RESUMEN

Objective:To explore the status of cancer health literacy of female patients with breast cancer and analyze its influencing factors, in order to provide a reference for formulating targeted interventions to promote the cancer health literacy of female breast cancer patients. Methods:A cross-sectional survey was conducted. From December 2021 to July 2022, 200 female breast cancer patients hospitalized in Hunan Cancer Hospital were investigated with general information questionnaire, chronic disease patients ′ Health Literacy Management Scale (HeLMS), Strategies Used by People to Promote Health (SUPPH) and Spiritual Attitude and Involvement List (SAIL). Results:The total score of cancer health literacy, self-management self-efficacy and spiritual attitude among female breast patients in this group was 84.63 (75.00, 97.00), 97.30(85.25, 112.00) and 105.00(96.00, 118.00) points. There was a positive correlation between cancer health literacy and self-management efficacy ( r=0.524, P<0.01) and spiritual attitude ( r=0.501, P<0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that education level, average monthly family income, self-management efficacy and spiritual attitude were the influencing factors of cancer health literacy of female breast cancer patients ( t values were 2.86 to 5.91, all P<0.05), which explained 45.7% of the total variation. Conclusions:The cancer health literacy of female patients with breast cancer is at a medium level. Nursing staff can improve the self-management efficacy and spiritual attitude of female patients with breast cancer, so as to improve the level of cancer health literacy and quality of life of patients, and then alleviate the pain of patients.

RESUMEN

Objective:To analyze the relationship between physical appearance perfectionism, negative body self, fear of negative evaluation and social appearance anxiety in female patients with psoriasis. Methods:A total of 251 female patients with psoriasis in Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Medical College of Shanghai Jiaotong University from June 2019 to June 2020 were selected as the subjects. Physical Appearance Perfectionism Scale (PPAS), Social Appearance Anxiety Scale (SAAS), Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale (BFNES) and Negetive Physical Self Scale (Npss) were used in the survey. The correlation of negative body self and negative evaluation fear between the appearance perfectionism and social appearance anxiety of female psoriasis patients was analyzed. Results:The score of physical appearance perfectionism was 49.42±5.32, the score of social appearance anxiety was 58.72±6.24, the score of fear of negative evaluation was 30.59±7.21 and the score of negative physical self was 29.21±6.24. Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation among physical appearance perfectionism, social appearance anxiety, fear of negative evaluation and negative physical self ( r value was 0.402-0.488, P<0.01). The mediating effect of negative physical self between physical appearance perfectionism and social appearance anxiety was 0.164 (95% CI 0.082-0.227), the mediating effect of negative body self between physical appearance perfectionism and social appearance anxiety was 0.152 (95% CI 0.079-0.214) and the chain mediating effect of fear of negative evaluation and negative physical self was 0.067 (95% CI 0.025-0.108). Conclusions:Female patients with psoriasis have a high level of physical appearance perfectionism, which can directly affect their social anxiety, while fear of negative evaluation and negative physical self indirectly affect the correlation between appearance perfectionism and social appearance anxiety. Psychological intervention measures should be taken to reduce their psychological burden on their own appearance defects and carry out social anxiety and fear.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate gait characteristics of both lower limbs in female patients before and after unilateral total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Methods Based on three-dimensional (3D) motion capture system and independent-sample t test, gait parameters of 10 female patients were compared in both lower limbs and compared with those of 10 healthy subjects before and after TKA. Results The preoperative stance phase, peak adduction angle, adduction-abduction range of motion (ROM) and peak flexion moment of the unoperated knee were significantly higher than those of the operated knee (P<0.05), while postoperative gait parameters were similar in both sides. Compared with the control group, the patients had significantly lower speed and stride length, longer double support time before TKA (P<0.05). Moreover, the operated knee demonstrated significantly lower peak extension and adduction angles, adduction-abduction ROM, peak flexion and abduction moments, higher peak adduction moment, and the unoperated knee revealed significantly lower peak extension angle, higher peak flexion and adduction moments than the control group before TKA (P<0.05). The greater differences of peak knee extension angles and adduction moments of both sides still existed in the two groups after TKA (P<0.05). Conclusions Unilateral TKA could ease pain and reduce gait deviations in both lower limbs of patients. However, there were still gait differences compared with the control group. Patients still suffered deficits in joint function, such as muscle strength and proprioception, and revealed pathological gait and posture. It’s advised that patients should enhance muscle strength of the operated limb, and take gait correction exercises. Female patients should also control walking speed to avoid increasing pressure on the knee after TKA.

RESUMEN

Background: Obesity is an important preventable risk factor that can affect wound healing. Oral hypoglycemic drug metformin apart from its antihyperglycemic and not hypoglycemic property has been reported to promote wound healing in nondiabetic animal studies and weight reduction in non-diabetic individuals. Hence, this: prospective randomized study single-blind placebo-controlled study was designed with the aim to assess the efficacy and safety of metformin in wound healing and weight reduction in a tertiary care hospital in Pondicherry during the period between December 2012 and January 2014. Methods: 215 non-diabetic post-operative patients with body mass index (BMI) of 25-29.9 kg/m2 from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology included after obtaining informed consent received tablet metformin 500 mg or placebo B.D from 2nd post-operative day up-to 30 days. Fasting blood sugar, postprandial blood sugar, BMI were recorded initially, and at the end. Clinical evaluation of wound was done on 8th, 15th and 30th post-operative days. Unpaired t-test was applied to compare the two groups for quantitative analysis and Chi-square test to analyze the qualitative outcome by using GraphPad prism - 6 software. p<0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. Results: Surgical site infection of 13.3% and 3.3% was observed in control and metformin groups respectively. Wound healing promoting effect of metformin was evidenced by p=0.0087 and 0.01 on 8th and on 15th day. Weight reducing effect was evidenced by p=0.0001 on comparing BMI. No significant hypoglycemia was observed. No adverse drug reaction was reported. Conclusions: Our study has shown metformin having best wound healing and weight reducing effect without producing hypoglycemia. Long-term studies on all types of surgeries in both males and females including emergencies are suggested.

RESUMEN

Ischemic heart disease is estimated to be the most important cause of mortality by the end of 2020 world wide despite sufficient improvement in health care. It has several modifiable and few non modifiable prognostic variables. Therefore, we analyzed the data of all patients admitted for the first time for acute myocardial infarction (MI) and evaluated the long term modifiable prognostic variables retrospectively. We did not find any difference in the age, blood pressure, hematological and several biochemical parameters between patients who survived and those who expired in 4 years of follow up. Our study revealed that in the expired group patients, the mean admission heart rate, ejection fraction, serum urea and creatinine levels were higher and bicarbonate level was lower compared to survived group patients at the first attack of MI. Also, despite the less incidence of myocardial infarction in females, the percentage of cardiac death was higher in female MI patients. We suggest from our retrospective analysis that MI patients with higher heart rate, altered renal function and metabolic acidosis should be rigorously followed up and special counseling should be provided to old age female patients for better prognosis and survival.

RESUMEN

Objective To explore the correlation between phenotypes in female with X-linked Alport syndrome(XLAS) and X-inactivation of different tissues. Methods Thirty-six female diagnosed as XLAS were studied, and proteinuria was taken as a marker of the severity of clinical phenotypes.X-inactivation patterns were analyzed in peripheral blood cells of 36 XLAS female and in skin fibroblasts of 12 XLAS female. The X-inactivation analysis was performed by using Hpa Ⅱ predigestion of DNA followed by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) of the highly polymorphic CAG repeat of the androgen receptor gene. Results The average X-inactivation levels of the mutant allele decreased while the degree of proteinuria increased,so there was a negative correlation between the degree of proteinuria and the X-inactivation ratios of the mutant allele in blood cells(r=-0.543,P=0.002).However,there was no correlation between the degree of proteinuria and the X-inactivation ratios of the mutant allele in skin fibroblasts(r=-0.131,P=0.701).Conclusions X-inactivation ratios might explain partially the diverse phenotypes in XLAS female patients, which suggested that the prognosis of XLAS female might be predicted via analysis of the X-inactivation in peripheral blood cells.
