Objectives To discuss mental health of fresh graduate students in China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (hereinafter referred to as our academy); To provide psychological basis for education and management of graduate students.Methods All 2014 fresh graduate students in our academy took psychological test via SCL-90 and comparison was made between this result and normal results of Chinese graduate students.Results The primary psychological problems of graduate students from our academy were shown as obsessive compulsive disorder (14.02%), interpersonal barriers (7.32%), depression (8.54%), and anxiety (5.49%). Among the freshmen, psychological health level of doctor candidates is higher than that of master candidates . Mental health of fresh TCM graduate students is better than that of national college students, with statistical significance (P<0.01). Conclusion Mental health of TCM graduate students is better. There is specificity for TCM students’ mental health maintenance. Therefore, health maintenance for TCM students should make full use of advantages in TCM major.

In 2012, twenty student presentations were given at the 63 rd Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Oriental Medicine in Kyoto. The student presentations were well-received and prompted many fruitful discussions. These presentations are useful in student education, and are seen as playing an important role for the future of Kampo medicine. We also think student presentations are important for promoting leadership and public speaking skills.<br>Therefore, it is hoped that such student presentations will continue as a vital component of students' education in the future, at this annual meeting of the Society. Seen from a position as coordinator of these student presentations, it was obvious that each educational leader played an important role in the students' poster presentations, and in aiding and directing them in their research. Although abstracts for the student presentations were not published, the common topics discussed, along with an outline of discussions from the meeting, are summarized here.

With the rapid growth of foreign student education in China,specific development goals have been put forward. Although size of bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery students(referred to as MBBS students) is ranked the first place among foreign students with other majors in China,it faces difficulties,including decline in the quality of students,chaotic curricula,weak faculty team and a lack of managerial personnel. Seven colleges and universities in Jiangsu province which enroll MBBS students must strengthen cooperation and collaborative development,to increase contribution to the overall size and quality of foreign students education in the province and to jointly build the MBBS student education brand of‘study in Jiangsu’.

Medical students in Japan often want to do clinical rotations abroad. Preparation for these important clinical experiences is essential to maximize the learning opportunities. Language ability is only one small part of assuring success.1) It is important to consider the hospital where the rotation will take place, the specific rotation, the living arrangements and commuting to the hospital. Preparation before the rotation should include practice in performing and writing a complete patient history and physical examination.2) It is very helpful to have a cell phone while abroad, as well as a credit card. Students must bring a white coat, and it is recommended that they also bring a Japanese textbook in the field they will study.3) While on a clinical rotation, students must be active participants in patient care and in discussions. They must be aggressive about answering questions during ward rounds. Students must be aware of many cultural differences to have good relationships with patients and colleagues.

Objective To assess the courses of evidence-based medicine among graduate students. Methods A sample of 118 graduate students who took the course were surveyed twice by using the same self-designed questionnaire at the beginning and the end of the course.Pre-post comparison was conducted to measure the impact. Results The students were able to grasp the most of the contents of the course,and reshaped their opinions on evidence-based medicine,with which,a positive impact on their medical practice was expected. Conclusion The course of evidence-based medicine for graduate students has resulted in a positive consequence.

We analyze the characteristics of foreign students and the problems in biochemistry teaching process by summarizing the practice of medical biochemistry teaching for undergraduate foreign students in Wenzhou Medical College.
