RESUMEN

Objective:To assess the levels of self-compassion, psychological resilience, and academic adjustment of undergraduate students in a military medical university, and analyze their influencing factors and interactions.Methods:A total of 341 undergraduate students were selected by convenience and purposive sampling in a military medical university from April to May, 2022 for surveys with the General Information Questionnaire, the Chinese version of the Self-Compassion Scale, the Chinese version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the Academic Adjustment Scale for College Students. The collected data were analyzed through univariable analysis and multiple linear regression analysis to determine the influencing factors. AMOS 23.0 was used for path analysis.Results:The scores of self-compassion, psychological resilience, and academic adjustment of the students were at slightly high levels, with a significant positive correlation between one and another ( r s=0.580-0.611, all P<0.001). The influencing factors included professional identity, the level of received support, grade, time spent in student clubs, and the plan of postgraduate study (all P<0.05). The standardized direct effect of self-compassion on academic adjustment was 0.285 ( P=0.001), and the sum of the standardized mediating effects of psychological resilience and professional identity on self-compassion and academic adjustment was 0.314 ( P=0.001). The total mediating effect accounted for 52.42% of the total effect. Conclusions:The levels of self-compassion, psychological resilience, and academic adjustment of undergraduate students in the military medical university are influenced by multiple factors. Relevant departments should pay attention to specific populations and take targeted measures to increase the students' self-compassion, psychological resilience, and academic adjustment.

Escala de Satisfação com a Escolha do Curso (ESEC) para uso no contexto brasileiro. Participaram deste estudo 674 estudantes universitários, com idade variando entre 18 e 62 anos (M= 23,18, DP= 5,81). Seis modelos fatoriais unidimensionais foram testados com o objetivo de identificar a solução mais parcimoniosa para o instrumento. Sugere-se uma solução final com quatro itens, ao invés de seis. Análises de TRI foram realizadas e observou-se alta fidedignidade da escala para mensuração de baixos níveis do traço latente. A ESEC esteve significativamente correlacionada com os cinco fatores de personalidade, adaptabilidade de carreira e satisfação com a vida. Indica-se que a ESEC apresenta evidências de validade favoráveis ao seu uso no contexto brasileiro, mas o instrumento identifica melhor indivíduos insatisfeitos com a escolha do curso do que os satisfeitos. This study aimed to adapt and obtain validity evidence for the Academic Major Satisfaction Scale (AMSS) in the Brazilian context. The instrument was tested in 674 college students, with ages ranging from 18 to 62 (M = 23.18, SD = 5.81). Six unidimensional models were tested in order to find the parsimonious solution to the instrument. A four-item final solution is suggested, instead of the original 6-item solution. IRT was applied and it was identified that the AMSS had high reliability in individuals with low levels of latent trait. AMSS was significantly correlated with the big-five personality factors, career adapt-ability and life satisfaction. AMSS presents favorable evidences of validity to the Brazilian context, although the scale is more efficient in identifying students who are unsatisfied rather than satisfied with their college major. Este estudio buscó adaptar y obtener evidencia de la validez de la Escala de Satisfacción de Elección de Curso (ESEC) para su uso en el contexto brasileño. Participaron un total de 674 estudiantes universitarios, con edades comprendidas entre los 18 y los 62 años (M = 23,18, DT = 5,81). Se probaron seis modelos factoriales unidimensionales con el fin de identificar la solución más parsimoniosa para el instrumento. Se sugiere una solución final con cuatro elementos en lugar de seis. El modelo de respuesta graduada se aplicó a los ítems que funcionaron bien a niveles bajos del constructo. La ESEC se correlacionó significativamente con los cinco factores de personalidad, adaptabilidad profesional y satisfacción con la vida. Se indica que la ESEC presenta evidencia de validez favorable a su uso en el contexto brasileño, pero el instrumento identifica mejor a los insatisfechos con la elección del curso que a los satisfechos. O objetivo deste estudo foi explorar as associações entre vivências acadêmicas e empregabilidade em universitários do último ano de graduação e analisar se há diferenças nessas variáveis entre os cursos participantes, Psicologia e Administração. Participaram 60 estudantes do último ano de graduação de uma universidade particular do interior paulista, sendo 76,6% do sexo feminino, com média de idade de 26,7 anos (DP=5,0). Para a coleta de dados foram utilizados o Questionário de Vivências Acadêmicas Reduzido (QVA-r) e a Escala de Empregabilidade. Os resultados mostraram que não houve diferença significativa entre os cursos em nenhuma das variáveis. Quanto à associação entre vivências acadêmicas e empregabilidade, todos os fatores do QVA-r apresentaram correlações significativas com alguma dimensão da Escala de Empregabilidade, destacando-se a dimensão Interpessoal que se associou a todas as dimensões de empregabilidade. Considera-se que a integração acadêmica do estudante está associada à capacidade de tornar-se empregável. Portanto, tanto os estudantes quanto os gestores devem ficar atentos às oportunidades que podem contribuir para desenvolvimento das competências de empregabilidade, sem se restringirem à grade curricular tradicional.


The aim of this study was to explore the associations between academic experiences and employability in senior college students and verifiy if there is any difference in these variabels between Psychology and Business Manageament students. The participants were 60 students in their final year of undergraduate courses from a private university in São Paulo, Brazil, being 76.6% female, with a mean age of 26.7 years (SD = 5.0). For data collection we used Questionário de Vivências Acadêmicas Reduzido(QVA-r) and Escala de Empregabilidade. The results have shown no significant difference between the courses in any of the variables. Regarding the association between academic experiences and employability, all factors QVA-r showed significant correlations with some dimension of Escala de Empregabilidade, highlighting the interpersonal dimension which partnered with all dimensions of employability. It is considered that the academic integration of the student is associated with the ability to become employable. Therefore, both the students and managers should be alert to opportunities that may contribute to the development of employability skills, without if they restrict to the traditional curriculum.


El objetivo del estudio fue investigar las asociaciones entre vivencias académicas y empleabilidad en universitarios del último año de grado, y analizar si hay diferencias en esas variables en función de los cursos -psicología y administración de empresas- escogidos por los participantes. Participaron 60 estudiantes del último año de grado de una universidad privada del interior paulista, siendo 76,6% mujeres, con una media de 26,7 años (SD=5.0). Para la recolección de datos fueron utilizados e lQuestionário de Vivências Acadêmicas Reduzido (QVA-r) y la Escala de Empregabilidade. Los resultados mostraron que no hubo diferencia significativa entre los cursos, en ninguna de las variables estudiadas. Sobre la asociación entre vivencias académicas y empleabilidad, todos los factores del QVA-r presentaron correlaciones significativas con alguna dimensión de la Escala de Empregabilidade, destacándose la dimensión Interpersonal, que se asoc ió a todas las dimensiones de empleabilidad. Se considera que la integración académica del estudiante está asociada a la capacidad de tornarse empleado s. Por lo tanto, los estudiantes y los administradores deben estar atentos a las oportunidades que pueden contribuir para el desarrollo de las competencias de empleabilidad, sin restringirse al curriculum tradicional.

Analisa-se a relação entre os processos de exploração vocacional, adaptação acadêmica e personalidade para identificar perfis de carreira. Participaram 115 estudantes, 72 mulheres e 43 homens, frequentando o 1º ciclo do ensino superior português. Aplicaram-se o Career Exploration Survey, o Academic Adjustment Questionnaire e The Revised NEO Personality Inventory, tendo sido identificados dois perfis distintos de atuação e vivência da carreira. O perfil conformista apresenta níveis negativos nas crenças, comportamentos e reações de exploração, bem como em todas as dimensões do ajustamento académico, e os fatores de Extroversão, Neuroticismo, Abertura à experiência e Amabilidade positivos. This paper analyzes the relationship between the career exploration processes, academic adjustment, and personality, in order to identify career profiles. Participated 115 students, 72 women and 43 men, attending the 1st cycle of the Portuguese higher education. Were applied the Career Exploration Survey, the Academic Adjustment Questionnaire and The Revised NEO Personality Inventory, and two different career activity and experience profiles were identified. The conformist profile shows negative levels beliefs, behaviors and reactions to career exploration, as well as, in all dimensions of academic adjustment, with positive results in Extraversion, Neuroticism, Agreeableness and Openness to experience. Este estudio analiza la relación entre los procesos de exploración de carreras, el ajuste académico y la personalidad, para identificar perfiles de carrera. RESUMEN

PURPOSE: This study investigated the relationship among types of attribution tendencies, academic stress, coping efficacy, and academic adjustment in medical students and identified the means by which the academic adjustment of medical students can improve. METHODS: Four hundred forty-two subjects from 2 medical schools in Korea were analyzed; 202 were male, 206 were female, and 34 did not identify their gender. We surveyed their academic adjustment, attribution tendencies, academic stress, and coping efficacy. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. RESULTS: The male group scored higher on academic adjustment, internal attribution tendency, and coping efficacy but lower on academic stress than the female group. Coping efficacy and internal attribution tendency affected the academic adjustment positively while academic stress influenced it negatively. CONCLUSION: The study indicates that students with higher scores on coping efficacy and internal attribution tendency and who have lower scores on academic stress tend to adjust better academically in medical school. Therefore, these findings may be helpful for medical schools in designing effective academic adjustment programs to improve coping efficacy and internal attribution tendency and reduce academic stress. Further, these findings have important implications for planning learning consultation programs, especially in Year 1.
