RESUMEN

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α(PPARα)is an important subtype in the PPARs family. PPARs are a group of nuclear hormone receptors, which belong to type II nuclear receptor super family.PPARαagonists could be used in the treatment of hyperlipemia in clinic.PPARαagonists mainly include natural type and synthetic type, and according to the structure, the synthetic PPARαagonists can be divided into phenyl-heterocy-clic derivatives, ureide derivatives, amides derivatives, phenyloxazole or phenylthiazole derivatives, etc. So far, many PPARαagonists have been approved or in clinical development, and a series of novel PPARαagonists with higher activity and selectivity are being developed. This review will survey the progress in PPARαagonists.

RESUMEN

Objective: To investigate the effects of Jiaosanxian (JSX, consisted of stir-baked Hordei Fructus Germinatus-Crataegi Fructus-Massa Fermentata Medicinalis) on reducing blood lipid. Methods: The model of hyperlipidemic mice was established by feeding high-fat diet. Kunming mice were randomly divided into six groups: blank, hyperlipidemic, Zhibituo, low-, mid-, and high-dose [100, 200, and 400 mg/(kg·d)] JSX groups, and were continuously ig administered for 28 d. The contents of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in serum and liver and liver index were determined. Results: The contents of TC, TG, and LDL-C in serum or liver were decreased significantly but the contents of HDL-C were increased more significantly in the mid- and high-dose JSX groups than those in hyperlipemic group. The weight and liver index were decreased significantly with the dose increasing of JSX. The lipid-decreasing effects were improved with the dose increasing. Conclusion: These results suggest that JSX has the significant effects on hyperlipidemia. It could provide the experimental basis for the clinical use of JSX for the treatment of hyperlipidemia. © 2013 Tianjin Press of Chinese Herbal Medicines.

RESUMEN

This study was aimed to screen main active site to reduce blood lipid from Xin-Mai (XM) capsule and establish HPLC fingerprint of the site, in order to study the correlativity between active site and relevant fractions of its herbs. Solvent extraction was used to separate XM capsule into different polar fractions. Intraperitoneal injection of 75% egg-yolk emulsion was used to establish mice hyperlipidemia models. And the active site was screened. Chromatographic fingerprints of the site and relevant fractions of its herbs were configured by HPLC analysis. The retention time of peaks was utilized as index to evaluate the correlativity. The results showed that lipid-lowering effect of ethyl acetate extract and garlic essential oil was significant (P<0.01). Fingerprint of the active site in XM capsule was established with 28 fingerprint peaks and the assignment results of 27 peaks were indicated. It was concluded that the active sites to reduce blood lipid of XM capsule were ethyl acetate extract and garlic essential oil. The established fingerprint method can effectively determine the correlativity between the active site and its relevant fractions, which contributed to pharmacodynamic material foundation and quality standard.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the effect of cold pressed Camelina Sativa oil (CPCO) on growth performance and lipid metabolism of hyperlipemia rats. Method The rats were divided into control group (Cont),high fat diet group (HFD),fish oil group (HFD+FO),low dose CPCO group (HFD+LCPCO) and high dose CPCO group (HFD+HCPCO). The latter 4 groups were fed high fat feed. Fo and CPCO were given by gavage. Total cholesterol (TC),triglyceride (TG),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and HDL-C subtype levels in serum were determined at the end of 6w. The distribution of HDL-C particles was studied by agarose gel electrophoresis. Results HFD resulted typical hyperlipemia. Body weight,TC and TG level were significantly decreased, and HDL-C particles tended to be miniaturized and the HDL3 level increased by feeding Camelina Sativa oil as compared with HFD group. TC content in HFD+FO and HFD+HCPCO group was decreased 46.06% and 30.60% respectively. TG content in these two groups was decreased 25.81% and 22.72% respectively as compared with HFD group. Conclusion Chinese Camelina Sativa oil which contained high level of ?-linolenic acid(ALA)could prevent and cure hyperlipidemia by regulating blood lipid metabolism and protecting hepatic function.
