Contexto y elecciones ocupacionales de adolescentes que se identifican como homosexuales / Context and occupational choices of adolescents that identify themselves as homosexuals

El siguiente artículo, enmarcado dentro de la Ciencia de la Ocupación, busca analizar cómo los adolescentes chilenos, que se identifican como homosexuales, experimentan la influencia del contexto sobre sus elecciones ocupacionales. La información fue recopilada a través de entrevistas individuales y por medio de un grupo de discusión desde cuatro adolescentes chilenos. Se realizó un análisis interpretativo de los resultados, donde en primera instancia los participantes no identificaron la influencia que existe desde el contexto sobre las elecciones ocupacionales por el hecho de identificarse como personas homosexuales. Sin embargo, en el análisis de su discurso y producto de una influencia heteronormada que predomina en la sociedad chilena, se señalan aspectos que indican cómo el contexto influye sobre las elecciones ocupacionales de estos jóvenes. Finalmente, destacan que esta influencia de la heteronorma no es exclusiva a las personas debido a su orientación sexual, sino que repercute en todos los aspectos de la vida de los sujetos, en consecuencia, es parte de la cultura predominante...

The following article, framed within Occupational Science, aims to investigate and analyze how Chilean adolescents, who identify as homosexuals, experience the influence of context on their occupational choices. Information was collected through individual interviews and a discussion group of four teenagers who met the research criteria. An interpretative analysis was then realized, where at first, participants did not identify influences from the context on their occupational choices, because of identifying themselves as homosexuals. Nevertheless, in the analysis of their speech, aspects are mentioned that indicate that the context influences the occupational selections of these young people, because of the heteronormativity that predominates in the Chilean society. Finally, they emphasize that this influence of heteronormativity is not exclusive to people because of their sexual orientation, but impacts people in all of their life’s aspects, because of the prevailing culture...

La influencia del sistema neoliberal en las elecciones ocupacionales y el impacto en la salud y bienestar desde una perspectiva cualitativa / The influence of the neoliberal system in the occupational elections and its impact on health and wellbeing, from a qualitative perspective

El objetivo del artículo es presentar el proceso de investigación, análisis, resultados y discusión respecto a la influencia del sistema neoliberal en las elecciones ocupacionales y su impacto en la salud y bienestar en el ser humano desde una perspectiva cualitativa. Este estudio fue realizado con una muestra no representativa de población económicamente activa de la ciudad de Valdivia, Chile, en base a la metodología de producciones narrativas. Los principales resultados obtenidos es la constatación de una serie de factores interrelacionados que influyen en las elecciones ocupacionales, considerando elementos propios del sistema neoliberal como uno de los factores influyentes al momento de elegir una actividad productiva, carrera a estudiar, pasatiempos y otros, lo que a su vez impacta en la configuración de la participación ocupacional en las áreas de desempeño ocupacional. Así finalmente se cuestiona el concepto de elecciones ocupacionales, si realmente se dan de forma autónoma y libre, o si debemos reformular este concepto, considerando los factores que influyen en tal proceso y teniendo en cuenta al ser humano como un ser ocupacional, actor social, y junto con ello, la práctica de la Terapia Ocupacional...

The purpose of this article is to show the process of investigation, analysis, results and discussion about the influence of the neoliberal system in the occupational elections and its impact on health and wellbeing from a qualitative perspective. This study was made with a non-representative sample of the active economic population of the city of Valdivia, Chile, with the methodology of narrative productions. The principal results obtained are the verification of a series of interrelated factors that influence the occupational elections, considering elements of the neoliberal system as one of the influential factors at the moment of choosing a productive activity, a university degree, hobbies and others, which at the same time hits the configuration of the occupational participation in the areas of occupational performance. Finally the concept of occupational elections must be questioned, if they’re really stand-alone and exempt choices, or if we must rethink its definition, given the factors that influence this process, and considering the human as an occupational being, as a social actor, and with it the practices of Occupational Therapy...
