RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To explore the influencing factors of neck work-related musculoskeletal disorders( WMSDs) and their effects in airport porters. METHODS: A total of 413 airport porters were chosen as study subjects using judgment sampling method. Chinese version of Musculoskeletal Questionnaire was used to investigate the prevalence of WMSDs.Then structural equation model was constructed and used to analyze the influencing factors of neck WMSDs. RESULTS: The prevalence of neck WMSDs in airport porters was 37. 3%( 154/413). Postural load, mental workload and length of service had a direct effect on neck WMSDs of porters( path coefficients were 0. 405,0. 166,0. 296,P < 0. 05),and mental workload also had an indirect effect on neck WMSDs through postural load( path coefficient was 0. 103,P < 0. 01).CONCLUSION: Posture load, mental workload and length of service are risk factors of neck WMSDs in airport porters.

RESUMEN

Aim To evaluate the estrogen-like activity of Semen Descurainiae aqueous extracts (SD-ae), to deter-mine its effective chemical separation components and to study the mechanisms. Methods The estrogen-like ac-tivity of SD-ae and its effective chemical separation com-ponents were evaluated by the animal experiment, uterine weight test and cell experiment, namely E-SCREEN ex-periment. Estrogen receptor antagonist ICI182,780 inter-vention blocking experiment was carried out to detect the pathway of estrogen-like action; the HEK293 cells were co-transfected with the report gene carrier and the ERα, ERβ expression vector by cationic liposome, the report gene carrier was constructed via the estrogen-responsive component (ERE) and the report gene luciferase (Luc), then the estrogen-like signaling pathway was evaluated with standardized Luc activity; the expression of estrogen receptor ERα, ERβ and estrogen-induced gene PR mR-NA was detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR. Results Compared with normal control, SD-ae low and high dose could significantly improve the uterine coefficient of immature female mice(P<0.05), and the oligosaccharides composition of Semen Descurainiae aque-ous extracts(SD-ae-Oli) and the polysaccharide composi-tion of Semen Descurainiae aqueous extracts(SD-ae-Pol) also significantly improved the uterine coefficient of im-mature female mice (P<0.01 or P<0.05); SD-ae, SD-ae-Oli and SD-ae-Pol had a significant proliferative effect on MCF-7 cells ( P <0.01 or P <0.05), while ICI182,780 intervened to block its proliferative effect. The reporter gene technology showed that the standardized Luc activities of SD-ae, SD-ae-Oli and SD-ae-Pol were significantly higher than those of the normal control when they were induced by ERβ respectively (P<0.01); and the SD-ae significantly increased the expression of ERβ mRNA in mouse uterus than the normal control, but no effect was found on the expression of ERα and PR mR- NA. Conclusions The estrogenic effect of SD-ae may be found at the first time, and its effective chemical sepa-ration components are SD-ae-Oli and SD-ae-Pol. Their estrogenic effects are mediated by ERβ. The molecular mechanism of the estrogenic effects is probably that SD-ae promotes the expression of ERβ mRNA.

RESUMEN

Aim To screen a more suitable transfection recep-tor,and improve the efficiency of constructing cell lines highly expressing human peptide transporters 1 (hPepT1 ).Methods The recombinant plasmid pcDNA3.1 (+)-hPepT1 was transfect-ed into MDCK cells and HeLa cells by LipofectamineTM 2000 transfection reagent, respectively. The monoclonal cells were se-lected and cultured.Expression of hPepT1 mRNA and protein were determined by qRT-PCR and Western blot, respectively. The uptake capacity of Glysar in transfected cells was examined. Results Compared with wild type cells, the expression of hPepT1 and the uptake of Glysar in transfected MDCK cells and HeLa cells significantly increased (P <0.05).Although the up-take of Glysar in HeLa cells was higher than that of MDCK cells,on the contrary, the expression of hPepT1 and the uptake of Glysar in MDCK-hPepT1 cells was higher than that of HeLa-hPepT1 cells. Conclusion MDCK cells may serve as a more suitable transfected receptor for the construction of a cellular model with high expression of hPepT1 ,which would make the construction of a cell model highly expressing hPepT1 more effi-cient.

An applied, descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective investigation of 1 718 children under 5 years discharged from "Dr. Antonio María Béguez Cesar" Teaching Southern Children Hospital in Santiago de Cuba with diagnosis of common flu as "porter infection", was carried out from January, 2013 to December, 2014, in order to characterize them according to risk, clinical and therapeutic epidemiological variables, based on the definitions of "porter infection" and "therapeutic violence". In the series the high morbidity figures, the recognized and modifiable risk factors (deficiency anemia, powdery environment and early ablactation), rhinorrea, fever, nasal obstruction and cough prevailed as the most common clinical manifestations, as well as the ear infection as the most frequent complication. On the other hand, the morbidity rates due to common flu during the biennium constituted unpublished statistical data in the institution.

RESUMEN

Microhistory, first developed in the 1970s, is the study of the past on a very small scale applying zoom-in methodology. Although microhistory had been introduced to Korea during the late 1990s, there still exists much of misunderstanding and confusions surrounding its nature. Microhistory is to be distinguished from the monographs which deal with petty subject, or from the history of everyday life, and from the case studies. In the field of the history of medicine, there are not many microhistories proper. Several works that claim to utilize microhistorical approach, could not be categorized as microhistory because they carry strong characteristics of macrohistory, specifically those of the disciplinary history or the case studies. The well known work of Harold J. Cook, Trials of an Ordinary Doctor, is not an exception. These studies fail to materialize the critical mind of microhistory that pursues to write a history from below and to restore the agency of obscure people. However, Guido Ruggiero's "The Strange Death of Margarita Marcellini," David Cressy's Travesties and Transgressions in Tudor and Stuart England, and Laurel Thatcher Ulrich's A Midwife's Tale clearly demonstrate the attributes, characteristics, and methodologies of microhistory. These studies well display the emphasis of microhistory, which reveal the complexity of early modern medicine, and the complicated function of individual relationships within each and every social setting. Recently, some scholars begin to suggest that the rigid definition of microhistory should be softened, arguing that there could be various types of microhistory. The history of medicine has many advantage of aptly applying many virtues of microhistory: the de-territoriality of diseases, the peculiar elements of the training and practice in hospitals and medical schools which call for anthropological survey, and the possibility of utilizing doctor's records that contain the confessions of the patients. Also, medical historians need to expand the scope of medical provider for their analysis, incorporating pseudo-medical doctor. The essential property of microhistory should be found in its request for various new subjects and fresh perspectives.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Clinical and radiological results based on fracture types and associated injuries after the treatment of tibial plateau fracture were evaluated for analyzing prognostic factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From June 1997 to June 2002, 50 cases were followed for at least 1 year. Mean age was 47.4 years, and mean follow period was 30.0 months. Fracture classification was performed by the Schatzker method. Clinical and radiological evaluation were performed by the Porter and Rasmussen method. Evaluation was based on degree of reduction and associated injuries, etc. RESULTS: The most common cause of injury was traffic accident (37 cases, 74%), The common fracture types by Schatzker classification were type II (14 cases) and VI (12 cases). Methods of treatment were screw fixation (15 cases), plate and screw (21 cases), external fixator (5 cases), and conservative treatment (9 cases). The most common associated injuries were ipsilateral fibular fracture (18 cases) and MCL (medial collateral ligament) injury (8 cases). CONCLUSION: Acceptable results after treatment of tibial plateau fracture were obtained from the anatomical reduction group, non-associated injury group, the young age group, and the early ROM (range of motion) beginning group.
