RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE:To compare the acute toxicity of ethanol extract from raw product and different processed products of Wikstroemia indica on mice, and provide basis for optimizing the processing technology of perspiration method for W. indica and medication safety. METHODS:Perspiration method was used to process the W. indica pieces for 30 d to get processed product 1 and process its coarse powder for 14,7 d to get processed product 2,processed product 3,respectively. Then using 70% ethanol as solvent, percolation method was used to extract the raw W. indica and its different processed products, and acute toxicity test was conducted on mice for different ethanol extracts. RESULTS:The median lethal dose(LD50)of ethanol extracts from raw W. in-dica and processed product 1 were 4.05 and 6.65 g/kg,equivalent to 19,32 times of the clinical daily dose of a 70 kg adult,re-spectively. While the LD50 of ethanol extract from processed product 2 and processed product 3 can not be measured, the maximum tolerated dose(MTD)were measured as 20.0,15.0 g/kg,equivalent to 95,71 times of the clinical daily dose of a 70 kg adult,re-spectively;the maximum dose(MLD)were measured as approximately 30.0,20.0 g/kg,equivalent to 143,95 times of the clini-cal daily dose of a 70 kg adult, respectively. CONCLUSIONS:The toxicity of processed products of W. indica is obviously lower than that of raw products, and its toxicity after processing the coarse powder for 14 d is lower than that after processing the coarse powder for 7 d.

RESUMEN

Eleven fungal strains were tested for their ability to produce brown and reddish brown textile dyes using H-acid (1- naphthol-8-amino-3, 6-disulfonic acid) as a dye precursor in the fermentation medium. All tested fungal strains exhibited high ability to produce dyes varying in both dye color (brown to reddish brown) and fastness properties to washing, perspiration and UV light. The produced dyes were subjected to further analysis for quantitative determination of dye components for investigation of their inter-relations as well as their role in dye color and stability.

RESUMEN

Shoulder hand syndrome was one of the severe complications in stroke patients and often disturbed the QOL and the rehabilitation therapy. The reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) was considered as the pathogenesis of shoulder hand syndrome, but the therapy had been not established. We analyzed the sympathetic nerve function of thermotherapy of shoulder-neck or passive exercise of limbs in stroke patients. ‹methods› In stoke patients suffering from shoulder hand syndrome, we set the thermisters (Terumo.Co. CMT-205) and local perspiration meters (Skinos Co. SKD 2000) on both forefingers and set the accelerated photoplethysmography (Tokyo Iken Co. SA.3000P). We analyzed the blood vessel tension (BVT) and the wave type. ‹results› The temperature of the paralytic fingers and hands was significantly higher than the temperature of the normal sides. The pulse wave patterns and blood vessel tension in paralytic fingers were more disturbed than those of intact fingers. The perspirations of paralytic hands were significantly correlated with duration and systolic blood pressures and the sympathetic nerve function was considered to concern to the disorders in early stage of stoke.

RESUMEN

Fifty-one cases of menopause syndrome were randomly divided into three groups, 21 cases in the acupuncture and cupping group, 10 cases in the acupuncture group, and 20 cases in the ear acupuncture group, and were respectively treated by acupuncture plus cupping therapy, acupuncture, and ear acupuncture. The total effective rate was respectively 80.9%, 20.0% and 80.0%. The therapeutic effect was better in the treatment of menopause syndrome by acupuncture plus cupping therapy than by single acupuncture treatment or ear acupuncture (P<0.05).

RESUMEN

In order to clarify the physiological nature of the local differences in the skin electroconductivity we measured transcutaneous electric current on the representative (determinate) points of Ryodo-Raku (by Y. Nakatani) which correspond to so-called Genketu of traditional Chinese medicine with a wet electrode of 1cm in diameter in the condition of D. C. 12 volts and 200 uA when, both electrodes are directly connected. Eighty-two healthy adults were tested once and four other healthy adults were tested daily for eight days. We analysed mathematically the values of measurements by the principal component analysis.<br>As a result, we found that the electroconductivity of the skin in the upper and lower limbs both, and volar and dorsal sites of the upper limb changed independently each other and showed from rough to close interrelations according to the orders as above-mentioned.
