RESUMEN

Nevus sebaceus is a congenital hamartoma with epidermal, follicular, and apocrine elements. Several skin appendage tumors can evolve secondarily from nevus sebaceus. Two different tumors often develop simultaneously on a nevus sebaceus lesion, but the growth of more than two tumors is rare. Herein, we report a case of four appendage tumors including trichoblastoma, tumor of the follicular infundibulum, sebaceoma, and sebaceous hyperplasia within a single nevus sebaceus lesion on the face of a 76-year-old female.

RESUMEN

Rhinophyma is a progressively growing benign tumor that has the ability to distort the nasal form. Even though, it is considered a rare subtype of rosacea, it is of great importance for the ability to create: psychic, aesthetic and functional disorders. This report describes a severe case of rhinophyma in a 52 years old male patient, the medical treatment and the surgical technique used for removal.

Sebaceous hyperplasia is a common and benign disorder of the sebaceous gland. It commonly develops in middle aged to elderly persons, but the premature type can appear at puberty. Sebaceous hyperplasia usually presents as yellowish, scattered umbilicated papules on the forehead, nose, and cheeks. The term "sebaceous hyperplasia en plaque" means that numerous sebaceous hyperplasia papules are present in a grouped, plaque-like pattern. No reports of development of sebaceous hyperplasia with nevus sebaceus on the same distribution are available. Herein, we report a case of premature sebaceous hyperplasia en plaque with nevus sebaceus of the same distribution.

RESUMEN

Sebaceous hyperplasia (SH) is a proliferative abnormality of sebaceous glands, most often seen in elderly individuals. It consists of single or multiple, asymptomatic, small yellow papules with a central depression. The face is most commonly affected, but there have been reports of SH on the chest or genitalia. A lobular array of well-differentiated mature sebaceous lobules is noted on histological preparations. In this report, we describe a patient with SH on the penile shaft and parts of the scrotum.

RESUMEN

Sebaceous hyperplasia is a common disease in middle-aged adults. The lesions usually present as solitary or multiple yellowish tiny papules on the face. The areola, vulva and penis are rarely reported sites for this malady. There is no definitely successful treatment for sebaceous hyperplasia. A 35-year-old woman presented with a one-year-history of numerous asymptomatic tiny confluent papules arranged in yellowish plaques surrounding both nipples. Histologic examination showed multiple clustered sebaceous lobules around a centrally located, dilated sebaceous duct. The lesion was treated by applying dichloroacetic acid. After 6 weeks, the lesion had resolved leaving faint postinflammatory hypopigmentation. Herein, we report a rare case of areolar sebaceous hyperplasia that was treated with dichloroacetic acid.

Muir-Torre syndrome (MTS is an entity comprising sebaceous neoplasm and visceral malignancy. It is a genetic disorder that involves a failure in the transcription of DNA repair proteins. It is a uncommon disease and usually the diagnosis requires an exhaustive search of associated neoplasm. The treatment of skin neoplasm is the complete removal of the lesion, but it requires continuous monitoring to detect early recurrence, new neoplasias and possible metastasis. We report two cases, which illustrate all the clinical characteristics of MTS, together with a literature review on the subject.

RESUMEN

Sebaceous hyperplasia is a common benign disorder of the face, mainly on the forehead and cheeks, in the elderly. Clinically, these lesions present as multiple yellow umbilicated papules. Occasionally, sebaceous hyperplasia can occur in sites such as the vermilion of the lips, buccal mucosa, or the mucocutaneous surfaces of the genitalia. However, diffuse areolar involvement is rare and only a few cases have been reported. We herein report two cases of sebaceous hyperplasia in the areolae of the breast in a 29-year-old and a 44-year-old woman.

RESUMEN

Sebaceous hyperplasia is a cutaneous lesion consisting of soft, yellow, papular lesions usually occurring on the face of elderly patients. The occurrence of the lesion on the nasal vestibule is exceptionally rare. Except for cosmesis, the condition has no clinical significance. However, the lesion is sometimes confused with early basal cell carcinomas. It should be considered as a differential diagnosis in the neoplasm of the nasal vestibule. Biopsy may be necessary if there is any concern about a malignancy. Treatment options include electrodesiccation, laser therapy, and topical bichloracetic acid. In this study, we report a case of sebaceous hyperplasia of the nasal vestibule with an unusual presentation.

RESUMEN

Sebaceous hyperplasia commonly occurs on the face and occasionally on the neck. The other less common sites include the penis, vulva and areola. The typical clinical features are 2~3 mm sized, creamy or yellowish, umbilicated papules. Histopathologically, a number of mature sebaceous lobules connected to the centrally-located dilated sebaceous ducts are grouped in the upper dermis and they are associated with hair follicles. We report here on a case of a 52-year-old woman who had a solitary, 3 mm-sized papule on the areola, and the papule's histopathologic findings showed numerous mature sebaceous lobules surrounding wide sebaceous ducts.

RESUMEN

Sebaceous hyperplasia usually presents as solitary or multiple, small, yellowish papules on the face, particularly on the forehead. It occurs most commonly in middle-aged individuals and rarely in early adult life. It has also been reported in the vulva, penis, and areola. Histological examination reveals a single greatly enlarged sebaceous gland composed of numerous lobules grouped around a centrally located, wide sebaceous duct. We report a case of a 26-year-old man with sebaceous hyperplasia in the ventral surface of the distal penile shaft, an unusual site.

RESUMEN

Premature sebaceous hyperplasia generally appears at puberty and it tends to become worse with age. The clinical appearance of premature sebaceous hyperplasia consists of scattered or sometimes confluent umbilicated papules or plaques with a selective location on the face, neck and upper thorax. The histological findings are the same as those of senile sebaceous hyperplasia. The findings reveal a group of mature sebaceous lobules and central sebaceous ducts. We report here on an unusual case of a 10-year old female patient with premature sebaceous hyperplasia. The lesions presented clinically as yellowish, umbilicated papules in a linear pattern on the right side of the neck.

RESUMEN

Sebaceous hyperplasia is not a rare disorder and commonly develops on the face over the age of forty. The typical clinical manifestation is 2~3 mm sized, single or multiple, soft, protuberant, yellowish nodules with central umbilication. Histological examination reveals a group of mature sebaceous lobules and central sebaceous ducts. We describe an unusual case of a 28-year old female patient with grouped premature sebaceous hyperplasia. The lesions presented clinically as grouped, yellowish, umbilicated papules on the left cheek, and had developed at 10 years of age.

RESUMEN

Sebaceous hyperplasia can occur on the face during middle age, particularly in men. The risk of sebaceous hyperplasia is significantly increased in adult transplant patients, particularly males, following renal transplantation, and this is related to therapy with cyclosporine. We report on 2 cases of sebaceous hyperplasia in renal transplant patients who were treated with cyclosporine. The condition was improved, without scarring, by treatment with carbon dioxide laser or cryotherapy.

RESUMEN

Sebaceous hyperplasia occurs on the face in persons over 40 years of age. Cyclosporine in dermatologic diseases can be used for the treatment of psoriasis, pyoderma gangrenosum, lichen planus, graft-versus-host disease, epidermolysis bullosa acquisita, Behcet's disease, and paraneoplastic pemphigus. etc. The side effects of cyclosporine in mucocutaneous tissue, were hypertrichosis, gingival hypertrophy, acneiform eruption, keratosis pilaris, flushing, angioedema, urticaria, and anaphylaxis have also been reported with the use of cyclosporine. Development of sebaceous hyperplasia is related to the process of dysplastic epithelial proliferation. We experienced a case of sebaceous hyperplasia in a renal transplant patient receiving cyclosporine. After carbon dioxide laser was done, lesions were cleared without any scar.

RESUMEN

Sebaceous hyperplasia is not a rare disorder and commonly develops on the face over the age of forty. The typical clinical manifestations are 2 ~ 3mm sized, single or multiple, soft protuberant yellowish nodules with central umbilication and histology shows a group of mature sebaceous lobules and central sebaceous ducts. We report an exceptionally "giant" size of sebaceous gland hyperplasia which lead us to such clinical impressions as an acrochordon, intradermal nevus, and verruca vulgaris. Histologically, the lesion showed a greatly enlarged sebaceous gland composed of numerous lobules grouped around a wide sebaceous duct. Besides the extraordinarily large size of the nodule, the benign proliferating pattern led us to a diagnosis of giant sebaceous hyperplasia.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The pathogenic role of Demodex is still a matter of debate. We accidentally found large numbers of Demodex from sebacous hyperplasia(SH). OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to compare the number of Demodex in the with control group and to observe the histopathological finding of SH. METHODS: Extraction was performed in 11 patients with SH, and in 40 controls. Excision biopsy was performed in 8 patients with SH. RESULTS: The prevalence and density of Demodex was significantly higher in patients with SH (prevalence = 100%; mean density = 28.9/lesion) than in the controls(prevalence = 85%; mean density=2.1/follicle). Histopathologically, a dense homogenous eosinophilic material surrounding the mites(abnormal keratinization of ductal epithelium), sloughing of keratin, follicular plugging, obstruction of the hair follicle and sebaceous duct, cellular destruction of the sebaceous gland(degeneration), squamous metaplasia of sebaceous gland cells, and follicular and perifollicular inflammatory infiltration were observed. Demodex organisms were found in the hair follicle, sebaceous duct and sebaceous gland. CONCLUSION: The present study demonstrates a high density of Demodex in the lesion of SH and this finding suggests possible relationship of Demodex in the development of the skin lesion of SH.

RESUMEN

We report an unusual case of sebaceous hyperplasia in an 18-year-old male manifestated clinically as yellowish, grouped papules with a linear distribution, present on the right side of forehead since birth. Histopathologically, a large sebaceous gland composed of numerous lobules grouped around a centrally dilated duct was seen. The sebaceous lobules distributed in the upper dermis showed direct connection to the skin surface, which suggested a transepidermal elimination of sebaceous lobules.

RESUMEN

We report a case of sebaceous hyperplasia showing linear arrangement in a 13-year-old girl. The lesion was found at birth and became prominent gradually. Multiple small discrete yellowish papules were arranged in a linear pattern on the temporal srea of the face. Unusual, incidental histopathologic finding was a sebaceous lobule lying in a dilated infundibular portion, which appeared to represent transfollicular extrusion of sebaceous lobule as a natural phenomenon.
