Uso del modelador elástico de Bimler en el tratamiento de pacientes con pseudomesioclusión / Use of the Bimler elastic modeler in the treatment of patients with pseudomesiocclusion

Se efectuó un estudio cuasiexperimental, de intervención terapéutica, en 15 niños de 5-7 años de edad con clase III funcional, quienes acudieron a la consulta de Ortodoncia de la Clínica Estomatológica Provincial Docente "Mártires del Moncada" de Santiago de Cuba, desde septiembre del 2015 hasta febrero del 2016, a fin de emplear el modelador elástico de Bimler para el tratamiento interceptivo de estos pacientes. Para obtener la información se realizó el diagnóstico diferencial con los 5 aspectos descritos por Moyers, posteriormente se eliminaron las interferencias y se instaló el aparato. Se obtuvieron excelentes resultados, pues todas las características inadecuadas pasaron a ser adecuadas, siendo estos cambios estadísticamente significativos. Se concluyó que los niños mayormente afectados con clase III funcional fueron del sexo masculino, 6 años de edad y color de la piel mestizo.

A quasi-experimental of therapeutic intervention study was carried out in 15 children aged 5-7 with class III functional who went to the Orthodontics Service of "Mártires del Moncada" Teaching Provincial Stomatologic Clinic in Santiago de Cuba, from September, 2015 to February, 2016, in order to use the Bimler elastic modeler for the interceptive treatment of these patients. To obtain the information the differential diagnosis with the 5 aspects described by Moyers was carried out, later on the interferences were eliminated and the apparatus was placed. Excellent results were obtained, because all the inadequate characteristics became appropriate, being these changes statistically significant. It was concluded that the most affected children with class III functional were from the male sex, 6 years and mixed race.

Estado de la oclusión y tratamiento selectivo en niños con dentición temporal y mixta temprana / State of the occlusion and selective treatment in children with early temporary and mixed teething

Se realizó una investigación descriptiva, longitudinal y prospectiva de 80 niños de 5-6 años de edad, correspondientes al nivel preescolar, que asistieron al Círculo Infantil "Ana de Quesada" de Santiago de Cuba desde octubre de 2010 hasta septiembre de 2011, para determinar la presencia de interferencias dentarias y alteraciones morfofuncionales en ellos, en caso de existir, así como también la posterior evolución del tratamiento de tallado selectivo (terapia neuroclusal) de Planas en los 53 escolares en los cuales fue preciso aplicarlo, siempre en sus dientes temporales. En 94,0 % de los pacientes tratados con la mencionada técnica se logró restablecer la dinámica mandibular, al rebajar las interferencias cuspídeas y lograr que masticasen por el lado o los lados requeridos, según sus características individuales.

A descriptive, longitudinal and prospective investigation of 80 children aged 5-6 years, corresponding to the preschool level that attended "Ana de Quesada" day care center in Santiago de Cuba was carried out from October, 2010 to September, 2011, to determine the presence of dental interferences and morphofunctional disorders in them, in case they existed, as well as the following course of Planas elective carving treatment (neuroclusal therapy ) in the 53 scholars in whom was necessary to apply it, always in their deciduous teeth. In the 94.0% of patients treated with the mentioned technique it was possible to reestablish the dynamic maxilla, when reducing the cuspid interferences and achieving chewing for the side or the required sides, according to their individual characteristics.
