Objective: To assess trends for information skills in doctoral training. Methodology: Firstly, the collection of bibliographic and documentary information based on detecting, obtaining and consulting the existing bibliography for the study purposes; as well as extracting and compiling the relevant and necessary information to carry out the theoretical-conceptual study related to information skills in doctoral training. Results: Internationally, the authors' references and groups coincide about the challenge posed by the introduction of technological changes for doctoral students and define the necessary information skills for supporting this process. Conclusions: The results obtained allowed to determine the profile followed by the international scientific generality investigating information skills and to establish new links with the stages of educational research and the components of the doctoral training program.

RESUMEN

Objective Medical statistics is an important tool in scientific research and practice. The article was to evaluate the current knowledge, learning needs and related influencing factors of medical statistics among medical doctoral students to provide references for the optimization in the teaching mode of medical statistics. Methods A questionnaire was used to investigate Grade 2014 doctoral students who took medical statistics course before and after the teaching in a medical university. Results The knowl-edge of doctoral students were at different levels and they had different learning requirements.More than 81.4% of the respondents have difficulty in the choice of scientific and reasonable design and the scientific design.Over 50%students had insufficient knowledge of advanced statistics and poor software application ability. They had the demands for more practical cases explanation in theory course, more software teaching hours and some short term specialized courses. Conclusion The university and teachers should carry out teaching reform according to the particularity of doctoral students and teach in small sections according to their knowledge levels of sta-tistics and learning requirements. It is suggested that the teaching should be combined with the students'own research projects in order to improve the teaching effect and improve the students'ability in sta-tistical design and solving the practical problem in scientific research statistics.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the evaluation of medical doctoral students on medical statistics teaching. Methods An investigation was carried out among doctoral students of 2012 using questionnaires in a medical university. A total of 272 doctoral students were investigated and 266 (97.79%)of them had learned medical statistics before enrollment. Statistical description was used to analyze enumeration data by calculating cases and percentages. Results More than 88.00% of them thought that medical statistics was helpful for their future work. More than 60.00% of them thought that the present teaching contents were appropriate and about 93.00% of them thought that examina-tion mode was appropriate. However,65.00% of them thought that the class hours were not enough and some con-tents should be explained more clearly. Conclusions Both basic statistics methods and advanced statistics methods should be given consideration to. Some frontier or hot knowledge of medi-cal statistics should be arranged and the class hours should be increased to expand the content of teaching.

RESUMEN

Objective To estimate the incentive and guidance of degree policy for the doctoral student's capacity-building. Methods Totally 1185 published SCI papers completed by 1 013 doc-toral students from 2008 to 2012 in Capital Medical University were filed and impact factors of these SCI journals taken as analysis objects were organized using Microsoft Office Excellsoftware. ANOVA was used for data procession and t-test was used for statistical analysis. P<0.05 signifies statistically significant difference. Results This study showed that 97%doctoral students can complete SCI paper publication in compliance with requirements of doctoral degree policy. Quality of SCI papers of aca-demic degree PhDs was higher than that of professional degree PhDs(P=0.00). Level of SCI papers of PhDs in basic disciplines was higher than that of PhDs in clinical disciplines (P=0.00). In addition, this study found that higher leveled SCI papers originated primarily from the national key disciplines and co-first authors. Conclusions The appropriate degree policies play an important guiding role in enhancing the quality of doctoral students' education. Degree-granting units should make more specific guidance policies according to different types of disciplines and cultures, such as raising published arti-cle requirements to the clinical professional PhDs, improving and standardizing relevant degree poli-cies about SCI papers published by co-first authors, strengthening disciplinary conditions building, etc.
