RESUMEN

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the refractory malignant tumors of the digestive system worldwide. With limitations, the available clinical therapies are usually suspended or show unsatisfactory effect. Therefore, it is urgent to find and develop new candidate drugs specifically targeting the cancer with ideal efficacy, low toxicity, and low cost, and the solutions can be found in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) which has a long history. In TCM, sovereign, ministry, assistant, and guiding medicinals are selected based on the syndrome differentiation, and it has shown remarkable efficacy on CRC in recent years. In particular, Chinese medicinal compounds and monomers from Chinese medicinals which have been applied in clinical settings are advantageous in the treatment of CRCs, as they improve the quality of life, alleviate clinical symptoms and toxic and side effects of chemotherapy, and prolong the survival of patients. Therefore, we retrieved the English and Chinese articles with "CRC", "TCM", "compound" and "monomer" as keywords, and summarized the progress in the treatment of CRC with Chinese medicinal compounds and monomers from Chinese medicinals from four aspects of "replenishing Qi and invigorating spleen", "clearing heat and removing toxin", "nourishing liver and kidney", and "tonifying Qi and nourishing blood". However, Chinese medicine features multiple components, multiple targets, and multiple pathways, and in-depth research should be carried out on the application of Chinese medicinal compounds and monomers from Chinese medicinals in the treatment of CRC, in an attempt to minimize the pain and side effects and maximize the therapeutic effect. This study is expected to provide new insight into the treatment of CRC and a reference for further research on the efficacy and mechanism of Chinese medicine.

RESUMEN

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common chronic degenerative neurological disease in the elderly and is mainly manifested by the impairment of cognition, memory, and behaviors. At present, the etiology and pathogenesis of this disease have not been fully unraveled, and the research on related drugs for alleviating the disease progression is still in clinical trials. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) believes that the elderly have reduced visceral function. Deficiency of vital Qi and turbid phlegm obscuring orifices are the core pathogenesis of AD. Qi deficiency and phlegm obstruction run through the whole pathological process of AD, and the important role of therapeutic principles of supplementing Qi and resolving phlegm is emphasized in treatment. In recent years, the Chinese medicinal compounds effective in supplementing Qi and resolving phlegm represented by Kaixin Powder have been widely used in the clinical and basic research of AD. As reported, in addition to the improvement of the cognitive function of AD, it can also reduce β amyloid (Aβ) deposition, inhibit tau hyperphosphorylation, improve neurotransmitter activity, regulate neuronal synaptic plasticity, resist oxidant stress injury, and inhibit the central inflammatory response and neuronal apoptosis. Therefore, this article reviewed and analyzed the theoretical basis of the treatment of AD by supplementing Qi and resolving phlegm and the mechanism of Chinese medicinal compounds effective in supplementing qi and resolving phlegm against AD to provide theoretical support and a scientific basis for the clinical application of TCM in the prevention and treatment of AD.

Objective:Based on the Ancient and Modern Medical Record Cloud Platform, we aimed to analyze the rules of TCM compound patents for the treatment of acute pancreatitis. Methods:Compound patents for acute pancreatitis were retrieved from the National Patent Database. After the steps of data screening, data entry, and data specification, a database of compound patents treated for acute pancreatitis was established. The frequency analysis, attribute analysis, association analysis, cluster analysis, and complex network analysis were performed by using the Ancient and modern medical record cloud platform. Results:A total of 87 compound patents were obtained, comprising 213 herbs, of which the core drugs were Rhei radix et rhizoma, Bupleuri radix, Aurantii fructus immaturus, Glycyrrhizae radix et rhizoma, Magnoliae officinalis cortex, Corydalis rhizoma, Scutellariae radix, Aucklandiae radix, Natrii sulfas, Coptidis rhizoma. The drugs were mainly warm, cold and slightly cold, and the drugs taste mostly bitter and spicy, and the drugs mainly belonged to the spleen meridian and liver meridian. The cluster analysis results contained 5 categories. The associations of drugs included Bupleuri radix - Rhei radix et rhizoma, Aurantii fructus immaturus - Rhei radix et rhizoma, Magnoliae officinalis cortex - Rhei radix et rhizoma, for which complex network analysis yielded a core composition of Rhei radix et rhizoma, Bupleuri radix, Glycyrrhizae radix et rhizoma, Natrii sulfas, Aurantii fructus immaturus, Corydalis rhizoma, Scutellariae radix, Magnoliae officinalis cortex. Conclusion:The eliminating stasis by purging for acute pancreatitis is dominated by Rhei radix et rhizoma, channeling Fu Qi method is based on Aurantii fructus immaturus and Bupleuri radix, and eliminating stasis by purging combined with channeling Fu Qi methods can be used with Magnoliae officinalis cortex, Natrii sulfas, etc.

RESUMEN

Diabetes and depression are both incurable chronic diseases, which are complementary and integrated. They are clinically called diabetic depression. A large number of epidemiological and clinical studies have confirmed that diabetes interacts with depression, leading to complex conditions of diabetic depression, difficult treatment, and poor prognosis. Diabetes and depression are considered two independent diseases in the majority of the existing clinical methods for the treatment of diabetic depression, with many defects such as low efficiency and severe side effects. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment of diabetic depression, characterized by multiple targets, multiple pathways, and overall coordination, can adjust the synergy between multiple systems of the body and is advantageous in the treatment of diabetic depression. However, the evaluation of the efficacy of TCM in the treatment of diabetic depression is mostly limited to the improvement of clinical symptoms, the control of blood sugar level, and the score of depression scale, and there is a lack of in-depth research on the mechanism of action. Therefore, many researchers are devoted to exploring the underlying mechanism of TCM in the treatment of diabetes combined with depression. Clarifying the comorbidity mechanism is the key in treating diabetic depression. In this study, we made an introduction according to the mechanism based on the relevant research reports on the treatment of diabetic depression with TCM and summarized its specific mechanisms, including insulin resistance, oxidative stress and inflammation, and nervous system disorder. The interaction between the various mechanisms has further aggravated the complexity of diabetic depression. We have drawn a diagram of the mechanism pathways of diabetic depression in order to provide new ideas for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

RESUMEN

Objective:To explore the therapeutic principles and medication regularity of Chinese medicine for the treatment of urolithiasis based on data mining and literature research. Method:Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) was searched for the clinical research papers on Chinese medicinal compounds for the treatment of urolithiasis published from database inception to November 10,2020. Therapeutic methods and Chinese medicinal compounds were extracted from the included papers, and the frequencies of therapeutic methods and the drugs in the Chinese medicinal compounds,as well as the efficacies were analyzed. The medication regularity of high-frequency drugs was explored by association rule analysis and cluster analysis. Result:A total of 247 papers and 247 Chinese medicinal compounds were included, and 209 drugs were involved. Those with high frequencies included Lysimachiae Herba,Galli Gigerii Endothelium Corneum,Lygodii Spora,Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix,Pyrrosiae Folium,Plantaginis Semen, and Talcum. The drugs with the highest frequency were effective in promoting urination, draining dampness, and activating blood to resolve stasis, followed by those in tonifying deficiency, regulating Qi,and purgation. Galli Gigerii Endothelium Corneum,Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma, and Succinum were used as specialized drugs targeting the syndrome. Association rule analysis showed that Lysimachiae Herba,Galli Gigerii Endothelium Corneum, and Lygodii Spora were commonly used in pairwise or ternary combination, followed by the pairwise combinations of Lysimachiae Herba with Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix,Pyrrosiae Folium, and Plantaginis Semen. High-frequency drugs were clustered into four categories by clustering analysis. Thirty-one therapeutic principles were employed in the 247 Chinese medicinal compounds. The ones with the highest frequency were clearing heat and eliminating dampness, resolving stasis and promoting urination, and tonifying kidney and replenishing qi. Conclusion:For the treatment of urolithiasis, promoting urination and draining dampness is the core therapeutic principle, and activating blood to resolve stasis is the important therapeutic principle, while tonifying is the potential therapeutic principle. The medication for urolithiasis is featured by specialized drugs targeting the syndrome.
