RESUMEN

Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory facial dermatosis commonly found in fair skin tone population. Recent studies have shown the increasing prevalence in the dark skin tone population as well. Ocular involvement is very common and can occur without cutaneous features. Common ocular features are chronic blepharoconjunctivitis with eyelid margin inflammation and meibomian gland dysfunction. Corneal complications include corneal vascularization, ulceration, scarring, and rarely, perforation. Diagnosis is largely based on clinical signs, although it is often delayed in the absence of cutaneous changes, particularly in children. The management ranges from local therapy to systemic treatment, depending on the severity of the disease. There is a positive association between demodicosis and rosacea; however, causality is always argued. In this review, we describe the epidemiology, clinical features, and treatment of rosacea and ocular rosacea.

RESUMEN

Blepharokeratoconjunctivitis (BKC) is a chronic inflammatory disorder and can be defined as lid margin blepharitis accompanied by conjunctivitis and keratopathy.Typical clinical characteristics of BKC consisted of conjunctival hyperemia, papillary hyperplasia follicles, punctate keratitis, marginal keratitis, corneal punctuate epithelial erosion, corneal ulcer, corneal scar and vascularization, corneal perforation. The clinical symptoms and signs of BKC are complicated, which can lead to misdiagnose. The physiotherapy of BKC includes eyelid hygiene, meibomian glands massage and warm compresses;the drug treatment of BKC includes artificial tear, topical antibiotics, corticosteroids, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs),immunosuppressants and so on.Corneal transplantation is required for the severe BKC patients. The etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of BKC was reviewed in this artcle.

RESUMEN

· Blepharokeratoconjunctivitis (BKC) refers to a group of inflammatory lesions secondary to chronic blepharitis in cornea and (or) conjunctiva,is very common in clinic. At the same time, this kind of disease is easily misdiagnosed and missed diagnosed, which causing the management of patient were delayed. The characteristic of BKC is that the patient's condition is prolonged unhealed and unreasonable treatment can result in irreversible damage to the visual function of the patient. In recent years, with the public's understanding of ocular surface diseases has deepened, they also emphasized the influence of BKC to eye health.Although a large number of clinical studies have been carried out on the diagnosis and treatment of BKC,at present there is no unified standard of diagnosis and treatment for it.Consulting the relevant literature and combined with current research status, the diagnosis and treatment of BKC are reviewed in this paper.
