributed. Southern Yunnan Mountain subregion has the least number of mite species, with 91 species in 12 genera from three sub-families, with L. scutellare being the dominant vectorial mite species across the province. Due to suitable natural geographic conditions in Yunnan Province, vectorial mites can propagate rapidly, leading to a large number of scrub typhus cases. According to statistics, the number of scrub typhus cases in Yunnan Province has rapidly increased, with 15.40 times, 20.64 times and 28.91 times more cases in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively than in 2006. Scrub typhus remains a serious public health problem in Yunnan Province, posing a threat to the health of the local population. Therefore, prevention and control efforts should continue to focus on the affected areas and the general public.

@#Abstract: Objective To investigate the early diagnostic value of peripheral blood procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), fibrinogen (FIB) and D-dimer (D-D) levels in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) complicated with bacterial pneumonia. Methods A total of 102 patients who admitted to Department of Tuberculosis of Affiliated Nantong Hospital of Shanghai University from Jan 2021 to May 2022 were enrolled in this study and divided into a group (52 cases) with pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) patients and a group (50 cases) with PTB patients complicated with bacterial pneumonia. The levels of PCT, CRP, FIB and D-D in the peripheral blood were measured, the differences and correlations in all indicators were compared among two groups. The sensitivity and specificity of these indicators in the early diagnosis of PTB complicated with bacterial pneumonia were analyzed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results The levels of PCT, CRP, FIB and D-D in the peripheral blood from the PTB complicated with bacterial pneumonia group were 0.06 (0.04, 0.16) ng/mL, 38.00 (3.88, 96.10) mg/L, 4.51 (3.02, 6.07) g/L, and 0.59 (0.34, 1.88) mg/L, respectively, which were significantly higher than corresponding 0.04 (0.03, 0.04) ng/mL, 3.20 (0.84, 7.22) mg/L, 2.96 (2.48, 3.77) g/L, and 0.27 (0.17, 0.36) mg/L in the PTB group (Z=-4.784, -5.233, -3.853, -4.199, all P<0.001). Furthermore, the levels of CRP and FIB in the PTB complicated by bacterial pneumonia group were highly positively correlated (r=0.855, P<0.001). The area under the ROC curve (AUC) of PCT, CRP, FIB and D-D for early diagnosis of PTB complicated with bacterial pneumonia were 0.757, 0.794, 0.747 and 0.764, respectively. In addition, the AUC obtained by simultaneous measurement of PCT, CRP, FIB and D-D was as high as 0.916, and the sensitivity and specificity of diagnosing PTB complicated with bacterial pneumonia were increased to 85.7% and 96.9%, respectively, which were higher than those of individual indicators. Conclusions Levels of peripheral blood PCT, CRP, FIB, and D-D all show varying degrees of increase in patients with PTB complicated with bacterial pneumonia, and detecting the levels of all four markers, rather than any single marker, can assist in early monitoring whether the tuberculosis patients are complicated with bacterial pneumonia.

Abstract The AMC-HN-8 cell line and the primary human laryngeal epithelial cell lines were utilized in this work to explore the molecular mechanism of miR-548-3p regulating the gene DAG1 to induce the occurrence and malignant transformation of laryngeal carcinoma. Non-coding RNA miR-548- 3p overexpression plasmid, interference plasmid and blank plasmid were constructed, and the plasmids were transfected into AMC-HN-8 cells, respectively. Meanwhile, a non-transfected plasmid group and a human laryngeal epithelial primary cell group were set up. Five groups of cells were named as NC (Normal control), Model, Ov-miR-548-3p, Sh-miR-548-3p and Blank-plasmid group. The luciferase reporter experiment was used to analyze the regulation characteristics of hsa-miR-548-3p on dystrophin-associated glycoprotein 1 (DAG1). Immunofluorescence was used to analyze the relative expression characteristics of the protein DAG1. The cell cloning experiment was used to analyze the proliferation characteristics of AMC-HN-8. The scratch healing test was used to analyze the migration ability of AMC-HN-8. The transwell test was used to analyze the invasion ability of AMC-HN-8. The RT-PCR was used to analyze the expression level of miR-548-3p. Western blot experiments were used to analyze the expression of protein DAG1, laminin α2 (LAMA2) and utrophin (UTRN). The luciferase report experiment and immunofluorescence test found that the expression of DAG1 and miR-548-3p are positively correlated. Cell cloning, scratching and migration experiments identified that the activity of laryngeal cancer cells was positively correlated with the expression of DAG1. The results of Western blot analysis further strengthened the above conclusions. Through carrying out research on the cellular levels, our work has demonstrated that miR-548-3p regulated the content of protein DAG1, and then further induced malignant transformation of laryngeal carcinoma.
The long-circulating effect is revisited by simultaneous monitoring of the drug payloads and nanocarriers following intravenous administration of doxorubicin (DOX)-loaded methoxy polyethylene glycol-polycaprolactone (mPEG-PCL) nanoparticles. Comparison of the kinetic profiles of both DOX and nanocarriers verifies the long-circulating effect, though of limited degree, as a result of pegylation. The nanocarrier profiles display fast clearance from the blood despite dense PEG decoration; DOX is cleared faster than the nanocarriers. The nanocarriers circulate longer than DOX in the blood, suggesting possible leakage of DOX from the nanocarriers. Hepatic accumulation is the highest among all organs and tissues investigated, which however is reversely proportionate to blood circulation time. Pegylation and reduction in particle size prove to extend circulation of drug nanocarriers in the blood with simultaneous decrease in uptake by various organs of the mononuclear phagocytic system. It is concluded that the long-circulating effect of mPEG-PCL nanoparticles is reconfirmed by monitoring of either DOX or the nanocarriers, but the faster clearance of DOX suggests possible leakage of a fraction of the payloads. The findings of this study are of potential translational significance in design of nanocarriers towards optimization of both therapeutic and toxic effects.
RESUMEN
Influenza is an infectious respiratory disease caused by the influenza viruses. Older people, infants and people with underlying medical conditions could have a higher risk of severe influenza symptoms and complications. The co-infection of Coronavirus Diseases 2019 (COVID-19) with influenza viruses could lead to the complication of prevention, diagnosis, control, treatment, and recovery of COVID-19. Influenza vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine overlapped in target populations, vaccination time, and inoculation units. Although there was insufficient evidence on the immunogenicity and safety of co-administration of influenza vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine, World Health Organization and some countries recommended co-administration of inactivated influenza vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine. This review summarized domestic and international vaccination policies and research progress, and put forward corresponding suggestions in order to provide scientific support for the formulation of vaccination strategy on seasonal influenza vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine.
