Introducción. Durante 2020 y 2021, la circulación de los virus influenza se mantuvo por debajo de lo esperado en todo el mundo. En Argentina, en el año 2022 observamos una circulación ininterrumpida de influenza todo el año. Nuestros objetivos fueron describir los patrones de circulación y las características clínicas de niños internados con influenza. Población y métodos. Estudio retrospectivo, analítico, observacional. Se incluyeron todos los niños internados en un centro pediátrico con detección del virus influenza durante los años 2019-2022. Resultados. Se internaron 138 pacientes en 4 años; en 2019 se observó una tasa del 4,5/1000 egresos hospitalarios mientras que en 2022, fue del 15,1/1000. En 2020 y 2021 no hubo casos. En el 2019 la mayoría de los casos ocurrieron en invierno, la causa de la internación fue la infección respiratoria aguda baja (IRAB) en el 79 % y se detectó influenza A en el 92 % de los casos. En el 2022, la mayoría de los casos ocurrieron en primavera, el 62 % presentó IRAB y en el 56 % se detectó influenza A. Ambos períodos tuvieron similares frecuencias de vacunación y de comorbilidades. Conclusiones. En el 2022 se registraron más internaciones por influenza, lo que podría corresponder a que se realizaron métodos diagnósticos moleculares, que son más sensibles, y se observó un cambio en la estacionalidad con más casos en primavera. En 2019 predominó influenza A en infecciones del tracto respiratorio inferior, mientras que en el 2022 influenza A y B fueron similares, y hubo más formas extrapulmonares.
Introduction. During 2020 and 2021, the circulation of influenza virus remained below expectations worldwide. In Argentina, in 2022, we observed an uninterrupted circulation of influenza all year round. Our objectives were to describe the circulation patterns and clinical characteristics of hospitalized children with influenza. Population and methods. Retrospective, analytical, observational study. All children with influenza virus admitted to a children's hospital during the 20192022 period were included. Results. A total of 138 patients were admitted over 4 years; in 2019, the rate of hospital discharges was 4.5/1000, compared to 15.1/1000 in 2022. No cases were recorded in 2020 and 2021. In 2019, most cases were observed in the winter; in 79%, the cause was acute lower respiratory tract infection (ALRTI); influenza A was detected in 92%. In 2022, most cases occurred in the spring; 62% developed ALRTI; and influenza A was detected in 56%. Similar rates of vaccination and comorbidities were observed in both periods. Conclusions. In 2022, more hospitalizations due to influenza were recorded, which may have correlated with the use of more sensitive molecular diagnostic testing and a change in seasonality, with more cases observed in the spring. In 2019, influenza A predominated in lower respiratory tract infections, while in 2022, cases of influenza A and B were similar, with more extra-pulmonary forms.

Objetivo: estimar a oviposição e distribuição espacial de vetores Aedes durante a estação de inverno e correlacionar essas estimativas com dados climáticos do mesmo período. Métodos: estudo de campo conduzido no município de Barbacena-MG, em 2018. O monitoramento, a coleta de ovos e a estimativa de índices estegômicos de vetores Aedes foram obtidos por meio de ovitrampas. Os Índices de Densidade de Ovos (IDO) e de Positividade de Ovitrampas (IPO%) foram estimados conforme estações climáticas e semanas epidemiológicas. A correlação entre parâmetros meteorológicos (temperatura/pluviometria) e índices estegômicos (IDO/IPO) foi determinada pelo coeficiente de Spearman. Resultados: um total de 1.080 ovitrampas, instaladas em 39 bairros, foi analisado durante 10 semanas epidemiológicas, fornecendo um total de 970 ovos. Nas estações de outono, inverno e primavera, foram obtidos, respectivamente, 421, 470 e 70 ovos. Durante o outono, houve variação do IDO entre 14,2 e 34,2. O IPO manteve-se constante em 4,5%. Durante o inverno, houve variação do IDO entre 0,00 e 47,50 e do IPO entre 0,00% e 8,25%. Houve correlação negativa significativa tanto entre aumento da precipitação mensal e diminuição do número de ovos coletados (rho=-0.673) quanto entre aumento da precipitação mensal e diminuição do IPO (rho=-0.612). O valor geral do IDO e do IPO nas 10 semanas foi, respectivamente, 22,04 e 4,17% e, na estação de inverno, foi, respectivamente, 23,50 e 3,73%. Conclusão: os achados corroboram a presença de ovos e vetores do gênero Aedes mesmo em condições climáticas adversas para essas espécies e sustentam ações de manejo sanitário durante todo o ano.
Objective: to estimate oviposition and spatial distribution of Aedes vectors during the winter season and correlate these estimates with climate data from the same period. Methods: field study conducted in the municipality of Barbacena-MG in 2018. Monitoring, egg collection, and estimation of stegomic indices of Aedes were obtained using ovitraps. The Indices of Egg Density (EDI) and Positive Ovitrap (POI%) were estimated according to climatic seasons and epidemiological weeks. The correlation between meteorological parameters (temperature/rainfall) and stegomic indices (EDI/POI) was determined by the Spearman coefficient. Results: a total of 1,080 ovitraps installed in 39 neighborhoods were analyzed during ten (10) epidemiological weeks, providing a total of 970 eggs. In the autumn, winter, and spring seasons, 421, 470, and 70 eggs were obtained, respectively. During the autumn, there was a variation in EDI between 14.234.2. The POI remained constant at 4.5%. During the winter, the EDI varied between 0.0047.50, and the POI varied between 0.00%8.25%. There was a significant negative correlation, respectively, between an increase in monthly precipitation and a decrease in the number of eggs collected (rho=-0.673) and between an increase in monthly precipitation and a decrease in POI (rho=-0.612). The overall value of EDI and POI in the ten (10) weeks was 22.04 and 4.17%, and in the winter season, they were 23.50 and 3.73%, respectively. Conclusion: the findings corroborate the presence of eggs and vectors of the genus Aedes even in adverse climatic conditions for these species and support health management actions throughout the year.

Objective@#To observe the effects of multi sensory stimulation (MSS) intervention on the psychological state, neurobiology, and neuroelectrophysiological indicators of college students with Internet addiction disorder (IAD), so as to provide high quality evidence for the optimization of IAD intervention plans.@*Methods@#At the beginning of the spring semester of 2022-2023 academic year, 114 first year and sophomore IAD college students from Chongqing Second Normal University were selected by group random sampling method, and were randomly assigned into control group, physical exercise group, and observation group (28 in each group). The control group received routine psychological intervention, while the physical exercise group received routine physical exercise on the basis of the control group. The observation group received a MSS intervention on the basis of the control group. The MSS intervention included 8 means of color, incense, music, lozenges, press needle, massage, Tai Chi and static work. The intervention periocl was from April 1 to June 30, 2023, and all three groups were intervened for 12 weeks. The revised Chinese Internet Addiction Scale (CIAS-R), Self Control Scale (SCS), Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90) were observed before and after intervention, dopamine (DA) and β Endorphin (β EP) concentration were collected, and the amplitude and latency levels of N200 were analyzed by Event Related Potential (ERP).@*Results@#The CIAS-R score of the observation group (36.08±4.98) was lower than physical exercise group (49.55±5.19) and control group (54.82±4.10), and the SCS score of the observation group (76.08± 1.98 ) was higher than physical exercise group (66.16±1.92) and control group (52.59±1.53) ( F=12.08, 13.18, P <0.05). In comparison of various dimensions of SCL-90, the observation group showed lower scores in the four dimensions of somatization, depression, anxiety, and psychoticism compared to the other two groups ( F=9.11, 8.92, 8.17, 8.48, P <0.05). In the dimensions of obsessive-compulsive symptoms, interpersonal sensitivity, and others in observation group were lower than the control group ( F= 4.20 , 5.16, 5.60, P <0.05). However, there was no difference in the two dimensions of terror and paranoia among the three groups ( F=0.24, 0.19, P > 0.05). The levels in plasma DA, βEP and the amplitude and latency of N200 among observation group were better than other two groups, and the differences were statistically significant ( F=9.92, 8.93, 6.24, 8.05, P <0.05).@*Conclusion@#MSS intervention can alleviate the related symptoms of IAD college students, improve neurobiological and neurophysiological indicators.

Objective To investigate and evaluate the nutrition status in serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D[25(OH)D]levels of 0~12 years old children in Xi'an.Methods A total of 2 670 patients aged 0~12 years old who underwent routine physical examinations in Children's Health Department of the Second Hospital of Air Force Medical University were selected from March 2020 to July 2023,and the 25(OH)D data of these patients were conducted in retrospective analysis.The nutritional status of vitamin D in these children of different genders,ages and seasons were also analyzed.Results ①This study included 2 670 children aged 0~12 years old in Xi'an,with the average level of serum 25(OH)D was 40.80±18.00 ng/ml.Among them,38 cases(1.42%)had serum 25(OH)D deficiency,333 cases(12.47%)had serum 25(OH)D insufficience,and 2 299 cases(86.11%)had sufficient serum 25(OH)D.②There was a statistically significant difference in serum 25(OH)D levels among different age groups(H=1 524.23,P=0.000).The group aged 1~<4 has the highest value of 52.51±13.57 ng/ml,while the group aged 8~12 has the lowest value of 21.65±6.75 ng/ml.③The levels of serum 25(OH)D in summer(39.44±17.46 ng/ml)were lower than those in spring(41.96±17.76 ng/ml)and autumn(42.71±18.15 ng/ml),with statistical significant differences(Z=101.57,-134.06,all P<0.01).However,the deficiency and inadequate rate of serum 25(OH)D in winter(18.95%)was higher than those in spring,summer and autumn(13.52%,12.75%,12.36%),with statistical significant differences(χ2=14.32,P=0.026).④There was no statistically significant difference in serum 25(OH)D levels between genders(H=0.933,P=0.351).However,the deficiency and inadequate rate of serum 25(OH)D in boys(12.51%)was lower than that in girls(15.46%),and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=9.257,P=0.010).Conclusion The nutritional status of serum 25(OH)D in children aged 0~12 years in Xi'an area is comparatively fine,and it is necessary to strengthen the intake and supplementation of vitamin D in over 3 years old children.

Objective:To investigate the safety and efficacy of intravascular intervention in ruptured intracranial vertebral artery dissecting aneurysm (IVADA).Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed; 25 patients with ruptured IVADA (25 aneurysms) admitted to Department of Neurosurgery, First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China from January 2020 to June 2023, were chosen. Aneurysm and parent artery occlusion or stent-assisted spring coil embolization were performed according to location of the aneurysms, degrees of aneurysm immediate embolization were evaluated by Raymond grading, and perioperative adverse events were recorded. The patients were followed up for 6-48 months, and aneurysm recurrence was determined according to DSA results; prognoses were assessed by modified Rankin Scale (mRS), with scores of 0-2 as good prognosis and scores of 3-6 as poor prognosis.Results:All 25 patients had unilateral ruptured IVADA, 10 (40%) received aneurysm and parent artery occlusion (occlusion of dissection segment) and 15 (60%) received stent-assisted embolization. Immediately after surgery, 19 patients (76%) had grading I embolization, 4 (16%) grading II embolization, and 2 (8%) grading III embolization. No aneurysm rupture or stent related thrombosis was observed during procedure; 3 patients (12%) died after procedure, with postoperative rebleeding in 1, postoperative cerebellar infarction with respiratory failure in 1, and severe pneumonia in 1. In the 22 survivals, 18 had good prognosis and 4 had poor prognosis. In the 5 relapsed patients (all accepted stent-assisted embolization), 4 underwent re-intervention, and one with visualization at aneurysm neck was relatively stable on re-examination and accepted regular follow up.Conclusion:Aneurysm and parent artery occlusion can be used for non-dominant vertebral artery aneurysms not involving posterior inferior cerebellar artery, whose recurrence rate is lower than that of stent-assisted coil embolization.

Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis is a vine species native to Brazil that is considered an unconventional food plant and a medicinal species whose phenolic compounds exert antioxidant activity. Since the production of metabolites is determined by environmental factors and leaf maturity, it is important to track these changes in order to determine the best time to harvest. This study aimed to verify whether leaf phenology and seasonality cause variations in the amount of phenolic compounds and in the antioxidant activity of this species. The leaves were collected in different seasons between September 2018 and April 2019, and separated according to maturity: young, mature, and senescent. Daily atmospheric temperature and rainfall data were used to characterize the collection period. The total phenolic content (TPC), determined by Folin-Ciocalteu method, was significantly higher in the young leaves collected in winter, a season of lower temperatures. These leaves showed 54.4 mg of gallic acid equivalents per 100 g of dry matter (mg GAE 100 g-1DM). Other results averaged 25.6 mg GAE 100 g-1DM. The highest antioxidant activity, assessed via the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method, regardless of leaf phenology, was observed in leaves harvested in autumn (73.7%) and winter (71.1%), seasons with lower rainfall. Leaves harvested in summer and spring had lower antioxidant action rates (54.3 e 37.5%, respectively). There was no significant correlation between the total phenolic content and antioxidant activity. Thus, the phenolic composition of A. cordifolia, and consequently its activity on free radicals, varies seasonally in response to temperature and rainfall, and may or may not interact with the age of the leaves.

RESUMEN
SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Inflammation plays a key role in the pathogenesis of postoperative atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. In this study, we aimed to investigate the changes in mean platelet volume and platelet values during the spring and autumn seasons in patients who underwent isolated coronary artery bypass graft surgery and the possible effect of these occurrences on postoperative atrial fibrillation. METHODS: Consecutive patients who underwent elective isolated coronary bypass surgery at our clinic in the spring and autumn months, between August 2020 and July 2022, were retrospectively included in this study. Variables were evaluated according to the spring and autumn seasons. Patients who did not develop in-hospital postoperative atrial fibrillation were identified as Group 1, and those who did constituted Group 2. RESULTS: A total of 622 patients were included in the study. The patients were divided into two groups: those who were operated on in the spring (n=277, median age=62 years, male gender ratio=77.3%) and those who were operated on in the autumn (n=345, median age=61 years, male gender ratio=81.4%). There was no statistically significant difference between the patients operated on in both seasons in terms of age, gender, hypertension rates, and the frequency of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In multivariate analysis, being over 70 years old (OR: 1.934, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.489-2.995, p<0.001), having a left ventricular ejection fraction below 30% (OR: 1.550, 95%CI 1.190-2.236, p=0.012), and having chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (OR: 1.663, 95%CI 1.339-2.191, p<0.001) were found to be independent predictors in predicting the development of postoperative atrial fibrillation. CONCLUSION: In this study, we first demonstrated that mean platelet volume and platelet mass index values were higher in patients in the autumn months. Additionally, for the first time in the literature, we showed that there is a significant relationship between platelet mass index value and the development of postoperative atrial fibrillation in patients who underwent isolated coronary artery bypass graft.

Como hemos visto, la Odontología ha evolucionado constantemente con el paso de los años, y por supuesto la Ortodoncia magníficamente desarrollada por el Dr. Angle y los brackets diseñados desde hace décadas no son la excepción, ya que han sufrido muchas modificaciones al día de la fecha. Hemos pasado por un sinnúmero de cambios, prescripciones, conceptos que nos brindan un amplio abanico de posibilidades, siempre en busca de lo mejor para nuestros pacientes y para nosotros, disminuyendo los tiempos de tratamiento y también el tiempo de sillón, que no es un tema menor. Este caso de revisión clínica confirma que podemos hacer ortodoncias eficientes y simples con excelentes resultados y en corto plazo.
As we have seen, dentistry has constantly evolved over the years, and of course orthodontics is no exception, from the braces designed in the 30s to date we have gone through a number of changes, prescriptions , concepts and modifications that offer us a wide range of possibilities, always looking for the best for our patients and for us, reducing chair times. This clinical review case confirms that we can do efficient and simple orthodontics with excellent results and in the short term.

Introducción: El embarazo en la adolescencia es un problema de salud pública en Perú; sin embargo, hay una cifra de adolescentes con vida sexual activa, sin protección anticonceptiva. Objetivo: Determinar los factores socioculturales, sexuales y reproductivos asociados al no uso de métodos anticonceptivos en adolescentes mujeres. Métodos: Investigación descriptiva, transversal; se aplicó un análisis de base secundaria de la Encuesta Demográfica y Salud Familiar realizada en Perú en 2019. La población estuvo conformada por 1 871 mujeres de 15 a 19 años y se excluyeron aquellas que no habían iniciado su vida sexual o con datos incompletos. Se utilizó prueba ji cuadrado de Pearson y regresión de Poisson para el análisis estadístico. Resultados: El 46,6 por ciento de adolescentes no utilizaron métodos anticonceptivos. Se asociaron al no uso de métodos anticonceptivos, factores socioculturales como edad de 15 a 17 años, nivel educativo superior, asistencia actual a institución educativa, razón para dejar de estudiar (p< 0,05); y factores sexuales y reproductivos como: no tener parejas sexuales actualmente, edad de la primera relación sexual entre 15 a 19 años, no tener hijos y no vivir con una pareja (p< 0,05). Según el análisis multivariado, tener 15 a 17 años aumenta la prevalencia de no usar métodos anticonceptivos (Rpa: 1,21 IC: 1,09-1,33). Sin embargo, tener parejas sexuales (Rpa: 0,48 IC: 0,44-0,52) e hijos (Rpa: 0,49 IC: 0,45-0,55) redujeron la prevalencia de no uso de anticonceptivos. Conclusiones: Los factores socioculturales, sexuales y reproductivos asociados al no uso de anticoncepción fueron la edad de 15 a 17 años, tener parejas sexuales e hijos(AU)
Introduction: Teenage pregnancy is a public health problem in Peru; however, there is a number of sexually active adolescents without contraceptive protection. Objective: To determine the sociocultural, sexual and reproductive factors associated with the non-use of contraceptive methods in female adolescents. Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional research; a secondary base analysis of the Demographic and Family Health Survey carried out in Peru, 2019 was applied. The population consisted of 1871 women between the ages of 15 to 19 years and those who had not started their sexual life or with incomplete data were excluded. Pearson's ji-square test and Poisson Regression were used for statistical analysis. Results: 46,6 percent of adolescents did not use contraceptive methods. Non-use of contraceptive methods was associated with sociocultural factors such as age between 15 to 17 years, higher educational level, current attendance at an educational institution, reason for leaving school (p< 0,05); and sexual and reproductive factors such as: not currently having sexual partners, age of first sexual intercourse between 15 and 19 years, not having children and not living with a partner (p< 0,05). According to the multivariate analysis, being 15 to 17 years old increases the prevalence of not using contraceptive methods (RPa: 1,21 CI: 1,09-1,33). However, having sexual partners (RPa: 0,48 CI: 0,44-0,52). However, having sexual partners (RPa: 0,48 CI: 0,44-0,52) and children (RPa: 0,49 CI: 0,45-0,55) reduced the prevalence of non-use of contraceptives. Objetivo: Evaluar los factores asociados al uso del anillo vaginal en mujeres venezolanas en edad reproductiva, con deseo de anticoncepción y con vida sexual activa. Métodos: Estudio observacional - descriptivo, multicéntrico. La muestra fue de tipo no probabilística, deliberada y de voluntarias. Se les proporcionó el anillo vaginal por tres ciclos y las consultas de seguimiento se realizaron al final del primer y tercer ciclo menstrual. Se evaluó la aceptabilidad, tolerabilidad, cumplimiento, control de ciclo menstrual y la presencia de efectos adversos. Resultados: Se incluyeron 140 mujeres, con edad promedio de 31,01 años ± 8,14. Los motivos de selección del anillo vaginal fueron: evita embarazo de manera efectiva (69,29 %), fácil de usar (68,57 %), uso mensual (65,71 %). El patrón de sangrado fue reportado como regular en 95 % de las mujeres en la segunda consulta y en 92,8 % en la tercera; 88,57 % reportó ausencia de sangrado intermenstrual. Hubo cumplimiento adecuado en 97,86 %; 96,43 % expresó que era fácil de usarlo y 92,86 % comodidad a nivel sexual. No hubo diferencias estadísticas significativas en el peso promedio en la segunda y tercera consulta (p > 0,05), ni en la tensión arterial sistólica y diastólica (p > 0,05). No hubo eventos adversos en 77 %, cuando los hubo, los más frecuentes fueron cefalea, náuseas y mastodinia; no hubo eventos adversos serios, ni embarazo. Conclusión: El anillo vaginal anticonceptivo es una opción bien tolerada con excelente aceptación, satisfacción sexual y general, segura, con escasos eventos adversos(AU)
Objective: To evaluate the factors associated with the use of the vaginal ring in Venezuelan women of reproductive age, with a desire for contraception and with an active sexual life. Methods: Observational - descriptive, multicenter study. The sample was non-probabilistic, deliberate and voluntary. The vaginal ring was provided for three cycles and follow-up visits were made at the end of the first and third menstrual cycles. Acceptability, tolerability, compliance, menstrual cycle control, and the presence of adverse effects were evaluated. Results: A total of 140 women were included, whose mean age was 31.01 ± 8.14 years. The reasons for selecting the vaginal ring were: effectively prevents pregnancy (69.29 %), easy to use (68.57 %), method of monthly use (65.71 %). The bleeding pattern was reported as regular in 95% of the women in the second consultation and in 92.8% in the third; 88.57% reported absence of intermenstrual bleeding. There was adequate compliance in 97.86%; 96.43% expressed that it was easy to use and 92.86% comfortable at a sexual level. There were no statistically significant differences in the average weight at the second and third consultation (p > 0.05), nor in systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p > 0.05). There were no adverse events in 77%, when there were, the most frequent were headache, nausea and mastodynia; there were no serious adverse events or pregnancy. Conclusion: The contraceptive vaginal ring is a well-tolerated option with excellent acceptance, sexual and general satisfaction, safe, with few adverse events(AU)

Introdução: Os acidentes por lepidópteros são agravos de interesse à saúde pública e a avaliação de suas características pode contribuir para melhorar sua assistência e prevenção. Este estudo analisou o perfil epidemiológico dos acidentes por lagartas do gênero Lonomia no Paraná. Métodos: Trata-se de estudo retrospectivo de base secundária realizado no Centro de Informação e Assistência Toxicológica do Paraná (CIATox/PR), em Curitiba, no período de 2015 a 2019. A análise foi realizada por estatística descritiva e Teste do qui-quadrado (p<0,05). Resultados: A amostra foi composta de 84 acidentes por Lonomia sp. com predomínio em adultos (45,2%), do sexo masculino (59,5%), e de lesões em membros superiores (84,5%). O contato com as lagartas ocorreram na área peridomiciliar da residência habitual do paciente (72,6%), na zona rural (64,27%) da macrorregião oeste paranaense (38,1%). O verão concentrou 71,4% dos casos, seguido por primavera e outono com 14,3% dos casos, respectivamente, sem registros no inverno. As manifestações clínicas mais frequentes foram dor local (62,4%), equimose (34,1%), eritema (34,1%), edema e queimação (17,6% cada). A classificação leve mostrou uma redução entre a fase inicial e a final do processo, ao contrário da moderada e grave, que tiveram aumento significativo de casos (p=0,006). O RNI (Relação Normatizada Internacional) foi incoagulável em 16,7% dos pacientes. Dois casos apresentaram piora do quadro clínico, sendo uma evolução para acidente vascular cerebral hemorrágico e um óbito. Discussão: Maior número de casos registrados na zona rural, tanto na residência habitual ou ambiente laboral, se dá pelo maior contato com o habitat das lagartas como árvores frutíferas e grandes monoculturas, o que também explica o fato de a macrorregião oeste ter o maior número de casos registrados. O aumento do desmatamento, incentivos à construção de parques públicos e plantio de árvores frutíferas na zona urbana são hipóteses para o aumento de casos nessa área. Percebeu-se que manifestações clínicas discretas podem ter uma evolução desfavorável, quando comparado estadiamento inicial e final. A realização do RNI se mostrou de grande importância na mudança de estadiamento, conduta terapêutica e diagnóstico. Conclusão: O perfil encontrado foi de acidentes por Lonomia sp. com sazonalidade no verão, em homens adultos da zona rural com gravidade moderada. Esses achados revelam a importância do diagnóstico e tratamento precoce frente às diferentes possibilidades de evolução clínica desses acidentes. É fundamental estimular estratégias para identificação da lagarta, notificação dos casos e medidas preventivas permanentes para reduzir riscos e agravos (AU).
Introduction: Lonomic accidents are of public health interest and the evaluation of their characteristics can contribute to the improvement of their attention and prevention. This study analyzed the epidemiological profile of Lonomic accidents in Paraná. Methods: This study is a retrospective secondary-based study carried out at the Center of Toxicologic Information and Assistance of Paraná (CIATox/PR), in Curitiba, from 2015 to 2019. Descriptive statistical analyses were performed using the Chi-square test (p<0.05). Results: The sample consisted of 84 accidents with Lonomia sp., showing greater occurrences among adults (45.2%) of the male gender (59.5%) and injuries on the upper limbs (84.5%). Contact with the worm occurred mainly in the patient's usual residence (72.6%), in the rural area (64.27%), and in Paraná's West macro-region (38.1%). Most cases were registered in the summer (71.4%), followed by spring and autumn (14.3%), and no accidents were registered in winter. The most frequent clinical manifestations were local pain (62.3%), ecchymosis (34.1%), erythema (34.1%), swelling and burning (17.6% each). The mild classification showed a reduction between the initial and the final phase of the process, as opposed to moderate and severe classifications, which showed a significant increase in the percentage (p=0,006). The INR was incoagulable in 16.7% of patients. Two cases showed progressive worsening, one of them evolved into a hemorrhagic stroke and one death. Discussion: The greater number of incidents registered in the rural area, both in the patients' usual residence and work environment, can be due to the greater contact with the caterpillar's natural habits, such as fruit trees and large monocultures. This also explains the larger number of registered incidents in the western macro-region. The increased deforestation, the construction of public parks, and the planting of fruit trees in the urban area are hypotheses for the increase of reported cases in this area. When comparing initial and final staging, it was noticed that discrete clinical manifestations could have an unfavorable evolution. The INR request proved to be of great importance in the management, diagnosis and change of staging of the patient. Conclusion:The epidemiological profile was of Lonomia sp. accidents happening in summer in adult males in the rural area with moderate severity. These findings reveal the importance of early diagnosis and treatment in view of these accidents' different possibilities of clinical evolution. It is essential to encourage strategies for identifying the caterpillar, reporting cases, and implementing permanent preventive measures to reduce risks and complications (AU).

Objective@#To analyze the total fluids intake and sources of college students from Hebei in spring and summer, and to provide a scientific reference for appropriate fluids intake in different seasons.@*Methods@#Subjects were recruited in a university in Baoding, Hebei Province, and investigations were conducted in April and June 2021. The number of people who completed both spring and summer investigations was 80. Quantitative instruments and 7 day 24 h Fluid Intake Questionnaire were used to investigate the total drinking fluids, and it was recorded for 7 consecutive days in spring and summer respectively. The duplicate portion method was used to investigate the water from food. The total fluids intake and sources among subjects were analyzed in spring and summer.@*Results@#There was no statistical significance between the total drinking fluids and total fluids intake between spring and summer [1 141(715), 1 176(649)mL/d, (2 496±604)(2 458±554)mL/d] ( F=1.86, 0.59, P >0.05). Spring showed significantly higher water from food compared with summer [(1 318±274)(1 217±302)mL/d]( F=16.63, P <0.05). The proportions of total drinking fluids and water from food in spring were 46% and 54%, respectively, and both were 50% in summer, the differences were statistically significant ( F=12.97, 12.97, P <0.05). There were differences in total fluids intake,total drinking fluids and water from food of different genders in earch season ( t/Z =4.75, -3.63, 3.44; 4.80, -2.91, 4.01, P <0.05). There were differences in total water intake, total drinking fluids, the proportions of total drinking fluids and water from food of different BMI groups in each season ( F/H =8.08, 16.65, 3.03, 3.03; 7.11,17.97, 4.52, 4.52, P <0.05). In spring, only 13.8% of subjects achieved the recommended total drinking fluids of China, compared with 18.8% in summer. In spring and summer, the total fluids intake, total drinking fluids, the proportions of total drinking fluids in the group achieved the recommendation were all higher than those who did not reach the recommendation ( t/Z =6.64, -5.19, 5.79; 8.12, -5.97, 5.70, P <0.05).@*Conclusion@#Season is a factor that affects total fluids intake, and it should be taken into account when setting the recommendation on adequate water intake.

PURPOSE@#This prospective clinical study was conducted to evaluate the clinical usefulness of the freely detachable zirconia ball- and spring-retained implant prosthesis (BSRP) through a comparative analysis of screw- and cement-retained implant prosthesis (SCRP). @*MATERIALS AND METHODS@#A multi-center, randomized, prospective clinical study evaluating the clinical usefulness of the detachable zirconia ball- and spring-retained implant prostheses was conducted. Sixty-four implant prostheses in 64 patients were examined. Periodic observational studies were conducted at 0, 3, 6, and 12 months after delivery of the implant prosthesis. Factors such as implant success rate, marginal bone resorption, periodontal pocket depth, plaque and bleeding index, and prosthetic complications were evaluated, respectively. @*RESULTS@#During the 1-year observation period, all implants survived without functional problems and clinical mobility, showing a 100% implant success rate. Marginal bone resorption was significantly higher in the SCRP group than in the BSRP group only at the time of implant prosthesis delivery (P = .043). In all observation periods, periodontal pocket depth was slightly higher in the BSRP group than in the SCRP group, but there was no significant difference (P > .05). The modified plaque index (mPI) scores of both groups were moderate. Higher ratio of a score 2 in modified sulcus bleeding index (mBI) was observed in the BSRP group in the 6- and 12-months observation. @*CONCLUSION@#Within the limitations of this study, the newly developed zirconia ball- and spring-retained implant prosthesis could be considered as an applicable and predictable treatment method along with the existing screw- and cement-retained prosthesis.

As a single-center retrospective study, we analyzed the results of rotavirus and human adenovirus antigens in stool samples with colloidal gold immunochromatography method in children with acute gastroenteritis under the age of five who were treated in our hospital from 2019 to 2022. After excluding nonconforming cases and duplicate cases, 2 896 cases were included, of which 559 cases were detected with at least one viral antigen. According to the test results, they were divided into RV positive group, HAdV positive group and RV & HAdV double positive group. The gender, age, seasonal distribution, clinical symptoms and related laboratory tests were compared and analyzed with χ2 test, analysis of variance and nonparametric test. Among the single samples from 2 896 children, the positive rate of RV antigen was 6.21% (180/2 896), the positive rate of HAdV antigen was 10.91% (316/2 896), and the double positive rate of RV & HAdV was 2.18% (63/2 896). The positive rate of HAdV antigen in 2021 was 16.11%, a significant increase compared with 6.20% in 2020. RV infection has obvious seasonality, and spring and winter are the seasons with high incidence of infection (χ2=74.018, P<0.001), while HAdV infection has no obvious seasonality (χ2=2.110, P=0.550), showing sporadic infection throughout the year. The proportions of fever and vomiting symptoms in children with RV infection were significantly higher than those in the HAdV infection group (χ2=40.401, P<0.001; χ2=32.593, P<0.001), but the positive rate of white blood cells in the stool was significantly lower than that in the HAdV infection group (χ2=13.741,P<0.01). In summary, paying attention to the epidemiological changes of RV and HAdV is of great significance for clinical diagnosis and treatment and disease prevention and control.

Objective: To understand the infection status of Enterovirus (EV) in cases of acute respiratory infections (ARIs) in Luohe City, Henan Province from 2017 to 2021, and analyze the prevalence and type composition of EV in ARIs. Methods: From October 2017 to May 2021, pharyngeal swab samples were collected from 1 828 patients with ARIs in Luohe Central Hospital and the clinical epidemiological data of these cases were also collected. EV-positive samples were identified by Quantitative Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR). The 5'-untranslated region (5'UTR) was amplified by Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). The results of 5'UTR region were initially typed by Enterovirus Genotyping Tool Version 1.0. Based on the typing results, the full-length of VP1 region was amplified by RT-PCR. The EV typing was identified again by VP1 region. Results: Among 1 828 cases of ARIs, 56.7% (1 036) were males. The median (Q1, Q3) age was about 3 (1, 5) years. Patients under 5 years old accounted for 71.6% (1 309 cases). Among all cases, a total of 71 EV-positive samples were identified by qPCR, with a detection rate of 3.88% (71/1 828). The EV detection rates for men and women were 3.28% (34/1 036) and 4.67% (37/792), without statistically significant differences (χ2=2.32, P=0.14). The EV detection rates for 2 to <6 years, 6 months to <2 years, 6 to <10 years, and <6 months were 6.29% (48/763), 3.00% (18/600), 2.52% (4/159), and 1.67% (1/60) (χ2=27.91, P<0.001). The EV detection rate was 0.92% (3/326) in autumn and winter of 2017. The EV detection rates were 1.18% (6/508), 2.47% (12/485) and 8.31% (34/409) in each year from 2018 to 2020, with an increasing trend year by year(χ2trend=29.76, P<0.001). The main prevalent seasons were summer and autumn. The detection rate in spring of 2021 was 4.00% (4/100). A total of 12 types were identified and classified as CVA2, CVA4, CVA5, CVA6, CVA10, CVB3, CVB5, E5, E11, E30, PV-1, and EV-D68. The types of CVA2, CVA10, CVA6, and CVB3 were the dominant phenotypes. In 59 sample of EV typing, the main clinical manifestation was upper respiratory tract infection (36/59, 61.01%). The dominant types detected in upper respiratory tract infections were CVA10 (10/36, 27.78%), CVA6 (9/36, 25.00%) and CVB3 (8/36, 22.22%). The dominant type detected in lower respiratory tract infections was CVA2 (7/19, 36.84%). Conclusion: In Luohe City, Henan Province from 2017 to 2021, EV infection in ARIs cases has clear seasonal and age-specific patterns, and the dominant types of upper and lower respiratory tract infections are different.

The flavonoids in Panax notoginseng were qualitatively analyzed by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF-MS), and the content of three main flavonoids in P. notoginseng of different specifications and grades collected from different habitats was determined by HPLC-DAD. Flavonoids and anthocyanins were analyzed by UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS in the positive and negative ion modes, respectively. Twelve flavonoid glycosides and one anthocyanin glycoside in P. notoginseng were identified, but no flavonoid aglycones were detected. Among them, 12 compounds were identified in the underground part of P. notoginseng for the first time and eight compounds were first reported in this plant. Moreover, six and four compounds were identified in the Panax genus and the Araliaceae family for the first time, respectively. A method for simultaneous determination of three flavonoids in P. notoginseng was established by HPLC-DAD. The content of flavonoids in 721 P. notoginseng samples of 124 specifications and grades collected from 20 different habitats was simultaneously determined. Among three flavonoids determined, the content of quercetin-3-O-(2″-β-D-xylosyl)-β-D-galactoside was the highest with the average content in the tested samples of 161.0 μg·g~(-1). The content of compounds quercetin-3-O-hexosyl-hexoside and kaempferol-3-O-pentosyl-hexoside was relatively low, with the average content of 18.5 μg·g~(-1)(calculated as quercetin-3-O-sophoroside) and 49.4 μg·g~(-1)(calculated as kaempferol-3-O-sangbu diglycoside). There were significant differences in flavonoids content of samples from different production area. The content of flavonoids in spring P. notoginseng was significantly lower than that in winter P. notoginseng when the other influencing factors such as production areas, germplasm resources, and cultivation conditions were fixed. As for P. notoginseng of different specifications, the flavonoid content in the part connecting the taproot and the aboveground stem was significantly higher than that in other parts. The results of large-scale data showed that the flavonoid content gradually increased with the increase in the number of heads. There were significant differences between the flavonoid content in most specifications and grades, especially the 20-head P. notoginseng and countless head P. notoginseng, whose content was significantly lower and significantly higher than that of other specifications and grades, respectively. This study provides a scientific basis for the study of the effective components and quality control of P. notoginseng from the perspective of flavonoids.

OBJECTIVES@#To investigate the distribution characteristics of non-bacterial pathogens in community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in children.@*METHODS@#A total of 1 788 CAP children admitted to Shenyang Children's Hospital from December 2021 to November 2022 were selected. Multiple RT-PCR and capillary electrophoresis were used to detect 10 viral pathogens and 2 atypical pathogens, and serum antibodies of Chlamydial pneumoniae (Ch) and Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) were detected. The distribution characteristics of different pathogens were analyzed.@*RESULTS@#Among the 1 788 CAP children, 1 295 children were pathogen-positive, with a positive rate of 72.43% (1 295/1 788), including a viral pathogen positive rate of 59.68% (1 067/1 788) and an atypical pathogen positive rate of 22.04% (394/1 788). The positive rates from high to low were MP, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza B virus (IVB), human metapneumovirus (HMPV), human rhinovirus (HRV), human parainfluenza virus (HPIV), influenza A virus (IVA), bocavirus (BoV), human adenovirus (HADV), Ch, and human coronavirus (HCOV). RSV and MP were the main pathogens in spring; MP had the highest positive rate in summer, followed by IVA; HMPV had the highest positive rate in autumn; IVB and RSV were the main pathogens in winter. The positive rate of MP in girls was higher than that in boys (P<0.05), and there were no significant differences in other pathogens between genders (P>0.05). The positivity rates of certain pathogens differed among age groups (P<0.05): the positivity rate of MP was highest in the >6 year-old group; the positivity rates of RSV and Ch were highest in the <1 year-old group; the positivity rates of HPIV and IVB were highest in the 1 to <3 year-old group. RSV, MP, HRV, and HMPV were the main pathogens in children with severe pneumonia, while MP was the primary pathogen in children with lobar pneumonia, and MP, IVB, HMPV, RSV, and HRV were the top 5 pathogens in acute bronchopneumonia.@*CONCLUSIONS@#MP, RSV, IVB, HMPV, and HRV are the main pathogens of CAP in children, and there are certain differences in the positive rates of respiratory pathogens among children of different ages, genders, and seasons.

Objective To study the efficacy and safety of bronchial artery embolization(BAE)with tris-acryl gelatin microspheres(TAGM)combined with platinum spring coil with fiber(microcoils)in the treatment of acute severe hemoptysis caused by bronchiectasis.Methods A retrospective analysis of 48 patients with bronchiectasis was performed.After the lesion vessels were confirmed by angiography,the distal capillary bed was embolized with TAGM(300-500 μm),the middle blood flow was embolized with microcoils according to the diameter of the small artery,and then the proximal vessels were embolized with TAGM(500-700 μm)again.In patients with pulmonary artery/vein fistula,appropriate TAGM(500-700 μm)was selected according to the size of the fistula and the blood flow velocity,followed by dense embolization with multiple microcoils.The complete occlusion of the lesion vessel was confirmed again by arteriography after embolization.Results The overall success rate of operation was 95.83%.There were 36 patients with immediately stopped bleeding,6 cases with effective treatment,4 cases with improved treatment,1 case with invalid treatment due to the leakage of the responsible blood vessel,which was improved after the second embolization.There was 1 case died in surgery due to sudden massive hemoptysis,choking and suffocation.During the 3-51 months follow-up,1 patient died due to sudden massive hemoptysis;4 patients had recurrent hemoptysis due to poor control of infection and collateral circulation,which were controlled after reemboliza-tion,and 1 patient with bronchiectasis and pulmonary tuberculosis had repeated hemoptysis caused by multiple pulmonary lesions and severe pulmonary infection,performing on four times embolization.There was no patient with recurrent hemoptysis occurring recanalization of primary embolized vessel.During the follow-up,the overall survival rate was 97.87%,and the hemoptysis control rate was 87.23%.Conclusion TAGM combined with microcoils is safe and effective in the treatment of acute massive hemoptysis,which has good short-term effect and long-term prognosis.

Objective To observe the value of micro flow imaging(MFI)for diagnosing closed liver trauma in pigs.Methods A self-made impactor was used to impact the liver of 15 healthy pigs under general anesthesia and establish pig models of closed liver trauma.Conventional ultrasound,MFI and contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS)were used to observe the location,extent and degree of liver trauma.Afterwards,the pigs were executed and the livers were removed,and the liver lesions were observed.According gross pathological findings,the diagnostic efficacy of MFI was analyzed.Results Gross pathology showed a total of 29 liver traumas in 15 pigs.The accuracy rate of conventional ultrasound,MFI and CEUS for diagnosing liver trauma in pigs was 37.93%(11/29),82.76%(24/29)and 96.55%(28/29),respectively.Significant difference was found between conventional ultrasound and MFI,also between conventional ultrasound and CEUS(both P<0.05),but not between MFI and CEUS(P>0.05).MFI showed no obvious blood flow signal in more than half pig liver trauma sites,while showed"spring like"in 1 pig and scattered blood flow signals in 5 pigs.On CEUS,liver trauma sites in pigs present as low or no perfusion,while"jet like"contrast agent overflow from the liver was noticed in 1 pig and"spring like"contrast agent overflow in 5 pigs,forming liquid dark areas around the liver or in abdominal cavity.Conclusion MFI had certain value for diagnosing closed liver trauma in pigs,hence being comparable to CEUS.
