RESUMEN

Objective To explore relationship between resistin'adipenectin and insulin resistance(IR) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). Methods Based on polysomnography (PSG) and disease history ,68 patients were divided into three groups: mild ( L, n = 24 ), moderate ( M, n = 13 ), severe ( S, n = 31 ) OSAHS, and normal control ( n = 20 ). Fasting serum glucose, insulin, lipoids, resistin and adipanectin were measured. HOMA-IR was calculated, the correlation between HOMA-IR and resistin, adiponectin, lipoids, body mass index, waist-to-hip ratio, apnea-hypopnea index ( AHI), the lowest saturation of blood oxygen ( LSaO2) and the per-centage of total sleep time spent with an oxygen saturation less than 90% (T90) were analysed. Results The levels of serum resistins in each OSAHS group were (8.04 ±2. 14), ( 10.85±4.89 ), ( 13.34±3.52 )mg/L, and were sig-nificantly higher than those in control group ( 9.49 ± 2.40) mg/L ( P < 0.05 ), S were significantly higher than L (P<0.05) ;The levels of serum adiponectin of OSAHS groups were(6. 21 ± 1.74), (4. 19±1.80), (2.26± 1.17 ) mg/L, and were significantly lower than those in control group(9.49±2.40) mg/L (P < 0.05 ), and the inter-group differences were statistically significant (P <0. 05). HOMA-IR of M and S were(4.07±0.97), (5.61± 2.26) significantly higher than those of L and control group( 1.57 ±0. 58 ), (2.47 ±1.52 ) ( P < 0.05 ), and inter-group differences between M and S were statistical significant( P < 0.05 ). Spearman correlation analysis showed that HOMA-IR was significantly positive correlated with resistin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, body mass index,waist-hip rafio,AHI,T90( r =0. 794,0.438,0. 430,0. 351,0. 456,0.775,0.624 ,P <0.01 ) ,negative with adiponectin, LSaO2 (r=-0.563, -0.623 ,P <0.01 ). Partial correlation analysis showed that after the effect of adiponeetin and resis-tin were controlled,HOMA-IR was significant positive correlation with T90 and AHI(r =0.231,0.358 ,P <0.05 ). Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that, to HOMA-IR, resistin and AHI were the most significant impact factors (R2 =0.613,F=69.810,P<0.01). Conclusions HOMA-IR is significantly positively correlated with the severity of OSAHS,independent of the blood lipids, body mass index, waist-hip ratio, resistin, adiponectin and other factors;the effects of blood lipids, body mass index,waist-hip ratio and other factors on HOMA-IR probably depend on resistin and adiponectin;AHI and plasma resistin level may determine the level of insulin resistance in patients with OSAHS.

RESUMEN

AIM: To explore regulation of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced elevation of Ca 2+ intracellular level in alveolar macrophages(AMs) from patients with chronic bronchitis by Angelica Sinensis and nifedipine.METHODS:AMs was obtained from 7 patients with chronic bronchitis and 6 normal controls by bronchoalveolar lavage and intracellular Ca 2+ level was detected after adding Angelica Sinensis, nifedipine or LPS to the supernatant of AMs loaded by Fura-2. RESULTS: In contrast with normal control group (99.65?32.21 nmol/L), intracellular Ca 2+ level in AMs from chronic bronchitis group (189.47?23.69 nmol/L) was increased significantly in the absence of extracellular Ca 2+ but not 1 mmol/L. Intracellular Ca 2+ level in AMs from chronic bronchitis group were significantly increased by adding 10 ?g/mL LPS to the supernatant of AMs. LPS-induced elevation of intracellular Ca 2+ level in AMs from chronic bronchitis group was completely inhibited by Angelica Sinensis or nifedipine.CONCLUSION: Both Anelica Sinensis and nifedipine may inhibit activation of AMs from patients with chronic bronchitis by reducing LPS-induced elevation of intracellular Ca 2+ level in AMs, suggested that these two medicines may inhibit non-specific inflammation of airways in chronic bronchitis.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and side effects of malignant serosal effusion through injecting donor lymphocytes into serosal cavity once for all. Methods First, the serosal effusion was drained thoroughly, then donor lymphocytes were injected into pleural cavity once for all. Results Nine cases of malignant serosal effusion were treated;significant effectiveness included five cases, partial effectiveness four cases. The effect rate was 100 %.The main side effects were fever and chest pain. Conclusion Treatment of malignant serosal effusion through injecting donor lymphocytes into serosal cavity once for all has definite effectiveness, with acceptable side effects.

RESUMEN

AIM: To investigate the effect of bilirub in on acute lung injury (ALI) and the mechanism. METHODS: 30 male Wistar rats were divided into normal group, ALI group and bilirubin treatment group. Lung specimens were examined by histopatho logical te chnique. Lung index (LI) and lung permeability index (LPI) were measured. Moreov er, white blood cell (WBC) count, neutrophil percentage (PMN%) and the content o f protein (Pr) in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), as well as the conten ts of sup eroxide dismutase (SOD), malonaldehyde (MDA) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in the lung homogenate were determined. RESULTS: (1) In ALI group: LI, WBC count, PMN%, Pr and LPI incre ased significantly compared with normal group (P 0.05) was observed. (2) In ALI group, the content of MDA was significantly high er (P0.05). CONCLUSION: Bilirubin relieves ALI induced by LPS in rats via an tioxidation.

RESUMEN

AIM: To study the changes of serum autoantibodies against ? 1- adrenergic and M 2-muscarinic receptors in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), that is, overlap syndrome (OS). METHOD: Serum autoantibodies against ? 1 and M 2 receptors in 26 cases with OS, 32 with OSAS, 30 with COPD and 28 normal subjects were determined by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). RESULTS: The positive rates and titer of ? 1 and M 2 receptor autoantibodies are significantly increased in OS group (92.2%,57.7% and 1∶98, 1∶67), compared to OSAS (71.9%, 40.6% and 1∶83, 1∶30) or COPD group (70.0%, 36.7% and 1∶79, 1∶28) (P
