RESUMEN

AIM: To investigate the impact of meteorological factors in different environments in the eastern and western regions of China on the incidence of lipid-abnormal dry eye.METHODS: This is a multicenter retrospective study. From March 1, 2021 to February 28, 2022, all patients with dry eye were selected from the ophthalmology clinic of Nanjing Hospital of Chinese Medicine Affiliated to Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine and Friendship Hospital of Xinjiang Yili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture. General data(gender, age, employment and education)and climate data for outdoor environments(temperature, humidity, air quality index and wind)on the day of the visit were collected. Patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected. Single factor, multiple factors and nonlinear model analysis were applied to identify environmental factors of lipid-abnormal dry eye in both regions.RESULTS: There was no significant difference in the incidence of lipid-abnormal dry eye between Nanjing and Yili in different seasons. The incidence of lipid-abnormal dry eye in Yili was significantly higher in all seasons than in Nanjing(P<0.001). The results of univariate research showed that the factors affecting the incidence of lipid-abnormal dry eye were gender, employment, humidity, air quality, and wind. The results of multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that humidity, temperature and air quality were statistically significant, and remained significant after adjusting for the three confounding factors of age, gender and employment situation. Nonlinear analysis showed that the probability of lipid-abnormal dry eye increased with the decrease of temperature when the temperature was below 10℃; within the range of 10℃~15℃, the probability of lipid-abnormal dry eye tended to stabilize. When the temperature exceeded 15℃, the probability of lipid-abnormal dry eye increased with the increase of temperature. Humidity was negatively correlated with the onset of lipid-abnormal dry eye. As humidity increased, the probability of lipid-abnormal dry eye decreased.CONCLUSIONS: The risk of lipid-abnormal dry eye in Yili is higher than that in Nanjing throughout the four seasons. Humidity, temperature, air quality and other environmental and meteorological factors can all affect the incidence of lipid-abnormal dry eye.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the association between tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and lymphotoxin α(LTα) gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and susceptibility to extremity post-traumatic osteomyelitis in Chinese population. Methods We used SNaPshot genotyping method to detect genotypes of 6 TNF-α gene SNP sites (rs1799964,rs1800630,rs1799724,rs1800750,rs1800629 and rs361525) and 1 LT α gene SNP site of rs909253 in 189 patients with post-traunatic osteomyelitis and 200 healthy controls.Genetic models were applied to investigate the potential links between the above-mentioned SNPs and risks of developing post-traumatic osteomyelitis. Results Outcomes revealed that the frequency of mutant allele C of rs909253 in the patient group was statistically higher than that in healthy controls (54.23% versus 45.00%,P =0.010,OR =1.448,95% CI 1.092 ~ 1.921).Significant correlations were found between rs909253 and risk of developing post-traumatic osteomyelitis by recessive model (CC versus CT+TT,P=0.012,OR=1.868,95%CI1.150~3.035) and homozygote model (CCversusTT,P=0.021,OR=2.016,95% CI 1.111~3.658).The frequency of CC (29.63%) in the patient group was higher than that in the control group (17.50%).With regard to rs1800629 site of TNF-oα gene,we only found that the frequency of mutant allele A (4.23%) in the patient group was statistically lower than that(7.75%) in the control group (P=0.040,OR=0.526,95% CI 0.283 ~0.978).Conclusions LTαgeneSNP site rs909253 may be linked with elevated risk of developing post-traumatic osteomyelitis in Chinese population.Mutant allele C may be a risk factor and people with genotype of CC may be a group at a higher risk of developing post-traumatic osteomyelitis in China.

RESUMEN

Objective To explore the causes of dengue fever resurgence in Guangxi, and to analyze the risk factors of dengue fever. Methods The descriptive epidemiological analysis was conduced based on the dengue fever data reported from 2006 to 2015, and the surveillance results of aedes and antibody levels in health population from 2013 to 2015 in Guangxi. Results Before 2013, dengue fever was imported from foreign country in Guangxi, accounting for 95.35%(42/45), and 75.71%of the imported cases was imported from Southeast Asia. The local outbreak of dengue fever was happened in 2014, accounted for 94.02%(849/903) of the total number of 10 years. From onset to diagnosis, Guangxi dengue fever cases need 0-70 d (median time interval is 6 d). Cases were reported year-round, but the peak season for the onset of dengue fever was from September to November, accounting for 96.46%of all cases (871/903). The number of cases reported in Nanning was the most (83.37%), followed by Wuzhou city (7.44%) and Guilin city (4.81%), and all the three cities had dengue fever outbreaks. The cases were mainly commercial service staff (27.80%) and houseworkers and unemployed people (18.16%). Results of aedes monitoring showed that the density of aedes was high in Guangxi. In more than 50% of the monitoring seasons the breteau index (BI) stayed greater than 20. However, the antibody positive rate was only 3% in the healthy residents of Guangxi. Conclusion The risk of dengue fever is high in Guangxi. Therefore, it is essential to emphasizing idea of prevention and control, strengthening immigration surveillance, improving diagnosis ability, enhancing public health education, and expanding monitoring range.
