RESUMEN
Este estudo avaliou a estabilidade do avanço maxilar associado de reposicionamento inferior da maxila, comparando dois diferentes métodos de fixação. Quinze pacientes receberam fixação com fios, associada a fixação inter-maxilar e a suspensão infra-orbitária. Dezessete pacientes receberam a fixação interna rígida com placas e parafusos. Todos os pacientes receberam enxerto ósseo para aumentar a estabilidade do reposicionamento inferior. Os resultados foram analisados estatisticamente pela análise da variância e mostraram que: a) não houve diferença estatisticamente significativa na estabilidade do avanço maxilar, com os dois diferentes métodos de fixação; b) no reposicionamento inferior, a fixação interna rígida foi mais estável; c) a fixação interna rígida associada com o enxerto ósseo não eliminou totalmente a recidiva vertical
This study studied the stability of maxillary advancements associated to inferior repositioning of the maxilla, comparing two different methods of internal fixation. Fifteen patients received intermaxilar fixation and interosseous wiring and skeletal suspensions. Seventeen patients received rigid internal fixation with plates and screws. All patients were bone grafted to enhance the stability of the inferior repositioning. The results were statistically analysed (ANOVA) and showed that: a) there was no statistically significant difference in stability of the anterior movement of the maxilla, b) the inferior repositioning was more stable with rigid internal fixation and c) rigid internal fixation associated with bone grafts does not totally eliminate vertical relapse
