RESUMEN
En este artículo se revisan aspectos generales sobre la ausencia congénita de dientes y los diversos factores asociados a dicha anomalia. Se resalta la importancia de la herencia en la oligodoncia y la asociación a problemas sistémicos. Se presenta además el caso de una paciente de la Clínica Integral Infantil del Departamento de Estomatología de la Universidad del Valle, con ausencia del gérmen temporal y permanente de un incisivo central superior, su manejo clínico y el curso del tratamiento hasta el momento.
This article reviews the literature about con genital absence of teeth and its possible causes associated with problems or sistemic sindroms, emphasizing on the inherence patterns involved in the anomaly, with this it pretends to cause diagnostic acumen to recognize the dental anomaly relating its presence with systemic syndroms and evaluating other members of the family to discard the inheritan patterns. In addition it presents a clinical case of a pacient attended the pediatric dental clinic of the Estomatology Department Universidad del Valle (Cali-Colombia), with absence of temporal and permanent buds of the superior central incisive, its clinical management and the treatment courses.
