RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: APETALA3 (AP3) has significant roles in petal and stamen development in accordance with the classical ABC model. RESULTS: The AP3 homolog, CDM19, from Chrysanthemum morifolium cv. Jinba was cloned and sequenced. Sequence and phylogenetic analyses revealed that CDM19 is of DEF/AP3 lineage possessing the characteristic MIKC-type II structure. Expression analysis showed that CDM19 was transcribed in petals and stamens of ray and disc florets with weak expression in the carpels. Ectopic expression of CDM19 in Arabidopsis wild-type background altered carpel development resulting in multi-carpel siliques. CDM19 could only partially rescue the Arabidopsis ap33 mutant. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that CDM19 may partially be involved in petal and stamen development in addition to having novel function in carpel development.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE:To compare the quality between Stamen typhae and pollen of T. angustifolia ,and provide scientific evidence for the improvement of quality standard of T. angustifolia . METHODS :Fifteen batches of S. typhae were collected. Pollen minus sieve ,impurity plus sieve (filament and anther )were sift out from S. typhae according to the identification method of T. angustifolia in Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2015 edition). The characteristics and components of S. typhae and pollen ,filament and anther of T. angustifolia were comfirmed by impurity , character examination and microscope , TLC. The contents of isorhamnetin-3-O-neohesperidoside and typhaneoside in S. typhae and pollen ,impurities plus sieve (filament and anther )of T. angustifolia were determined by HPLC. RESULTS :S. typhae was a mixture of pollen ,anther and filament of T. angustifolia ,in the form of brownish yellow flocculent. The pollen of S. typhae was yellow powder with delicate hand feel ,slight smell and light taste;the surface of cells was slightly striped. The filaments and anthers were filiform and short-term ,rough and astringent ,and the cell surface were long strip. TLC chromatogram of S. typhae ,pollen and impurity of T. angustifolia had the same color spots at the same location. The contents of isorhamnetin- 3-O-neohesperidoside,typhaneoside and their aggregate were the highest in pollen (0.42%,0.24%,0.64%);the second in S. typhae (0.22%,0.17%,0.39%);the lowest in the impurities plus sieve (0.19%, 0.14%,0.33%). The total contents of isorhamnetin- 3-O-neohesperidoside and typhaneoside in S. typhae and in impurities plus sieve did not reach the content limit stipulated in Chinese Pharmacopoeia (not less than 0.50%). CONCLUSIONS:The medicinal components of T. angustifolia mainly exist in pollen. It is suggested that S. typhae should be used as the raw material to obtain pollen, and should not be used directly.

RESUMEN

This study evaluated the use of crude glycerin as an alternative of energy generation to replace the traditional fuels. The Tradescantia stamen hair mutation assay (Trad-SH) was applied to study the mutagenic effects caused by the emissions generated in the direct combustion of diesel oil and glycerin in a flame tube furnace. Tradescantia inflorescences were exposed to gaseous emissions from the combustion tests in a fumigation chamber for 30-40 min. The analysis of variance and the Tukey test were applied to compare the differences between six test groups (intoxicated with emissions from glycerin and diesel oil combustion) and a control group. Only one glycerin group showed statistical differences (0.05), possibly due to the complexity of the burning process and impurities, besides the acrolein present in its emissions. The high heating value (HHV) of crude glycerin (25.5 MJ/kg) was lower than diesel oil (45.19 MJ/kg), but it was comparable to other fuels. Although the use of glycerin as a biofuel could be an important aspect to be considered, the results showed that the glycerin had a substantial mutagenic potential similar to that of diesel oil.

RESUMEN

The morphology and structure of the flowers and fruits of Chamissoa altissima (Jacq.) Kunth during the development were analyzed. The plant material was fixed in FAA 50, embedded in historesin and sectioned according to standard techniques. The flowers presented tepals with betalain and homogeneous mesophyll; receptacular nectary; anthers with epidermis, endothecium, one middle layer, and uninucleate tapetum; and monocarpelar ovary with homogeneous mesophyll. The fruit was a circumscissile capsule, presented the same number of cellular layers that the ovary, and possessed subendocarpic sclerenchyma. The seed was bitegmic, exotestal and perispermic.

Chamissoa altissima (Jacq.) A semente é bitegumentada, exotestal e perispérmica.

RESUMEN

Objective: To determine quercetin and kaempferol in stamen neulumbinis by HPLC. Methods : Shim-pack CLC-ODS column was used. Mobile phase consisted of methanol-0.025% phosphate. UV detector wavelength was set at 370nm. Results : The chromatographic peaks of quercetin and kaempferol and other components were completely separated. The average recovery was 96.8% and RSD was 1.97%. Conclusion : The experiment provided new markers and a reliable method for the quality control of Stamen Neulumbinis.
