RESUMEN

Allogeneic heart transplantation (HTx) is the primary treatment for patients with end-stage heart failure. Nevertheless, the long-term complication of cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) after HTx is the main factor affecting the long-term survival of the recipients. Up to now, there is no effective methods to prevent and treat CAV. This article reviews the pathological manifestations of CAV, immunological factors of CAV and other risk factors of CAV, aiming to provide novel ideas and understanding for CAV research.

RESUMEN

Stroke activates neural stem cells in the ventricular-subventricular zone (V/SVZ) of the lateral ventricle, which increases neuroblasts and oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs). Within the ischemic brain, neural stem cells, neuroblasts and OPCs appear to actively communicate with cerebral endothelial cells and other brain parenchymal cells to mediate ischemic brain repair; however, stroke-induced neurogenesis unlikely plays any significant roles in neuronal replacement. In this mini-review, we will discuss recent findings how intercellular communications between stroke-induced neurogenesis and oligodendrogenesis and brain parenchymal cells could potentially facilitate brain repair processes.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo investigate the development of the electrophysiological property of bushy cells in the anterior ventral cochlear nucleus (AVCN) of neonatal Sprague Dawley (SD) rats.

METHODSThe development of action potential and spontaneous miniature excitatory postsynaptic currents (mEPSCs) in AVCN bushy cells were investigated by whole-cell patch-clamp technique in SD rats during the postnatal days 5-21 (P5-21). The half band width of the action potential (AP), 10%-90% risetime and decay tau of the mEPSCs were analyzed.

RESULTSThe AP of the bushy cells became faster with age from P5 to P21 and stopped changing around the period of hearing onset, as evidenced by the alteration of half band width of the AP. The time accuracy of mEPSCs of the bushy cells also increased with age and stabilized around hearing onset as shown by briefer 10%-90% rise time and decay tau of mEPSCs in P14/P21 than in P7.

CONCLUSIONThe functional refinement of the bushy cells in the AVCN precedes hearing onset in neonatal rats.

RESUMEN

Objective To study the association between sympathetic skin response(SSR) and diabetic autonomic neuropathy(DAN), and explore its use as the objective base for its early diagnosis. Methods SSR was carried out in 30 patients with DAN and 30 healthy controls. Results The SSR indices of the patient with diabetic mellitus(DM) either with or without DAN were different from those of normal objects. Conclusion The SSR detection and analysis can detect the early dysfunction of the autonomic system in diabetic mellitus and may be a useful testing for early diagnosis of diabetic neuropathy.
