OBJECTIVE To explore t he significance of reducing the incidence rate of airway burn of CO2 laser laryngeal surgery by spreading the idea of grading prevention st rateg y. M ETHODS We retrospectively reviewed the data of laryngeal lesions treated by the endoscopic CO2 laser surgery from Feburary 1992 to December 2016. The period was divided into two stages, the first one is from Feburary 1992 to December 2008, and the second one is from January 2009 to December 2016. We will distinguish the difference of airway burn between the two stages. RESULTS Four cases of airway burn were found in the first stage including 3 cases of glottic cancer and 1 case of vocal cord polyp with Reink's edema. But no airway burn happened in the second stage. Two cases of endotracheal intubation cuff broken by laser were found promptly, but with FiO2 decreasing from 70% to 30%, wet gauze filling subglottic region and the endotracheal tube reserved, the laser surgery proceeded till airway burn happened. The endotracheal intubation cuffs of the remaining two cases kept intact intraoperatively, the FiO2 was 70% when airway burn happened. One case had the cervical tracheal stenosis with long-term tracheotomy, The other 3 cases had no postoperative complications. CONCLUSION The grading prevention strategy is helpful for reducing airway burn during the CO2 laser surgery of larynx.

RESUMEN
Lack of mucoadhesive properties is the major drawback to poloxamer 407 (F127)-basedhydrogels for mucosal administration. The objective of the present study was to construct a novel mucoadhesive and thermosensitivehydrogel drug delivery system based on an amino-functionalized poloxamer for vaginal administration. First, amino-functionalized poloxamer 407 (F127-NH) was synthesized and characterized with respect to its micellization behavior and interaction with mucin. Then using acetate gossypol (AG) as model drug, AG-loaded F127-NH-basedhydrogels (NFGs) were evaluated with respect to rheology, drug release, vaginal mucosal adhesion, intravaginal retention and local irritation after vaginal administration to healthy female mice. The results show that F127-NHis capable of forming a thermosensitivehydrogel with sustained drug release properties. An interaction between positively charged F127-NHand negatively charged mucin was revealed by changes in the particle size and zeta potential of mucin particles as well as an increase in the complex modulus of NFG caused by mucin.andfluorescence imaging and quantitative analysis of the amount of AG remaining in mouse vaginal lavage all demonstrated greater intravaginal retention of NFG than that of an unmodified F127-basedhydrogel. In conclusion, amino group functionalization confers valuable mucoadhesive properties on poloxamer 407.

Poly (lactic acid) (PLA) is a polymer synthesized from lactic acid with good biocompatibility and biodegradability. At present, PLA manufactured on industrial scale is mainly synthesized from L-lactic acid. The obtained products have good transparency but poor heat resistance. Adding nucleating agents could increase the crystallinity of PLA, to improve heat resistance. We reviewed the progress of research on organic and inorganic nucleating agents that can be used for PLA synthesis.

Background:Gastric cancer is the second most frequently diagnosed cancer and the third cause of cancer death in China. Selection of candidates in high risk of gastric cancer by a simple and non-invasive marker with high sensitivity and then undergoing endoscopy is an optimal approach for large scale gastric cancer screening. Aims:To evaluate the clinical value of using trefoil factor 3(TFF3)as a serum biomarker for gastric cancer screening. Methods:Serum samples of 49 gastric cancer patients and 29 healthy subjects were collected for measurements of serum TFFs by ELISA from Jul. 2013 to Jan. 2014 at Ningbo Medical Treatment Center Lihuili Hospital. ROC curve and the area under curve(AUC)were used to verify the diagnostic performance of serum TFF1,TFF2 and TFF3 for gastric cancer. Correlations between TFFs and clinicopathological characteristics of gastric cancer were further analyzed. Results:Serum concentration of TFF3 in gastric cancer group was significantly higher than that in healthy controls[(43. 57 ± 19. 49)ng/ mL vs.(29. 97 ± 14. 20)ng/ mL, P 0. 05). AUC of serum TFF1,TFF2 and TFF3 for diagnosis of gastric cancer were 0. 56,0. 56 and 0. 83, respectively, which indicated that the performance of TFF3 was the best. Taken 33. 0 ng/ mL as the cut off value of TFF3, the sensitivity and specificity were 63. 3% and 82. 8% ,respectively, and the odds ratio for predicting gastric cancer was 8. 27. Significant correlations were existed between serum concentration of TFF3 and TNM stage, differentiation and lymph node metastasis of gastric cancer(P < 0. 05). Conclusions:Serum TFF3 is a promising non-invasive biomarker for gastric cancer screening.

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the clinical prognostic impact factors of adult sinonasal rhabdomyosarcoma (SNRMS).@*METHOD@#The clinical features, treatment methods, and disease outcome were reviewed retrospectively for twenty-three adult SNRMS between 2006 January and 2014 December. The survival analysis was performed by Kaplan-Meier estimate and the comparison between groups by Log-rank test. Multivariate analysis was carried out by Cox proportional hazard model.@*RESULT@#Patients' ages ranged from 18 to 59 years (median, 23.2 years). With a median follow-up of 20 moths (3-47 moths), 14 cases dead and 9 cases alive, the 1-year and 2-year overall survival (OS) rates were 77.1% and 35.0%, respectively. Within the 1-year and 2-year OS rates, early stage group had a higher overall survival rates than advanced diease group (100.0%, 66.7% and 83.3%, 10.5%, P < 0.05); combined therapy group had a higher overall survival rates than single treatment group (86.7%, 50.0% and 50.8%, 0, P < 0.05). In the non-metastasis group (21 cases), 1-year and 2-year distant metastasis rates were 38.1% and 70.5%, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that radiotherapy, chemotherapy and tumor diameter less than 5 cm were good prognostic factors (P < 0.05), while the lymph node metastasis, meningeal involvement and orbital involvement were poor prognostic factors (P < 0 05). In the 14 cases of dead patients, 92 8% (13/14) died of distant metastasis.@*CONCLUSION@#Adult RMS had a high advanced rate with poor prognosis. Distant metastasis is the leading cause of death. Controlling distant metastasis is a key to improve the survival rate.

Background and purpose:Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a malignancy which is the third incidence and the fourth mortality in the worldwide. The main reason for the development of CRC is that the changes of genetic and epigenetic causes the tumor suppressor gene methylation silencing. This study aimed to investigate the plasma and stool GATA5 gene promoter methylation was detected in clinical diagnosis of CRC. Methods: To collect the paired plasma and stool specimens of 34 cases of healthy and 43 cases of patients with CRC. Methylation speciifc PCR (MSP) was respectively detected the GATA5 gene methylation levels of GATA5 gene in plasma and stool. And then separately analyzed their correlations with clinical and pathological parameters in gastric carcinoma. Results: The result of MSP showed that GATA5 gene promoter methylation rates in plasma and stool of CRC patients were 60.74%, 76.60%, respectively, were higher than those of healthy persons (6.47%, 32.35%). And the differences were statistically signiifcant (P=0.006 7, P=0.000 2, respectively). GATA5 gene methylation rates in plasma of CRC patients were closely related to clinical stage (P=0.000 5) and lymph node metastasis(P=0.020), while GATA5 gene methylation rates in stool of CRC patients had no signiifcant with clinical and pathological parameters. Conclusion:Detection of faecal GATA5 gene methylation level and supplemented plasma GATA5 gene methylation level can become a simple, non-invasive, sensitive and speciifc method for clinical diagnosis of CRC.
