RESUMEN

Intracranial lipomas are congenital, benign and slow-growing tumors. The incidence were 0.1 to 0.5 percent of all primary brain tumors and are often diagnosed in incidental findings of neuroradiological investigation. Lipoma in quadrigeminal region occurs in 25 percent of intracranial lipomas and has been reported as lipomas in quadrigeminal cistern (perimesencephalic cistern), quadrigeminal plate, ambiens cistern or superior medullary velum. MRI is the most major exam. The treatment is conservative in most cases, surgical removal is hampered by their deep location and contiguous with adjacent neurovascular structures. The authors report two cases of lipoma in the quadrigeminal region, incidental findings and discuss the clinical findings, neuroimaging and treatment.

Intracranial lipomas are rare, and most of these tumors are found in the region of the corpus callosum, followed by cerebellopontine angle. We present a case of a intracranial lipoma in 30-year-old man. Brain computed tomography (CT) scan and magnetic resonance images (MRI) showed a mass in the medulla oblongata extending to foramen magnum. The histopathologically, diagnosis of lipoma was confirmed. Although there were several cases of cervical intraspinal lipoma extending into posterior cranial fossa, there have been no previous reports of a lipoma arising from the medulla oblongata that extended into the foramen magnum. We describe a rare case of intradural subpial lipoma in the medulla oblongata with a review of the literature.

RESUMEN

Intracranial lipoma is a rare tumor. It is considered as congenital malformation, caused by poor differentiation and abnormal persistence of the primitive meninges. More frequently intracranial lipomas are central and located in the midline especially in corpus callosum. We report the two cases of intracranial lipoma, one case was detected in cerebellum by antenatal sonography and the other one was detected in right temporal cistern by cranial sonography during the postnatal follow-up.

RESUMEN

Intracranial lipomas are rare lesions, which represent 0.1-1.7% of all intracranial tumors. They preferentially occur near the midline, most frequently in the pericallosal cistern, and are often associated with various neurologic and systemic anomalies. Magnetic resonance imaging and computerized tomography together with clinical trials are of crucial importance for diagnosis. We report a rare case of intracranial lipoma of the body of corpus callosum in a child, who has had cyclic headache, vertigo, with a review of the literature.

RESUMEN

Linear and whorled nevoid hypermelanosis(LWNH) is characterized by macules in streaks and whorls along Blaschko's lines, that are not preceded by inflammation. LWNH can present with various findings such as neurologic, musculoskeletal, ophthalmologic, facial and cardiac abnormalities. Intracranial lipoma is very rare condition, with an incidence of less than 1% of all intracranial tumors. We recently experienced a case of LWNH with intracranial lipoma of corpus callosum. We report this case with a brief review of the related literature.

RESUMEN

Intracranial lipoma is a rare benign brain tumor and ususally occurs in the midline structures, especially in the corpus callosum. The author report a case of intracranial lipoma in the left sylvian cistern. Sylvian cistern lipomas may be asymptomatic or present with epileptic seizures due to irritation of the cortex of the sylvian fissure. The majority of cases are incidental or autopsy findings and direct surgical approach is only rarely indicated. The patient complained severe headache after head injury, the severe headache did not respose to medical therapy. Craniectomy was performed and then the tumor was removed. The literatures on this rare tumor are reviewed and discussed.

RESUMEN

A case of rare symptomatic cerebellopontine angle lipoma treated by surgical decompression is described. In this 28-year-old male with intermittent facial pain 17 years, a mass was noted in the right cerebellopontine angle on C-T and MRI. Partial removal of the mass was made for decompression of the lesion from the trigeminal nerve root entry zone. The surgical biopsy results was lipoma. This represents, to our knowledge, the first lipoma in the cerebellopontine angle reportes in the Korean literature.

RESUMEN

While lipomas are common in the rest of the body, intracranial lipomas are rare condition which are usually found in the midline of the brain. The majority of these lesions show few or even no symptoms and hardly ever produce alarming neurological defects. We experienced a case of corpus callosum lipoma in a 7 year old boy, who has had headache and loss of consciousness twice. He was diagnosed by skull x-rays and brain CT. We made a brief review of literatures. @PG 428.

RESUMEN

Lipoma involving brain and spinal cord is a rare tumor that most commonly located in the midsagittal region. This lesion is usually asymptomatic and has been reported incidentally at postmortem examination. Recently, the CT scan establishes the diagnosis of intracranial lipoma on the basis of typical X-ray absorption and location. The authors experienced a case of intracranial lipoma of occipital lobes. The patient was 7 months-old male who had protruding mass on the occipital region after birth. The mass revealed an uncapsulated lipoma with foca cartilage formation. We report this case with brief review of literatures.

RESUMEN

Intracranial lipomas are rare tumor which are usually found along the midline cerebral cisterns. A case of sylvian lipoma located usually at sylvian fissure was diagnosed by CT scanning and was confirmed with operation. Only partial resection could be done. The literature was reviewed and therapeutic options are proposed.

RESUMEN

Intracranial lipomas are rare tumor which are usually found at or near the mid saggital plane, especially in the corpus callosum. 3 cases of intracranial lipomas, diagnosed by CT scanning, are presented. The first case was a lipoma involving the midline of occiput to the bilateral occipital lobes through the skull defect. There was a calcified area in this tumor. The second case presented a generalized convulsive seizure as clinical manifestation, and the lipoma was found to be located in the corpus callosum. In the third case, the lipoma was located near the third ventricle and the tumor was found incidentally after head trauma. The first case was operated and the tumor was completely removed, the others were managed with symptomatic treatment. The literature on this rare tumor is reviewed and discussed.
