RESUMEN

Abstract Persistence involves the intention to maintain efforts when faced with obstacles and challenges, in order to achieve a specific goal. The Rigid and Flexible Persistence Scale (RFPS) is a self-report measure that assesses persistence that is theoretically derived from the premises of the Dualistic Model of Passion. The aim of the present research was to adapt the RFPS to Brazilian Portuguese and to estimate its evidence of validity and reliability in the context of work. Participants were 400 professionals, 55.8% women, aged between 18 and 68 years. The results indicate that the RFPS presented validity evidence based on the content. Corresponding to the theoretical expectations, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses demonstrated adequacy of the structure composed of two factors, explaining 75% of the data variance, with good levels of reliability. The RFPS also revealed strong invariance across gender and work conditions (in-person vs remote). Flexible persistence showed positive association with harmonious passion and occupational self-efficacy. Conversely, rigid persistence showed positive association with obsessive passion. It was observed a mediational role of occupational self-efficacy in the relationship between harmonious passion and flexible persistence. Overall, the findings suggest that the RFPS is an adequate measure of persistence in a Brazilian occupational sample.

The objective of this work was to characterize the attitudes of professionals working in the welfare system in cases of sexual abuse and to investigate relationships with the levels of occupational self-efficacy, decision making, sociodemographic and labor characteristics. The study included 165 workers, 86% female, with a mean age of 37.6 years (SD = 10.1 years). The network analysis pointed out that the specificity attitude regulates the attitudes of sensitivity and skepticism. Occupational self-efficacy was not related to any variable and decision making showed a negative correlation with the sensitivity attitude. Age showed a negative correlation with the attitude of sensitivity. Professionals who worked in the legal field had higher levels of fear of not identifying abuse compared to health professionals. The results indicate the need to invest in effective training for the adoption of evidence-based practices in order to act in the different sectors of the protection and care network, as well as the importance of supervising cases for proper identification, notification and referrals.

RESUMEN

Abstract Employees' perceived opportunities to craft (POCs) influence actual job crafting behavior, which may have consequences for their well-being and work performance. This study aimed to validate the perceived opportunities to craft scale (POCS) in the Brazilian context. We collected data from Brazilian employees (N = 1451) in two separate samples. The factor structure, reliability, and convergent validity of the POCS were tested using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), multigroup confirmatory factor analysis (MGCFA), and external variables. The results indicated that the POCS-Brazilian version (with seven-point and five-point Likert scale) replicated the unidimensional structure of the original instrument. POCs showed significant positive and moderate correlations with occupational self-efficacy, work engagement and job crafting, and negative associations with workaholism. Both POCS-Brazilian versions were reliable according to three types of reliability indexes and also showed discriminant and convergent validity evidence.

ABSTRACT The evidences of validity of Occupational Self-Efficacy in Interventions for Populations in Social Vulnerability Scale (OSE - IPSV - S) were evaluated. The sample included 549 professionals of Welfare Network (88% female), mean age 37.8 years (SD = 10 years). The factorial structure of the scale was investigated through an exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM). Results pointed to a one-factor solution of the 18 items version as the most reliable to the data. The results of the concurrent and convergente validity were in the expected direction. The levels of occupational self-efficacy in interventions for populations in social vulnerability were positively related to occupational self-efficacy, positive affect and personal accomplishment, and negatively correlated with negative affect, emotional exhaustion and depersonalization.

The present article tries to gather empirical evidence for the moderating role of occupational self-efficacy beliefs between job satisfaction and specific responses to stress such as irritation at work. A multi-occupational sample of 386 subjects participated in this study, 47.1% women and 52.9% men. The mean age was 38 years old (s.d. 12.03), all of them in an active situation when filling in the following questionnaires: The Irritation Scale, the Job Descriptive Index, and the Occupational Self-Efficacy Scale. Correlation analyses, analyses of variance and regression analyses were carried through. Results obtained through correlation analyses confirmed a positive relation between occupational self-efficacy and job satisfaction (dimensions work itself, supervision, and promotion, p < 0.01), and a negative relation between emotional irritation and occupational self-efficacy (p < 0.01). Besides, analyses of variance and regression analyses confirmed that among the subjects with lower levels of job satisfaction, those with higher self-efficacy showed lower levels of stress, thus, confirming the moderating role of occupational self-efficacy on work stress experience. Therefore, an important conclusion or implication of the results is the confirmation of the occupational self-efficacy as a moderator between the satisfaction and the experience of irritation at work.
