RESUMEN

ABSTRACT On the basis of external morphology and genitalia of males, as well as a comparison between different species belonging to other groups of Dichotomius, we propose a redefinition of the "buqueti" species group separated by Luederwaldt (1929). Six species are excluded from this group and transferred to other groups: D. ribeiroi (Pereira, 1954) in the "cotopaxi" group; D. camposeabraiMartínez, 1974 in the "bitiensis" group; D. reclinatus (Felsche, 1901), D. horridus (Felsche, 1911), D. quadrinodosus (Felsche, 1901) and D. nimuendaju (Luederwaldt, 1925) (revalidated species) forming the newly defined "reclinatus" group. The other species kept in the "buqueti" group include D. buqueti (Lucas, 1857) from Brazil (lectotype here designated), D. haroldi (Waterhouse, 1891) from Argentina and D. nutans (Harold, 1867) from Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. The taxonomic revision of the "buqueti" group are presented, including a history of the included species, a determination key, illustrations of the structures of external morphology, male genitalia and sclerites of the internal sac, and a distribution map.

RESUMEN

Se describe el caso clínico de un paciente de 39 años de edad, sin antecedentes patológicos personales y procedente de un área rural, que fue operado en el Hospital General Peltier de la República de Djibouti por habérsele fracturado el cuerpo cavernoso del pene durante el coito, lo cual obligó a realizarle una incisión circunferencial subcoronal, que finalmente garantizó buenos resultados estéticos y funcionales de ese órgano genital externo.


The case report of a 39 year-old patient, without personal pathological history and coming from a rural area, who was surgically treated at the Peltier General Hospital of the Djibouti Republic due to a fracture in the corpus cavernosum of penis during the coitus, that forced to make him a circunferencial subcoronal incision which finally guaranteed good aesthetic and functional results of that external genital organ.

Screening and detecting sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) is a form of secondary prevention, which interrupts further transmission as well as progression of the infection and its sequelae. Unfortunately, primary prevention, by means of education and taking safe sex partners, has not been enough to significantly curb the prevalence and high cost of STDs. Bacterial STDs are decreasing in their prevalence whereas the prevalence of viral STDs has increased significantly in recent years. The differential diagnosis for genital ulcers, urethritis, and genital warts is very important. For example, syphilis, chancroid, lymphogranuloma venereum, and herpes simplex for genital ulcer are mistaken for other causes such as Behcet's syndrome, drug eruption, erythema multiforme, amebiasis, trauma, and carcinoma. Confirmatory testings made by cultures, PCR, or serologic studies are important for appropriate treatment and eradication of the disease in both patients and their partners. The physicians treating STDs should make special efforts to be sure that his or her methods of diagnosis and treatment reflect the latest knowledge, since the epidemiologic characteristics and treatment trends are rapidly changing based on newly appearing resistant strains.

FSH is the pivotal hormone in the regulation of ovarian function and acts by binding to specific receptor, FSH receptor (FSHR), which is belong to the family of G-protein coupled receptor. It have been considered that ovary is the only target organ of FSH because FSHR mRNA was first detected in ovarian follicles. However expression of FSHR mRNA was also detected on fallopian tube in experimental animal study and it is related wih tumorigenesis in postmenopausal women.In this study, in order to understand the FSH function in female genital organs, the ontogeny of the production profile of FSHR and the pattern of its localization in female genital organs were studied. We obtained the fresh tissues of ovary, fallopian tube, uterine body and uterine cervix with blood samples during proliferative phase in women with regular menstrual cycle. To establish FSHR mRNA expression of human internal genital organ, we studied by using in situ hybridization and quantitative competitive reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (QC RT-PCR). To localize FSHR transcripts by in situ hybridization, we synthesized digoxigenin-labelled ssRNA probe (about 800 bp) from the cloned FSHR cDNA. For QC RT-PCR, we designed oligonucleotide primers (antisense: 5'-GGCCCTGCTCCTGGTCTCTTTG-3', sense: 3'-AACAGCGGGAGTACCTTCGG-5') which produced 799 bp sized PCR products. Simultaneously we synthesized 149 bp deleted DNA competitor by site-directed mutagenesis to quantify target FSHR mRNA expression comparing as internal control.In situ hybridization with digoxigenin-labelled ssRNA probe showed no signal above the background in primordial follicles. FSHR mRNA was first detected in the single layer of cuboidal granulosa cells surrounding primary follicles. As follicular growth progressed, FSHR mRNA expression increased gradually in antral and graafian follicles. Similary, in fallopian tube, the epithelium stained intensly. But FSHR mRNA expression was absent in uterine body including endometrium and myometrium and uterine cervix. Total RNA was extracted and quantitated by QC RT-PCR. The amounts of FSHR transcript measured were 840.00+/-516.29 in the ovarian tissue, 240.00+/-154.91 in the fallopian tube, 6.06+/-4.13 in the uterine body, 5.48+/-5.00 fg in the uterine cervix. These experiments demonstrated that FSHR mRNA is expressed in the ovary and fallopian tube, albeit only small amount was expressed in uterine body and cervix.In conclusion, the presence of FSHR mRNA in female internal genital organ with site specific pattern suggested that FSH may have some role in female genital organs during the adult reproductive cycle and may act as an factor in the tumorigenesis. Further study about the functional role and tumorigenesis of FSH should be performed in human internal genital organ.
