It was considered that acupuncture syncope was closely related to excessive hunger or satiation, mental tension, physical weakness, inappropriate acupuncture manipulation, and poor ventilation and noise in consulting room. Once acupuncture syncope occurred, the needle should be withdrawn immediately and the patient took a lying position and drank warm sugar water for relief. However, Yang Jizhou in the Ming dynasty has three aspects of the new discussion in Complete Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion. This article explores and analyzes the discussions and hopes to find the methods of avoiding and solving clinical acupuncture syncope to further improve the safety and efficacy of acupuncture.
