RESUMEN

Objective:To explore the chain mediating effect of core self-evaluation and social withdrawal on the relationship between peer relationship and depression symptoms of adolescents. Methods:From September 2020 to October 2020, a sample of 1 936 students from grade 4 to grade 9 of different schools completed a cross-section questionnaire survey including the inventory of parent and peer attachment, core self-evaluation scale, child social preference scale-R and depression self-rating scale for children.SPSS 21.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro program were used for data statistics. The statistical methods included analysis of variance, correlation analysis and intermediary effect test.Results:(1) Peer relationship (94.78±17.27) was positively correlated with core self-evaluation (34.14±7.52) ( r=0.50, P<0.01), and negatively correlated with depression (12.21±6.02) and social withdrawal (32.34±11.45) ( r=-0.55, -0.58, both P<0.01). Core self-evaluation was negatively associated with social withdrawal and depression symptoms ( r=-0.48, -0.67, both P<0.01), while social withdrawal and depression was positively correlated ( r=0.54, P<0.01). (2) Peer relationship had a significant direct effect on depression symptoms (the effect value=-0.205, P<0.01). Core self-evaluation and social withdrawal respectively separate mediated the effect of peer relationship on depression symptoms (the effect value=-0.231, -0.088, 95% CI=-0.261--0.202, -0.110--0.068), while the chain mediating effect of the two was significant, and the effect value was -0.025(95% CI=-0.033--0.019). Conclusion:Good peer relationship can lead to higher core self-evaluation and less social withdrawal behaviors in adolescents that serves as buffer from depression.

RESUMEN

Objective@#To investigate the effect of leader-member exchange on nurses’sense of calling in workplace based on self-determination theory.@*Methods@#A total of 381 nurses were randomly selected from five tertiary general hospitals in Zhejiang province, China from October to December, 2016. They were subjected to a survey using the Leader-Member Exchange Scale, Job Autonomy Scale, Core Self-Evaluation Scale, and Calling Scale. The mediating effect was used to test the procedures and the data were subjected to hierarchical regression analysis.@*Results@#The leader-member exchange was positively correlated with job autonomy, core self-evaluation, and sense of calling (r=0.471, P<0.001; r=0.373, P<0.001; r=0.475, P<0.001) ; the leader-member exchange had a positive predictive effect on job autonomy and sense of calling (β= 0.47, P<0.001; β=0.48, P<0.001) ; the job autonomy had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between leader-member exchange and sense of calling (F=66.50, P<0.001) ; the core self-evaluation negatively adjusted the positive relationship between leader-member exchange and job autonomy (F=27.81, P<0.001) .@*Conclusion@#High-quality leader-member exchange enhances the sense of calling by improving staffs’ job autonomy and the core self-evaluation reduces the positive relationship between leader-member exchange and job autonomy.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: This study evaluates the relationship between job competency, job performance, and core self-evaluation in dental hygienists. METHODS: The subjects were registered and working dental hygienists in dental clinics. Two surveys were conducted. The first survey was conducted at an academic conference, and the second was via post. The conference participants were 200 dental hygienists, and 156 questionnaires were returned. Another 200 dental hygienists received the questionnaire via mail, and 123 returned the questionnaires. There were 279 questionnaires returned in total; however, only 269 questionnaires were included in the analysis. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 12.0. RESULTS: Job performance was classified into oral health education, prevention treatment, and dental assisting. Competency was classified into achievement and behavior, personal leverage, and recognition specialty. All competency of dental hygienists was similarly taken, but the factors influencing each competency differed from the contents of job performance. Thus, appropriate education and training programs are needed by dental hygienists. Factors such as recognition specialty competency, age, and core self-evaluation influenced oral health education. Recognition specialty competency and core self-evaluation influenced prevention treatment. Moreover, academic ability and core self-evaluation influenced concertation of treatment. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that the dental hygienists who have a more positive attitude have better job performance. Thus, dental hygienists require continuous evaluation to enhance their professional qualities.
