Background: Medicine is a challenging study and is known for its demanding nature. This also results in increased stress levels among students. Understanding factors that influence stress and quality of life from medical students in different regions is important for the development of effective interventions and support systems. Methods: A meticulous quantitative method approach has been utilized. This research is done via data fetched through a questionnaire. Statistical analyses are comprised of t-tests and correlation tests to employ a dissection of quantitative data while the data is subjected to analysis to uncover the underlying patterns and nuances. These results showcase crucial disparities in the stress levels between medical students in Southern Asia and the South Caucasus while imparting light on factors impacting the quality of life experienced by students in both regions. Results: The implications of this study hold primary significance for sharing information with targeted interventions with an aim at bolstering the mental health and academic performance of medical students in both the areas of Southern Asia and the South Caucasus. Conclusions: The major objective of this study is to hold comparisons of stress levels and quality aspects of life in Southern Asia and South Caucasus, with the identification of the multifaceted factors that contribute to the stress levels among students in both regions, understanding the various challenges and sharing a glimpse of actionable implications for interventions which are aimed at bolstering students’ well-being.

Objective To investigate the effect of brachial plexus block on stress response in patients who underwent shoulder arthroscopic surgery.Methods A total of 150 patients with shoulder arthritis who underwent shoulder arthroscopic surgery in the Shanghai Fifth People's Hospital,Fudan University from December 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the study subjects.All patients were divided into the control group and the observation group by random number table method,with 75 cases in each group.Patients in the control group were given general anesthesia,while patients in the observation group were given brachial plexus block on the basis of the control group.The mean arterial pressure(MAP),heart rate(HR),norepinephrine(NE),cortisol(Cor)before operation(T0),10 minutes after operation(T1),30 minutes after operation(T2),at the end of operation(T3)and 30 minutes after extubation(T4)of the two groups were compared.The transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),C-reactive protein(CRP)before and 3 days after operation of the two groups were compared.The visual analogue scale(VAS)scores at postoperative wakefulness and 6,12 and 24 hours after operation of the two groups were compared.Results Compared with T0,the levels of MAP and HR at T1,T2,T3,and T4 in the observation group and the control group were obviously decreased(P<0.01),the levels of NE and Cor were obviously increased(P<0.01),while the levels of MAP,HR,NE,and Cor at T1,T2,T3,and T4 in the observation group were obviously lower than those in the control group(P<0.01).The levels of TGF-β1,TNF-α,and CRP 3 days after operation in the observation group and the control group were obviously increased compared with those before operation (P<0. 01), and the above indicators after operation in the observation group were obviously lower than those in the control group (P<0. 01). The VAS scores at postoperative wakefulness and 6, 12 and 24 hours after operation in the observation group were obviously lower than those in the control group (P<0. 01). Conclusion Ultrasound-guided brachial plexus block by interscalene approach can ensure the stability of the vital signs of patients with shoulder arthritis during shoulder arthroscopic surgery, alleviate pain, reduce stress, and reduce inflammatory response.

Introduction@#The demanding nature of medical school causes students to experience stress, anxiety, and depressive episodes that may cause students to gain or lose weight. This study aimed to determine the association of weight changes and stress levels among a private medical school students.@*Methods@#Data were collected two times with an interval of 30 days through on-site measurement of the students’ anthropometrics using a stadiometer and utilization of online survey questionnaires accessed via QR code. Demographics and disease states were identified in the first round of data collection while the Perceived Stress Scale-10 (PSS-10) and identification of stressors was integrated in the second round of data collection. @*Results@#Among the 212 individuals, 69.8% were categorized into having perceived moderate stress levels, 22.2% with high stress, and 8% with low stress. Of the 212 cases, 86 gained weight, 91 lost weight, and 35 had no change in weight. Fear of failure, poor motivation, and difficulty understanding lectures are among the top overall stressors. The study noted that there is a moderate association between stress and weight changes but it is not enough to reach statistical significance (0.161), as the sample size was not reached. The study revealed that the prevailing diseases were Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Hypothyroidism, and Hypertension, which have varying degrees of impact on weight change. @*Conclusion@#There is an association between weight changes and stress levels among first to fourth year medical students of a private medical school from A.Y. 2023-2024.

An Online survey was conducted by sending a ten-point questionnaire to about 200 Doctors in India, using the Survey Monkey App. A total of 146 responses were received, out of which 132 were complete. Majority of the Doctors had more than 20 years of experience in the Medical Profession and 80% of the respondents were males. Surprisingly, majority of the Doctors were happy with their income and though the prevalence of smoking and alcohol intakes was low, almost 60% had High Stress Levels. Professional Stress was almost twice that of Domestic Stress. The causes and solutions for these high levels of stress in the Indian Doctors needs to be explored further.

@#Postpartum stress incidence rate is quite high (26% - 85%). Several studies reveal that more than 50% of women experience stress and depression after giving birth and almost 80% of new mothers experience terrible sadness feelings after giving birth, often called postpartum stress. This study aims to determine the effect of postpartum coping skill classes (PCSC) on stress level, cortisol level, maternal self-efficacy (MSE), and baby's growth and development. This study employed an experimental design method with a randomized study pre-test post-test control group design. The study was conducted on 18 postpartum women who were given PCSC treatment which was integrated into postpartum classes and 17 women were given postpartum classes (PC) only. The study was conducted in 4 weeks. The data were analyzed statistically using a t-test method. Ethical clearance for the study was obtained. The results disclose that PCSC significantly decrease the PSS score (-2.66 ± 4.74, p = 0,029). Similarly, the cortisol level drops significantly (-38.53 ± 74.60, p = 0.031). In other respect, the MSE score between groups have significant mean difference (p = 0.013), but the weight gain and development of the baby between the two groups have no significant mean difference (p >0.05). The provision of coping skill classes through maternal classes for postpartum women was effective in decreasing stress levels, cortisol levels, and increasing MSE scores although it did not affect the baby's growth and development.

Aim To study the effect of pectin-adriamy-cin conjugate ( PAC) on cardiac toxicity .Methods 50 female SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups with 10 animals in each group .Adriamycin ( ADM ) group received 3 mg? kg -1 , ip, every other day for 6 times.PAC group received ADM equivalent 1.5,3 and 6 mg? kg -1 , ip, every other day for 6 times.Control group received normal saline parallel to ADM .Rats were sacrificed and the echocardiogram , cardiac en-zymes , the oxidative stress levels in myocardial cells and histopathological changes after 48 h administration were detected.S180 ascites tumor bearing mice models were established to investigate the antitumor activity of PAC.Results The survival rate of ADM group was 50% and that of PAC each group was 100%.PAC could significantly increase body weight ,heart index and immune index and increase HR ,EF,FS,reduce LVIDd, LVIDs.PAC could also significantly increase the AST , LDH, CK, CK-MB level in serum .GSH-Px and SOD activities of PAC group were significantly increased and MDA contents were reduced , and histopathological changes decreased .PAC could effectively inhibit the growth of tumor cells and extend the survival period of mice.Conclusion PAC induces a significant reduc-tion in cardiotoxicity by increasing survival rate , im-mune and cardiac function , improving cardiac en-zymes ,oxidative stress and myocardial cell injury , and also PAC has obvious antitumor effect .

Introduction: The effects of stress are known to be multi faceted. Equally unpredictable are the results of examinations. Evaluation of performance of a person in examination depends on many factors. In present study, we attempted to find stress level and their effect on examination performance of first years medical students. Material and methods: We asked the first year medical students to rate their perceived level of stress in percentage score from 0–100; 100 being the highest, along with other relevant data. We correlated this stress level and other factors with their marks in immediate examination, which was conducted in + 10 days of recording stress score. Results:It was found that stress levels higher than 40, suggestive of distress; lead to decrease in examination performance, as evidenced by decrease in marks in all types of examinations: viz. theory viva voce (oral), written theory examination and practical examination. Conclusion: We studied effect of stress on examination performance. We found that higher stress led to poor performance in examinations. (negative correlation) We found high levels of stress in 52% of participants, that affected their exam performance. Since they were not aware of relaxation techniques, we introduced the same to them.
