RESUMEN

ObjectiveTo observe the effects of fire-needle of Lingnan on the vitiligo model after hydroquinone-induced oxidative stress based on the Hippo-YAP signaling pathway. MethodsC57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into normal group (Control), model group (HQ), HQ+fire-needle group (FA), and positive control group (Halometasone), with 8 mice in each group. The vitiligo model was prepared by hydroquinone (HQ). The skin pathological changes were observed by depigmentation score, HE staining and Masson-Fontana. Elisa was used to detect the levels of tyrosinase (TYR), malondialdehyde (MDA) and monoamine oxidase (MAO).Western-blot and PCR were used to detect the expression of Yap1 and Tp73 among the groups. ResultsCompared with the control group, the epidermis and dermis were significantly thicker. The number of melanocyte hair follicles, basal melanocytes, epidermal cells containing melanin granules were significantly decreased, and the depigmentation score was significantly reduced(P<0.01). The level of TYR decreased, and the levels of MDA and MAO increased after modeling(P<0.01). The expression of Yap1 and Tp73 were significantly reduced (P<0.01). The dermis became thinner in the halometasone and FA group after treatment of 4 weeks. The number of melanocyte hair follicles, basal melanocytes, epidermal cells containing melanin granules increased (P<0.05). Compared with that of the HQ group, the level of TYR in the halometasone group and FA group was significantly increased (P<0.01). The levels of MDA and MAO in the FA group were decreased (P<0.05). The expressions of Yap1 and Tp73 in the FA group were significantly increased (P<0.01), and their effects were better than those in the Halometasone group (P<0.05). ConclusionsFire-needle of Lingnan protects melanocytes from oxidative stress by activating the Hippo-YAP pathway. It enhances the synthesis and function of melanocytes and promotes repigmentation by reducing the content and activity of oxidative stress products.

RESUMEN

The climate in the Lingnan area south China is characterized by high temperature and rainy days, and in terms of the eating habits, the local people are more addicted to raw, cold and savory food, all of which make Lingnan people prone to a constitution of upper heat and lower cold, and pathological manifestations of upper heat and lower cold. It is believed that the main pathogenesis of hyperthyroidism in Lingnan area is the upper heat and the lower cold, manifested as spleen yang deficiency and stomach fire excess, or kidney water depletion and heart fire hyperactivity, leading to upper heat and lower cold syndrome caused by disharmony of yin and yang and abnormal ascending and descending. Therefore, spleen cold and stomach heat and disharmony between the heart and the kidney are the main syndromes of hyperthyroidism in Lingnan area. Modified Huanglian Decoction (黄连汤) is commonly used. Additionally, for spleen cold and stomach heat syndrome, Fushen (Sclerotium Poriae Pararadicis) and Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) can be added to supplement spleen and stomach, thereby treating both the root and the branch. In terms of the disharmony between the heart and the kidney syndrome, Muli (Concha Ostreae) is usually added to subdue yang and supplement yin, together with Wuweizi (Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis) to supplement kidney and calm heart and Shashen (Radix Adenophorae seu Glehniae) to nourish yin and engender liquid, thereby enriching kidney-water and moistening heart-yin. Modification of the formulas is suggested in accordance with the syndromes to achieve a better effect.

RESUMEN

Based on the unique syndrome characteristics of metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) in Lingnan (岭南) area, this paper discussed the clinical experience of Huangqi (Radix Astragali) in the treatment of MAFLD in Lingnan area. It is summarized that spleen deficiency and yang weakness, and internal accumulation of damp-turbidity are the source of the disease, and at the early stage, Huangqi, commonly 15~30 g, could be used to fortify the spleen and warm the earth, thereby making the deficiency fire latent, as well as raise the clear and warm the exterior so as to inhibit damp-turbidity; medication needs to be progressively supplemented, and can be used together with Taizishen (Radix Pseudostellariae), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), Fuling (Poria), and Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) to back up the earth and inhibit dampness. Qi stagnation and blood constraint, yin dampness and heat accumulation are the pathogenesis of disease progression. Huangqi should be taken to invigorate the spleen and flourish the liver, unblock yang, and move stagnation. The dosage is often maintained at 30~60 g, to circulate the qi and unblock yang qi in the middle jiao (焦), usually combined with Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) and Yujin (Radix Curcumae) integrating warm and cool medicinals. Stubborn turbid and fat condensing in the liver is a severe stage of the disease and may be concurrent with various pathogens such as dampness, phlegm, and heat, for which 60~90 g Huangqi should be used to invigorate blood and disperse fat, reinforce healthy qi and expel pathogens, often with medicinals that can disperse fat and direct the turbid downward such as Shanzha (Fructus Crataegi), Juemingzi (Semen Cassiae), Lulutong (Fructus Liquidambaris) and Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis). When prescribing, it is suggested to combine with other medicinals according to the season, thereby adjusting the ascending and descending of the property of Huangqi, thereby conforming to the nature of the four seasons.

RESUMEN

The paper summarizes professor LIN Guo-hua's clinical experience in staging treatment for post-stroke dysphagia. Professor LIN Guo-hua adheres to "essence and marrow deficiency and primary yang decline" as the pathogenesis and "conducting yin from yang " as the treating principle. By regulating the conception vessel and the governor vessel and focusing on yang meridians, in association with meridian differentiation and the location differentiation, professor LIN provides the staging treatment for post-stroke dysphagia. At the oral phase, yangming is dysfunction, manifested as facial paralysis and flaccid tongue. In treatment, reducing method is predominated at yangming meridian specially. At the pharyngeal phase, shaoyang is invaded by pathogens, manifested as pivoting dysfunction. The treatment focuses on communicating the exterior with the interior and promoting shaoyang meridian. At the esophageal phase, yangming meridian is deficiency and the turbid qi fails to descend, thus the reinforcing method is dominated to promote and tonify yangming. Additionally, the kinesiotherapy of acupuncture is assisted and the Lingnan fire needling therapy is used particularly. All of the summaries above provide the reference for the clinical treatment of post-stroke dysphagia.

RESUMEN

Professor - is the representative inheritor of fire needling therapy. He proposed that the clinical application of fire needling is mainly based on pattern differentiation according to eight priciples, as well as in coordination with the theories of meridians and - organs. He believes that dry eye syndrome can be treated from the aspects of deficiency of liver and kidney, heart deficiency, and and deficiency. Through deeply digging the connotation of ancient classics, and combined his clinical practice using fire needling, professor created a unique therapy that select "Neichengqi"as the main acupoint combined with Xialeidian, Dagukong (EX-UE 5), Xiaogukong (EX-UE 6) and Shaoze (SI 1) in the treatment of dry eye syndrome. In this paper, from the etiology and pathogenesis of dry eye syndrome and therapeutic characteristics of fire needling, the thoughts of syndrome differentiation and characteristics of acupoints selection of professor were analyzed by a typical case, and it is expect to enrich the clinical treatment plan for dry eye syndrome.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the awareness of osteoporosis and its influential factors in middle-aged and older people. Methods By using self-designed questionnaire, 354 middle-aged and old people were investigated as to their awarness of osteoporosis in Chajiao street community in Guangzhou. Among them, 58 people were measured the bone density in the calcaneal bone by Ultrasound. Results The average score of the questionnaire was 9.46 ± 5.13, and the accuracy was 39.4%. In the diagnosis and treatment, the accuracy was just 17.8%. The diet (the accuracy in 54%) and sport (the accuracy in 50.3%) were good. The statistical analyses showed the linear relationship between the T value of bone density and the age (P = 0.021), between the T value and the score (P = 0.047). Wilcoxon rank sum test found that the T value between female and male was significantly different (Z = -3.749, P < 0.000). With multiple linear regression analysis, the T value had a linear correlation with the score (F = 4.224, P = 0.045) positively. Conclusions Currently, the awareness of osteoporosis in the middle-aged and old people was inadequate. To better prevent osteoporosis, the propogation of knowledge and guidance provided by clinicians in osteoporosis should be improved necessarily and emergently.
