RESUMEN

AIM:Cinnamyl aldehyde (CA) is one alcohol ingredient derived from Cinnamomum cassia, which is widely used in treating chronic skin wound in Chinese medicine with the curative effect of ‘rescuing YANG’. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the expression of c-Fos, c-Myc proteins at different time points in NIH3T3 treated with CA and explore the possible mechanism of promoting cell proliferation by CA. METHODS: MTT assay was used for observing cell proliferation. Expression of c-Fos and c-Myc proteins in NIH3T3 cells were assessed by immunocytochemistry assay. RESULTS: The cell proliferation was promoted obviously when CA concentration was between 8.8?10-2 ?g/L and 8.8?10 ?g/L. CA at concentration of 5.5 ?g/L significantly induced expression of c-Fos, c-Myc proteins at 2-3 h after the stimulation compared with control group (P

RESUMEN

Objective To evaluate the quality of Cortex Cinnamomi from genuine producing areas and GAP planting base, and to compare with those of the commercial medicinal materials. Methods A RP-HPLC method was carried out to determine the content of cinnamyl aldehyde in cortex cinnamomi.Combined with the comparison of volatile oil yield, total ash content and acid-insoluble ash content, the quality of the samples was evaluated with the index of cinnamyl aldehyde content. Results The total ash contents and acid-insoluble ash contents of all samples were in the normal range.Cinnamyl aldehyde contents and volatile oil yields for samples from genuine producing areas and GAP planting base were up to the pharmacopoeia. There was a great fluctuation in cinnamyl aldehyde contents and volatile oil yields in commercial materials. Conclusions The quality is good and stable for the samples from genuine producing areas and GAP planting base, but it is not stable for the commercial materials.

RESUMEN

AIM: To establish the quality standard of Siang Pure Oil (menthol, peppermint oil, camphor, cassia oil, basil oil, etc.). METHODS: TLC was used for the identification of cassia oil and basil oil. Capillary gas chromatography (CGC) was used for the identification and determination of camphor and menthol. RESULTS: The TLC and CGC identification were highly specific. The standard curves of camphor and menthol were linear in the range of 0.1018~0.1832?g, and of 0.5947~1.3875?g, respectively. The average recoveries of camphor and menthol were 102.4%, 99.2% and the RSD were 2.3%, 1.4%, respectively. CONCLUSION: This quality standard is capable of effectively controlling the quality of Siang Pure Oil.
